Q: best solution to stop traffic to huge amount of unregistered hosts
Hi perhaps someone else already had the same problem. Problem description: I''m running a class B University network with approx 10k hosts attached. I would now like to stop traffic from and to hosts in my network not already registered in my DNS server. This means I''ve to handle with approx 50k rules|routes. Sure I can summarize the unalloctaed address space a little bit with

RE: win32etc test failure
Excellent! Like I said, I really need to do some code cleanup. I''ll also be adding the config_group and config_user methods :) Dan -----Original Message----- From: Date, Shashank [Non-Employee] [mailto:Shashank.Date@mail.sprint.com] Sent: Monday, March 01, 2004 10:19 AM To: Berger, Daniel Subject: RE: [Win32utils-devel] RE: win32etc test failure That worked ! For delete_user, try this patch: etc.c, line 639: - lpHost = (LPCWSTR)STR2CSTR(rbHost); +lpHost = AllocWideLString(rbHost); Lemme know how it goes. RE: win32etc test failure
Ok - time for me to patch and update the docs! Thanks for the testing! RE: win32etc test failure
Yep, I agree. Well, what would you prefer? I handle it for you or you handle it yourself? I''m tempted to go with the former because, well, it''s been there for a while now. I can even use strtok to detect if ''\\\\'' is at the beginning of the string and add them only if not found. I''ll have to take a look at delete user - it worked for add_user,

Viral activitiy coming from an IP in your network.
Hi, my name is Grant Taylor. I am a subscriber to the LARTC mail list lartc@mailman.ds9a.nl. The LARTC mail lists has been plagued with viral email coming from changing IPs in your one of your subnets. Based on the fact that the WhoIs information below says that the subnet in question is a dial up pool this would explain the changing IPs. In less than 6 days the list has received 14 viral

tinc-1.0pre8 fails to compile on RH 9.0
Hi, I had posted a similar question a few days back(but my mails started bouncing back, when I tried to post to the newsgroup). So here is it again. My System: Rh 9.0 (2.4.20-13.9), openssl-0.9.7a-5, openssl-devel-0.9.7a-5 Autoconf tools: autoconf-2.57-3, automake-1.6.3-5 1. When I try to compile tinc-1.0 pre8 on my RH 9.0 system, it fails.. When I do a ./configure, it aborts saying:

Could anyone explain the slot and bucket concept in SFQ to me?
Dear all, I''m reading codes in sch_sqf.c in kernel 2.4 of Linux. I find I messed up with the concept of slot, bucket and hash tables. Could anyone explain the data stucture of the hash tables a little to me. Thanks very much. Best, Franklin BTW: I can not understand why the number of entries of dep[SFQ_DEPTH*] should be twice:( _______________________________________________ LARTC

burst according to time limit??? (plz dont blame me for previous html,Outlook)
I was wondering if there is a queue with which I could have a regular rate limit at some kbits (say 256kbits) for my ethernet stations, but allow burstable sessions with a multiple limit (512 kbits) for a specific time (say 3 minutes). Of course, this is the same with having bursts of some Megabit buckets (measuring bits and not time), but for such big bursts i think it isn''t what i

the routing cache and route selection; is this correct?
Hello all, I do not read C very well (especially kernel C). Though I have tried to muddle my way through an understanding of what''s going on in fib_hash.c, fib_rules.c, and route.c, I have not succeeded to my satisfaction, hence my post. I''m trying to document the general process of route selection, and have come up with the following overview. Could somebody point out any

Please document this
Stephen, This REALLY needs to be fixed in the code; tc should reject as a syntax error any "add filter" command that does not include a "prio" parameter. It also needs to be documented. === From LARTC mailing list === > Dear list, > After much code crunching and beating my head against the wall > (literally), I discovered the faulty code. Re: LARTC Digest, Vol 34, Issue 12
Hey Marek, I´know that i must to works whith the INGRESS (instead of EGRESS), i´ve well formed my kernel. My others TC rules for source IP address (not for MAC address) does work fine...!!!, the problem is whith the MAC because is a not "IP PROTOCOL" and for that i must to use the "u32/u16 match" to solve it, and if i make an analogy from my others INGRESS rules applied to Src

is this scenario possible ???
hello . i have no problem shaping incoming traffic from WAN how do i shape outgoing traffic to WAN depending on the speed limit of each subnet .... ex: 10.10.6.0 --> 512kbps (DOWNLOAD / UPLOAD) 10.10.5.0 --> 256kbps (DOWNLOAD / UPLOAD) do i have to used forward handle, and used iptables -s 10.10.6.0/24 -d WAN -j MARK --set-mark 101 and used iptables -s 10.10.5.0/24 -d WAN -j MARK
