Re: LARTC Digest, Vol 34, Issue 12
Hey Marek, I´know that i must to works whith the INGRESS (instead of EGRESS), i´ve well formed my kernel. My others TC rules for source IP address (not for MAC address) does work fine...!!!, the problem is whith the MAC because is a not "IP PROTOCOL" and for that i must to use the "u32/u16 match" to solve it, and if i make an analogy from my others INGRESS rules applied to Src

Delay packets by 50ms
Hi all, I am trying to solve a tiny problem that is trivial to solve using dummynet (FreeBSD). I just want to add a delay of 50ms to each outgoing packet from an interface. This is to simulate a large pool of multiple modem users so I also need to add b/w limits etc (which seems to be easy to do). From the mailing list I could fine 2 qdiscs that can simulate latency : "delay" &

Segfault in 2.2.0p1 due to connect() changes in Linux 2.4
Hello, I upgraded (?) one of my machines to Linux kernel 2.4.0-test9, and sshd started failing. Specifically, the sshd child processes would segfault if a user requested X11 forwarding. I tracked the problem down to these bits of code: channels.c, x11_create_display_inet, line 1738: sock = socket(ai->ai_family, SOCK_STREAM, 0); if (sock < 0) { if (errno != EINVAL) {

problem deleting filters
I have setup some qdiscs and filters more or less straight from the howto. they work pretty good. however, when i delete one filter or all of them, they all appear to be deleted (as shown by "tc filter show dev ppp0"). the real problem is, that as soon as i recreate a single filter, all the deleted filters reappear along with the new one. thus i have an ever increasing set of filters.

HP DL360, tg3 driver, bonding and link flapping
Hi *, I'm running into a problem configuring bonding on an HP DL 360 G4p, running 4.3 + tg3 driver version 3.43f. I'm connecting eth0 and eth1 to a Cisco 2948 (CatOS 8.1(3)) and receiving flapping notices. The ethernet address is that of the primary interface. I have tried several different modes, including balance-rr (0), active-backup (1), and balance-alb (6). All have the

[PATCH v2 10/11] vmware: set cpu capabilities during platform initialization
There is no need to set the same capabilities for each cpu individually. This can be done for all cpus in platform initialization. Handle limit in filter
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I''ve written a minimal sort of Perl module that dynamically creates and destroys traffic control rules for specific IPs. I''m currently using it for a user bandwidth control application at a client site. The module essentially gets Ethernet device(s), IP address and in/out speeds as input and dynamically creates classes, queues

gypsy, and not only
hi i ve seen one of your replies here and i saw that you receomend 2 modifications in the kernel files in order to improve htb. first in pkt_sched.h, changing PSCHED_JIFFIES to PSCHED_CPU. and then, sch_htb.c, changing HYSTERESIS from 1 to 0. is it that simple? i mean i just change these here variables and i get better results? i ve done a search and found the first file in 3 locations. where

htb : server trafficcontrol
Hi everyone, I have a small problem. I have my debian server setup in my home. I have setup htb that is working perfectly. The only problem I have is to control the traffic server <-> internet I have a daemon (bittorrent) and I would like to limit its download to a certail amount. How can I do that ? I have tried layer7 but it seems I''m doing something wrong in the htb script.

Avoid dropped packets
I´m shaping with htb with a kernel 2.4.25 compiled with PSCHED_CPU. What i´m noticing (in mrtg) is that traffic coming in to eth0 (internet side) is much bigger than eth1(Lan side). I think this is due to packets being dropped right? In this case, is there any way to avoid this? because right now traffic coming from the router is being wasted right? This is the output of tc: tc -s class show

maximum class
Hi, currently I''m using 48 class with htb & very stable Is there any maximum number of class I can create in a single linux box ? I need 500 or even 1000 class for campuss network. Any help appreciated thanks & regards Tino _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lartc

Hardware Requirements for qdisc htb/sfq
I am planning to replace our cisco 7200 core router with Linux. We currently serve around 1500 (3/4 DSL - different router) customers with probably half of them being concurrent at any given time. We have a fiber network and customers currently aren''t managed as far as how much bandwidth they can use at anytime. Therefore I have constructed a working tc qdisc Linux router as a test. It

Need new way to improve SMP scalability for network router
Hi, Currently I use dual cpu xeon server x86-64 with hp enabled two intel Gbit Nics 82547 I have assigned every NIC irq to one phisical procesor but the two virtual procesors stay idle and are not used for ether routeing or shaping Is there a way to split work from two NICs on 4 CPUs ?

u32 hashing filter - deletion problem!
Hi there, I''m having a bit of a headache because of the u32 filter with hashing... My router administration system updates filter configuration differentially. Therefore I need to delete filters sometimes. I know that by deleting root class I''d make all filters go away, but I can''t use that option in this particular case. When I delete even a single u32 hashed filter I
