problem with postback generator on 0.9.5
I''m trying to call the postback generator on rails 0.9.5. I''ve
installed the postback tarball into
gems/1.8/gems/rails-0.9.5/generators/postback as it seems like it is
supposed to be. At least, I installed the login generator the same way
and it works. But when I try to run it, I get this:
[carl@e236014 test]$ ruby script/generate postback

AR::Base.pluralize_table_names doesnt work with scaffold generator, right?
Hi!
The script/generator scaffold for models doesnt respect (source in) this
config/environment.rb setup, right?
Because I can put in there ActiveRecord::Base.pluralize_table_names =
false but when I run a command like
ruby script/generate scaffold model Something
then it throws an error saying that my database scheme doesnt have a
Something. However there is a table called something.

Scaffolding support for many-to-many editing (habtm)?
Like with simple table editing, there are also typical ways of how a
user usually interacts with one-to-many or many-to-many relations. For
example, one would show the fields of one row of table1 in the screen
and below a line-by-line view of all associated entries in table2. Then,
one could press an "Edit" button and add or delete rows from table2 to
this entry of table1,

Rails' scaffold controller generator - should it test json format also?
(Forgive me if this is incorrect, because I recognized this initially as
something in Rails 4.0.0.beta1 and have just done a cursory look over the
latest generator code.)
Noticed in Rails 4 that the test generated for a scaffold controller only
tests the html format instead of both html and json:

Controller part of in-place editing
I''m doing some incremental improvements on scaffolding, and want to add
in-place editing to an admin section. I think I may have the view part
working right (at least, the editor pops up as expected) with this in my
view:

repost - Can one edit the file that generates the scaffolding.css?
I am reposting this because not only am I VERY interested in the
answer but because I think it would also be useful to many, many people.
We kind of have a house-style here, so it would be nice if the
generated scaffold.css would accommodate that. My questions are?
Is it possible?
Is it safe?
How?

Documentation for the built-in generator functions?
Is there a documentation for the different built-in generator functions
somewhere? If I do ruby script/generate -h I get a short overview, but I
would like to know what possibilities exist for each of the built-in
generators. Which files exactly are created? The examples I have seen
are puzzling -- sometimes they generate models or controllers per-se,
sometimes using the scaffold-generator

Moving plural detection and --force-plural option to models generator
Hi all,
I talked to Aaron briefly about this at RailsConf, but I just wanted to
bring this up here before I start working on it in case anyone objects.
I will be looking into moving the "Plural version of the model detected,
using singularized version. Override with --force-plural." warning and the
associated flag into the model generators. Currently this is only in the
resource (and

Documentation for generate controller
I can find the API documentation, but where is the documentation for the
standard generators. The wiki has 3rd party generators- but I want to
know specifically what generate controller does, and how it differs from
generate scaffold, and what other generators there are.
Where is this succinctly documented?

Announcing: Ext Scaffold Generator Plugin for Rails
The Ext Scaffold Generator Plugin can be viewed as a drop-in
replacement for Rails'' standard Resource Generator. Accepting the very
same options, it will generate views using data grid and form
components from the Ext JS Javascript GUI framework as well as a
controller acting as an Ext-compatible JSON web service. The generated
code can be used as a starting point for further

Trying to use Ajax scaffold throws up odd behaviour
|Interesting... On a new project with a fresh database just created, I downloaded the smooth-loking Ajax Scaffold generator and tried it out on a ''pages'' table:
C:\radrails\project>ruby script\generate ajax_scaffold Page PageAdmin
(I''m using Windows.)
After it calmed down I tried to access my shiny new admin page, but I got this:|

rails equivalent to symfony admin generator?
I''m an experienced PHP programmer (don''t know Ruby yet), and I''m playing
around with Symfony (PHP MVC framework similar to Rails) and I found
myself asking if there''s really any reason to use it over Rails.
From what I''ve seen just about every feature in Rails is superior except
one very important thing - Symfony''s admin generator. This is

Scaffold generator: create vs. new
Can anyone supply me with a simple, succinct explanation of what the
difference is between the "new" controller and the "create" controller
that the scaffold generator produces?
I run:
> script/generate scaffold modelname controllername
And now I need to do some work inside the controllername.rb file. For
example, pulling a list from another database table to supply

Ajax Scaffold Generator for Rails Released
I just released a whole new version of the Ajax Scaffold Generator (for Ruby
on Rails). The generator creates a scaffold page like the typical rails one,
except adding, editing and deleting are all done inline. The generated
scaffold is valid XHTML strict and fully styled right out of the box.
Check out the demo:

How do I write a generator?
I''d like to take some advice and write a generator to change the

but have not found anything yet.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Rails 2.0 scaffold
Hey guys,
I posted the other day about scaffold not working and i was told that it
was rails 2.0 doing this. (btw i''m using adgile web development)
I have read on the internet that you need to put extra stuff like title,
description......
So i did this:
C:\ruby\depot>ruby script\generate scaffold Product Admin id:int
title:varchar(1
00) description:text image_url:varchar(200)

scaffold_controller generator
Hi:
I''m new to RoR and I apologize if this is a dumb question but I''ve
read the guides, searched the archives and found nothing.
If I generate a model object and then the scaffold_controller the
result is different than just running the scaffold generator (the
_form partial has no fields in the first case).
I did not expected this and I wanted to first create the models, tweak

Custom controller for scaffold generator
Hi,
i put my customized controller in
lib/templates/scaffold_controller/controller.rb
for using in scaffold generation.
The problem is that the original controller template is used!
Where do i put my custom controller template? Or maybe is this a bug?
I''m using Rails v. 3.0.7 (Ruby 1.9.2p180)
Thanks in advance,
ciao
