Maximum number of paralel connections
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I was wondering, most of the p2p programs are bandwith wasters, because they open lots of parallel connections.
I have 5 queues to prioritize traffic, but these p2p open thousands of connections and my systems gets REALLY HIGH latence.
Does anybody of you know by any means, for a DSL connections, the ammount of parallel connections for a good rate

Guaranteed rate per class and maximum ceiling per element in class???
Hi all,
It is my understanding that with HTB, the rate and the ceiling are divided over the elements of the class. E.g. using a rate of 100 kb and a ceiling of 2000 kb for a class with 10 elements on a 100Mb NIC, the effect of the ceiling will be that if all elements are generating their maximimum possible trafic they will be effectively limited to ~ ceiling / number of elements, in this case

Large number of HTB classes
I am planning a setup with thousands of classes in a HTB qdisc, say from
1:1000 to 1:2000, each with a very small rate and a big ceil, for fair
sharing of a 45mbit link.
I suspect some problems could be lurking in there.
Anyone having good/bad experience with such number of classes?
Simon

Question about iptables and maximum file size
Hi,
I would like to know if there is any possibility to select from iptables the
files with maximum size of 300 kbytes and send them to a proxy server.
As I know until now you can only mark files with maximum size of 64 kbytes.
thank you in advance,
Codrin.

TBF maximum bucket size
I''m trying to fill a token bucket with enough tokens to burst several gigs
of data. However, it doesn''t seem to get any higher than ~3.9GB:
>tc qdisc add dev eth0 root tbf rate 1440kbit latency 50ms \
burst 16000000000
>tc qdisc show dev eth0
qdisc tbf 800b: rate 1440Kbit burst 3908420240b lat 2197.8s
A smaller attempt of ~1.6 gigs works just fine:
>tc qdisc

Maximum count of qdiscs
Hi,
Fedora 4, 2.6.15.6
What is the maximum count of qdiscs attached to one dev ?
It seems, that only 2048 qdiscs can be attached. Is this correct ?
If I try to attache more qdiscs, it complains that file already exists and
error talking to kernel.
How to increase this count ?
Thank You
vitula

limiting the bandwidth for *each* ip in some class
hello all, i got my htb running and controlling my
bandwidth right, but i have a doubt.
i configured HTB to limit my class 192.168.0.0/24 to
128kbit. but i want 128kbit for *each* machine on this
class, and not for the entire class. when 2 machines
in 192.168.0.0/24 are downloading one file, they share
the 128kbit bandwidth between them, using 64kbit for
each. why i can get all machine on this

tc class class id problem Limitation
Hello,
I have been working on tc class . But when the classid reaches 5 digit ,
it DOES NOT ACCEPT THAT ...
see the example below ::
tc class add dev eth0 parent 10:36 classid 10:13310 cbq bandwidth 10Mbit
rate 32Kbit allot 1514 weight 3.2Kbit prio 5 maxburst 20 avpkt 1000 bounded
See the bold digit !! this command doesn''t work , but if i use with 4
digit then it works :

Class C network 223.255.255.x
Hi,
Most networks are using either 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x , but
was curious If I can use the range 223.255.255.x for my backbone routing,
this looks like a nice block to use as most ppl don''t use this, specially if
you build quite a big intranet
what about the whole 223.x.x.x block, will this be used on the internet?
sorry if its a stupid questions
Thanks

htb: class isn''t work conserving ?!
I am seeing a lot of messages like this on my console and in
/var/log/messages:
Feb 9 19:27:55 rnsa kernel: htb: class 20001 isn''t work conserving ?!
The class it''s referring to is the only subclass of an HTB qdisc. Can
anyone tell me why HTB would complain in this way? If I understand
correctly, HTB isn''t a work-conserving qdisc anyway.

Class ID limits
Hey everyone,
I had a question about the class id''s using the TC command. I''m
using a command that looks something like this:
tc class add dev eth1 parent 10: classid 10:$variable cbq bandwidth
200Mbit rate 512Kbit allot 1514 prio 5 maxburst 20 avpkt 1000 bounded
That''s just an example. My problem is I''m guessing the $variable is not
allowed to be anything
