rsync'ing samba shares
I know this has come up a bit in the past, but consider this situation: Two Samba4 DC's - and I want to "mirror" the data shares to the "backup" DC in case we lose the primary DC and it's file shares. [A cheap, dirty, poor-mans semi-CTDB. How did you ever guess that Red Green was helping me?!] The easiest way is probably rsync'ing the data. However, will that

Zero byte files
Hi all, I have a Centos 6 box running samba-3.6.9 and I have a problem with files turning to 0 bytes after being edited and saved. One of the users reported that he changed the name of two files and both ended up sized 0 bytes and opening them revealed them to be empty. Has anyone had a similar problem? I've been looking for 3 days and there's obvious pattern to the events

having issues with shares
We recently migrated our install from an ancient fedora 11 install of samba and openldap to a centos 6.3 setup with its openldap and samba. The domain has been totally recreated from scratch as the person that did the previous setup has not been employed here in many years. After fighting with shares for a while we mostly got them fixed and working. However the biggest issue now is when our GIS

Compiling samba4 hangs at [1815/3978] Compiling librpc/ndr/ndr_basic.c
Hi, I have tried both RC4 and from the repository but I can't seem to get samba4 to compile. I have rebuilt the OS (Centos 6.3) from scratch and I am still having the same issue. I get: WAF_MAKE=1 ./buildtools/bin/waf build Waf: Entering directory `/opt/samba-master/bin' Selected embedded Heimdal build [ 133/3978] Generating VERSION [ 168/3978] Generating smbd/build_options.c [1815/3978]

I haven't tried it on RaspberryPi, but if there's some specific Tripp Lite information I can help with, let me know. Thought I'd follow up in case someone else runs into this issue. In the end what worked for me was tweaking the udev rules. I have had no USB disconnects or stale data warnings so far. I only used one rule for my UPS: # /etc/udev/rules.d/62-nut-usbups.rules SUBSYSTEM!="usb", GOTO="nut-usbups_rules_end" # TrippLite # e.g. TrippLite SMART1500LCD - usbhid-ups

Thanks Ken. I'll plan to sit down and look up the protocol information over the next week or so and follow up. ________________________________ From: Ken Olum <kdo at cosmos.phy.tufts.edu> Sent: Tuesday, January 14, 2020 1:35:10 PM To: David Zomaya Cc: kdo at cosmos.phy.tufts.edu; layne.fowler at gmail.com; nut-upsuser at alioth-lists.debian.net Subject: [EXTERNAL] Re: [Nut-upsuser]

Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD will not stay shut down when power is disconnected
I see, so you kept the load.on.delay command but removed the check to see if it was handled. Did you do the same thing for the shutdown.stayoff logic? https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/blob/master/drivers/usbhid-ups.c#L562 This might be a dumb question but did this require you to recompile the kernel? These types of changes are way beyond my depth. Thank you for the direction! On Thu, Jan

Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD will not stay shut down when power is disconnected
Your suggestion of rebuilding the driver fixed the issue of the UPS turning back during a power failure. Now the UPS shuts down the clients, then powers off appropriately. If power returns it turns back on also. The only bug is if power returns before the UPS has turned the load off. In that case the UPS will remain off until it is manually turned on. This might just be a limitation of this

acl_tdb failed to convert file acl to posix permisions
We are using SAMBA 3.6.6 on Centos 5 with the acl_tdb VFS module. Our share is backed by storage on a SAN devices that does not support ACLs or extended attributes ... so we're trying the acl_tdb module as a mechanism to support Windows ACLs. We have verified that samba has ACL support enabled, and ACL support works find if we export the share from the local EXT4 filesystem. When trying to

Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting
My UPS is connected to a Raspberry Pi by USB. After a few hours of working, the service fails. Looking at kernel messages I noticed that the device is repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting. I have tried using a different USB port and using a brand new USB cable. I have not had success by changing config parameters like pollfreq/pollinterval/etc. What is causing the UPS to keep disconnecting?

Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD will not stay shut down when power is disconnected
When running 'sudo upsmon -c fsd' UPS turns off then back on after a delay as expected. But when power is disconnected and the command is ran, the UPS turns off but still turns back on again. Changing 'ondelay' to -1 or 0 does not change the behavior. How can I get the UPS load to stay turned off if there is no power? Or am I misunderstanding how to test this functionality?

[POSSIBLE FRAUD] Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: Help with Tripp Lite Internet600U
Tested a Ubuntu 18.04 LTS virtual machine with NUT 2.7.4 and a 3024 protocol Tripp Lite UPS (mine is a INTERNET550U, but same protocol) :/etc/nut$ lsusb | grep Tripp Bus 002 Device 004: ID 09ae:3024 Tripp Lite I it got generally working (outputting reasonable responses to upsc, although there are some issues with variables like frequency) by adding productid=3024 to my ups.conf. [POSSIBLE FRAUD] Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: Help with Tripp Lite Internet600U
"Can't claim USB device [09ae:3024]: could not detach kernel driver from interface 0: Operation not permitted" Is probably an issue with NUT grabbing the UPS... can you disconnect and reconnect the USB cable and try again? If that fails, maybe a udev rule will help. Thank you, David Zomaya Tripp Lite <http://www.tripplite.com/> ________________________________ From:
