Hi All I have a requirement to consume a 3rd party web service from my Rails application. How to consume XMLRPC/SOAP web services in Rails?
Hi, does anybody know of any good HowTo for consuming XML-RPC and/or SOAP web services in Rails? I found some for Ruby (via soap4r/xmlrpc4r), but I was wondering whether there is something built into Rails already. So far it looks like there are methods to create web services, but not to consume them. Ingo Weiss

REST / WS adapter for Rails
Is anyone building an adapter that would enable a Rails application to interface to a REST or SOAP web API? It would enable a Rails app to consume REST or SOAP via a model. Or is not worth the effort because web services are so different from databases, even though they are typically data sources? Please reply to richardc@ASO.com. -- Richard Cunningham E-Mail:

rails - web service - method name formatting problem
Hi all, I''m using AWS to consume a web service written in Java. I set up the API class with: api_method :extractName, :expects => [{:arg0 => :string}], :returns => [:string] Note the lowercase ''e'' of the method name - (because the service is written in Java :)) My problem is that when this goes out across http, it becomes formatted as

SOAP Web Service Exception
I am working on building a prototype for a Rails Web Service that will be used potentially by non-ruby/rails languages. When testing using the *invoke* scaffold I have no problem getting the correct result, however when using a 3rd party PHP client I get a *NoMethodError (undefined method `collect'' for #<SOAP::SOAPNil:0x24ea1bc>):* exception from the rails Webrick web server.

Web Services/Invoke Inconsistencies
Hey all, Got a bit of a long one here, so bear with me while I try to hash out the details... better to give too much than not enough. So we''re using the ActionWebService in order to communicate with a 3rd-party software client. We''ve created the API as discussed in Agile Web Development, and, in fact, invoke actually works perfectly. We have three example XML posts... they

doc/lit ws consumption
I am new to ruby and rails. I am having trouble consuming a java web service with the soap/wsdlDriver library. My java web service, FooService, has one method, search(String). I am sending the data from a form to this method in my controller: def search searchTerm = params[:searchTerm] factory = SOAP::WSDLDriverFactory.new("http://localhost:8080/services/FooService?wsdl")

Using class or global variable in rails - Are there any threading issues or race conditions?
Hi All I am newbie to Rails.. and I am trying to invoke a third party webservice using SOAP::RPC::Driver object. Now I can''t store that in session (it throws TypeError) so the next best thing (on the suggestion by Ola from this mailing list) I am storing it in Class variable or I can store this rpc_driver object in global variable. In brief my concerns are related to race conditions that

Need help with SOAP and .NET
I am trying to consume a .NET webservice from http://ws.melissadata.com/dqws/address.asmx Whenever I call soap.doSingleRecord I receive an error saying that I have an "Empty XML Request Structure". Looking at the sample SOAP request it appears that all the settings I am sending need to be wrapped in <Request> tags. So it lookes like I need to build a seperate Request object and

ActionWebService and namespaces
Hi all, I''ve tried to search the mailing list, web, etc. and haven''t found anything that seems to answer my question. I have a WSDL for a web service written in Java, and I''m trying to consume it in ruby using ActionWebService. I''ve created my API and some struct classes. I''ve found the :namespace option to ActionWebService::Client::Soap.new, but

How to stop SOAP4R/OpenSSL requiring cert?
Hi I want to consume some web services that are only available over HTTPS. My method looks like this: def lookup_id myid=params[:id] driver = SOAP::WSDLDriverFactory.new("https://server.com/xxx.wsdl").create_rpc_driver @p=driver.verifyId(AUTH_TOKEN, PIN, myid) end Although this works fine on my local box (with a warning), when deployed to the staging server I get:

Rspec on rails with out database?
Hi all, I am trying to use rspec_on_rails in a Rails app that doesn''t have a database. so far I have just been faking it out by dumping in a sqlite3 database just to make Rails happy. I was using for test::unit a rake task that eliminated the calls to database prep: # Added this .rake file to keep Rake happy without a database. # Remove once a database is in the picture.
