GPL PV drivers for Windows 0.9.11-pre12
I''ve just uploaded 0.9.11-pre12 of the GPL PV drivers for Windows.
Since -pre10 (and -pre11) I''ve fixed a heap of crashes that were
plaguing xennet under load, and also rewritten the interrupt/event
distribution logic to improve performance.
Under windows 2003 I can now get network speeds of 1-2Gbit/second TX and
600Gbit/second RX, which is considerably better than I was

Hello,

I''m introducing myself since it''s my first post here.

[GPLPV] Xennet device issues on Win2k3 x32 DomU/Disabling just one PV device
Hi there.
I have been dealing with a conundrum off and on with a VPS of mine. Windows
2003 Standard 32 bit on a Xen HVM instance. Been trying to get the GPLPV
drivers working to help boost performance but always seem to run into one
major issue: The PV network device looks like it works but actual
connectivity is non-existant. Everything else in the GPLPV driver suite
works fine.

GPLPV xennet bsod when vcpu>15
Hello,
I installed the signed drivers from
http://wiki.univention.de/index.php?title=Installing-signed-GPLPV-drivers and
I ran into a BSOD on a Windows 2008 Server R2 Enterprise domU with a
large number of vcpu''s. The BSOD is related to xennet.sys.
After some trials I found that it runs fine up to 15 cores. From 16 or
more, the BSOD kicks in when booting the domU.
The hardware (4 times

GPLPV, clock drift and PVUSB in Windows XP HVM
1. Shouldn''t the GPLPV drivers take care of the (bad) clock drift I''m experiencing in my Windows XP HVM? Or is there some other way around this problem that I haven''t been able to find on Google? How can I tell if the GPLPV drivers are active? I''ve added the /gplpv switch to the boot.ini file and the virtual NIC is definitely using the GPLPV version but other

unistalling gplpv from win7x64 gives BSOD
I have installed the 210 gplpv (debug), when I try to update them with
current gplpv I get a BSOD even so when I try to uninstall them.
Now I have made a bootentry that specifies NOGPLPV, what gives me a
bootable system after such a crash, I found (uninstalling the leftover
driver packages after getting bsod during uninstall of the main package)
that uninstalling the net driver leads to bsod. Now

Release 0.9.0 of GPL PV Drivers for Windows
I''ve just put up the latest release of the GPLPV drivers for Windows.
This release involved a fairly big rewrite of the stuff that talks to
Windows as I changed from WDF to WDM. WDF is a newer framework from
Microsoft which makes it easier to write drivers as a lot of the state
management stuff is done for you. It also means shipping a great big dll
around with the drivers (note the

Help on setting up a PVM
I''m going to set up a PVM on xen-3.3.1 debian-amd64. I need advices
about the best methods to install a fresh debian on it (i.e. how to
choose the kernel for pvm) . I''ve installed xen from sources and only
have one xen kernel in /boot which I''m using for dom0; should I use
the same kernel for domUs?
There is any problem on use vcpus=2; the other vm is an hvm running

Stability report GPLPV 0.11.0.308
Hello James,
I am doing quite rigorous torture tests with Xen and GPLPV. Let me first
repeat the test setup:
Use Xen 4.1.1 and kernel 2.6.32.36 (commit ae333e9).
Configure 2 HVMs called VM1 and VM2 as follows (per HVM): 2 VCPUs, 2
virtual disks, 1024 MB RAM, viridian=1
Install Windows 2008 R2 SP1, do install everything twice - never clone.
Install GPLPV, iometer 2006.07.27, prime95 26.6 x64,

GPLPV 0.10.55 net misbehaviour
I''m using W2K2 32bit on a 3.2.1 Lenny-amd64 host. While the pv disk
driver works as expected, I encounter problems with the network driver.
I tried several installation scenarios, all with the same result.
My test looks like this:
I install gplpv, but without letting the networking driver install.
After reboot I RTL8139 ist still active and working, and gplpv devices
manage the disks.

BSOD w/ gplpv drivers and Windows 2008 R2 64-bit
Hey,
I''ve been trying to get the gplpv drivers working with Windows 2008 R2
64-bit on both a stock CentOS 5.8 install and CentOS 5.8 w/ Xen 4.1.2
from the gitco repos.
I''m getting a BSOD shortly after boot up and it can be seen at
http://techmonkeys.org/xen/ -- along with the qemu log.
Has anyone had success with these drivers and Windows 2008 R2 64-bit? If
so, what am I

xennet: skb rides the rocket: 20 slots
Hi Ian,
Today i fired up an old VM with a bittorrent client, trying to download some torrents.
I seem to be hitting the unlikely case of "xennet: skb rides the rocket: xx slots" and this results in some dropped packets in domU, I don''t see any warnings in dom0.
I have added some extra info, but i don''t have enough knowledge if this could/should be prevented from

Release 0.8.8 of GPL PV drivers for Windows
In the spirit of ''release early, release often'', here''s another binary
release...
http://www.meadowcourt.org/WindowsXenPV-0.8.8.zip
The only thing that''s changed since 0.8.7 is that xennet should work
under amd64 again.

Disabling driver signature enforcement for Windows DomUs
Hi all,
After loading the GplPV drivers for Windows Server 2008, I wanted to
get rid of the annoying F8 option when rebooting each time. I looked
at Ready Driver Plus, which seemed to work, but was only a
workaround. It also seemed to kill my terminal connection from Dom0.
After some research, I found another way:

Again: Release 0.8.4 GPL PV-Drivers for Windows
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hello James,
have you ever tested the pv-drivers on W2k SP4? ;-)
At first there is a little failure in install.bat. The version-number of
w2k starts with "5.00" instead of "5.0.". So your script couldn''t
recognize w2k.
The rest of the installation looks ok, but after rebooting the vm
nothing happens. Theres still the

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL by xennet.sys, Server 2008 x64
Hey guys,
I''m trying to get a gentoo dom0 running on some new Nehalem boxes.
Our dozen or so existing servers run a xenified 2.6.21, but we can''t get the
new Intel network chipset working with it.
So, I''m giving a pv_ops dom0 from xen-tip/master a go, and Xen 3.4.1 to go
with it. rebase/master is a bit too bleeding edge for me. So far, it''s working
great.
