Autotest and RSpect
I managed to have Autotest running on my windows box. Apparently all is
working but every time I know there is an error a new line is generated,
no error messages or anything is sent to the console.
I am using pastie now (thanks to David), please go to:

Another sharing tehnique, is this possible ?
hi,
(assume HTB)
I was thinking will it be possible to do some sort of UNFAIR-SHARING :"), what I have in mind :
Say I have a internet link with 100kbits bandwith, then I want to share it between many clients (which will increase over time). Let''s i start with 5 clients with rate = 30kbits...
See the total bandwith of users is 120kbits but I have only 100kbits.... So where is the

I can''t make RSpec 1.0.8 run in Rails 1.2.3
I followed the directions on the site:
ruby script/plugin install svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/rspec/tags/CURRENT/rspec
ruby script/plugin install svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/rspec/tags/REL_1_0_8/rspec_on_rails
ruby script/generate rspec
And apparently everything was ok. But when I do a "rake spec" on the app folder none of the Rails models are visible. Here is the error:

been published on Oreillynet.com. The article is titled
"Analyzing Statistics with GNU/R". Here is the link:

for a beginner - good rspec examples?
I''m learning to use rspec and I want to see some good examples.
Any recommendations of open source projects that demonstrate the use
of rspec?
So far I''ve found:
1) the Caboose sample app (http://sample.caboo.se/)
2) the Altered Beast forums app (http://beast.caboo.se/forums/1/topics/4650
)
Any others come to mind?
I''m especially interested in seeing

CBQ_bandwidth
Hi Stef,
Reffering to page < http://www.docum.org/stef.coene/qos/faq/cache/7.html
> I found a para as follows,
" CBQ is not always as accurate as it should be. See docum.org on the
test page for some tests with bounded classes. The algorithm used by cbq
is very "link sensitive". It calculates the link idle time and for that
it needs the real link bandwidth, average

HTB dequeueing in pairs fixed
I posted earlier when I noticed that htb was releasing packets in pairs,
even though my burst/quantums were 1 pkt.
To fix I set HTB_HYSTERESIS 0 in net/sched/sch_htb.c .
This gives a noticable gain in upstream worst case latency, for me with
256kbit/s up I used to see +90 sometimes, now it''s +45. For the many who
have 128 up it should limit them to +90 rather than +180.

Managing Hierarchical Data
Hello,
I am in the process of trying to date hierarchical data in a MySQL
database and convert it into a treeview view JS scripting. As a beginner
to ROR there are still many unknown things to me, and handling this sort
of data is one of them. My question is this: Is there any built in
functionality for handling hierarchical data (via a MySQL DB) in
Rails/Ruby? If there is can someone please

problems with project property of User resource
Hi,
I wanted to set the project property of a Solaris user after realizing
the user. Have already created the project by adding a line to /etc/
project. The user is created in virtual::user class wich is inherited
by the target class to be able to add the project property. The
project of the user xxxx gets not set properly and remains default
when I use the project property ! Had to fall back

RubyGems runtime memory use in Rails apps...
This an open plea for someone with knowledge of RubyGems to explain why
RubyGems stays in memory (over 10MB) after a Rails application is loaded. I
am unable to figure out why this would be necessary. I haven''t had any
response from Jim or Chad from RubyGems about it so I thought I would throw
it open to the list to see if anyone could educate me or share thier
experiences with this.

property.rb moved between 0.22 and 0.23?
FYI: We have a custom `checkout'' type which stopped working when migrating
from 0.22.4 to 0.23.2-ish. This turned out to have been caused by the location
of property.rb changing between 0.22.4 (puppet/type/property.rb) and
0.23.2-ish (puppet/property.rb).
(I say 0.23.2-is because I''m using 40491ebe7ca9692b57fb533412ece8fb694b7d4c
since it only has a few extra bugfixes over

Quantum of class nnnnn is big
My gateway is showing these messages:
htb*g j=4929
htb*r7 m=0

htb*r5 m=0
htb*r4 m=0
htb*r3 m=0
htb*r2 m=0
htb*r1 m=0
htb*r0 m=0
HTB: quantum of class 10001 is big. Consider r2q change.
What does it means ?
Thanks,

cbq vs htb?
Hello,
Does anyone know when one should use cbq versus (simpler more accurate) htb? Specifically does cbq have added functionality that may be of interest to certain applications?
from htb home> Both CBQ and HTB help you to control the use of the
outbound bandwidth on a given link. Both allow you to use one physical link to simulate several slower links and to send different kinds of
