Multiple Internet Connection, established connection dropping issues
To begin with I have not applied and am not using the patches provided
by Julian Anastasov.
http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org/~julian/
I do not believe at the moment they apply to the problem I am having. If
they are I will go through the process of applying the patch. They
mostly have to due with what happens when a connection dies. At the
moment both of my connections are live, and I am having

Trying the configuration in nano.txt
Hi!
(I sent other mails some time ago, about not-using the Julian''s patches).
When I try the configuration from Nano.txt, having the Julian''s
patches applied, only the first ''hop'' of the routing table "222" is
used (according to tables shown in Nano.txt).
I saw that this question was asked some time ago, with no answer.
Maybe someone can tell me the

RES: ADVANCED ROUTING USING IPROUTE2 -> Multiple Firewalls
Hi William. Thanks a lot for your help.
Im having some trouble recompiling my kernel after a installed the
patch.
Im running RH 7.3 with kernel 2.4.18-3.
The patch I installed is routes-2.4.16-6.diff. I got no errors
installing it.
I added the multipath support, and recompiled it.
The make dep and the make bzImage went fine.
I got error during the make modules.
These are the errors:

Load-balancing with multipath routes (1 NIC + 2 GWs)
Greetings,
I''m trying to set up some sort of load-balancing on a Linux (Trustix)
gateway by using multipath routes, however I''m stuck with some problems.
The idea is that this gateway (odd as it may seem) only has one external
interface, which should route packets to two different gateways (Ciscos).
The gateway''s external interface and the routers are all on the same

multipath feature
Hello
Will someonekindly update me on whether julians''s patch is now
a standard feature on the linux kernel release? Is there a decision to
provide the same feature but re-worked in some way (i.e out-of
the-box dead gateway detection for example) in a future release.
Or do I still need to patch the latest kernel release, and do all the
"stuff" as explained in the

Multipath IP Masquerade
Previously I attempted load balancing between 3 interfaces with limited
bandwidth but a common gateway with much more bandwidth using QoS and teql.
This had little to know luck because routes never seemed to come out right.
Someone pointed me in the direction of http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/nano.txt to try
and set up a multipath route instead. After setting this up it seems that
all of the routes are

dgd/iproute/iptables multihoming problem
I am running 2.4.20 with Julian Anastasov''s patches
(routes-2.4.20-9.diff), iptables v1.2.6a, iproute2-ss010824 on Debian.
I have set up our internal gateway to multihome 2 T1''s as described in
http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org/~julian/nano.txt . The only
difference is that I use multiple IP''s on the external interfaces.

multipath routing
I have a private lan that is connected to the world via 3 dsl lines. I put
up a linux box that handles all the dsl lines, lan gateway and all is
working well...until...one of the dsl lines goes down. My routing table is:

x.x.x.x dev ppp1 proto kernel scope link src x.x.x.x

Finally: A working case of two adsl load balance
First of all i wanna thanks Christoph Simon for the support.
Only after his reply to my email i could see the real solution to
the problem (Valeu mesmo cara... me ajudou pra caramba!

Here is what i learned in a month of research:
I tried A LOT of things to do load balance, including the one at
LARTC homepage. The only tutorial that REALLY works in my

Ok ive been trying to get this to work for about half a year now. Ive

my problem. Ive found some solutions, but they only led me to yet more
problems.
What we want to do is the following:

Multiple Uplinks with the same gateway ip?!
Hi folks,
i spent my whole day trying to set up my linux router using load
balancing with multiple uplinks. I mainly focused on the nano howto, but
somewhere I have a big mistake within my head.
Basically the load-balancing is working, but not on a per-connection
basis - just on a per packet basis. Practically this is not usable of
course <g>
But as far as I understood it should work..

load balancing between two default gateways
Hi list gurus,
long story short we have firewall machine which is the default gateway
for our clients and firewall send traffic out to Internet via cisco router.
On cisco we have two serial interfaces 1Mb and 2Mb.
On firewall
#route add default gw xxx.xxx.xx.xxx (for 2mb)
#route add default gw xxx.xxx.xx.xxx (for 1mb)
and the same rule for Imb link route packets via these two links.
However I

Multipath Routing in same subnet - Please take a look
Hello.
I have the problem that I have two gateways on the same subnet, 80.237.244.1 and 80.237.244.33. Both
gateways are 100 MBit cards, so I have 2 times 100 MBit to the Internet. The NIC in the server is a
gigabit-card, so this card is easy able to use both gateways for outgoing traffic.
Now I just want to use both gateways for my outgoing traffic but no matter what I do, it doesnt
work. I

Problems with ICQ etc. on nano-setup
I administer a nano-setup on a dorm-network with a couple of hundred
active users.
The setup uses 2 x 2 2Mb/s DSLs, meaning two DSLs from each of two
different ISPs.
It works fine except for some minor glitches:
https-sites often kicks users. This was solved by tying outbound https
to a single DSL. Not the best solution but it works so far that users
dont kicked from the sites anymore. Now

iproute2/nano-howto: dual external routing, a "virtual subnet"
A site I administer has dual T1''s. We have this set up according to
NANO-HOWTO[1] using Julian''s routes patch on a late model 2.4 kernel.
All is well, has been working well for a long time.
Recently one of our T1 providers went belly up and we got something
better. Now we have a /28 where previously we only used one IP per
interface.
Present interfaces:
eth0 - T1#1, single
