Bit Torrent Application
Hey All,
Can someone suggest a bit torrent application for CentOS 6.4 along with
the name of the repo where it resides.
Add/Remove Software, and several google attempts, have come up empty.

Cannot get rtorrent to run
If I'm writing about this in the wrong place, please let me know. However,
when I
uninstalled rtorrent and then re-installed it, I kept getting this very
same error:
$ rtorrent foobar.torrent
rtorrent: symbol lookup error: rtorrent: undefined symbol:
_ZN7torrent10ThreadBase8m_globalE
Why is this happening?

How do I link to custom libs without affecting system libs (LD_LIBRARY_PATH)
Hi, i am getting an issue with rtorrent that is related to my curl libaries.
In summary it requires a later curl libary than CentOS 5.4 uses for its system files (CentOS uses curl libs version 7.15.5, rtorrent requires 7.19.2 or greater).
To get around this I would like to download the latest curl version and compile and link to rtorrent without affecting system files.
How can i statically

Shorewall in Mandriva
Hi Tom and folks,
Mandriva is shipping shorewall in its main distribution for some time
now. It is built on a custom .spec, but I keep it in sync with latest
versions of shorewall package.
I heard that there were some issues with Mandriva''s package of
shorewall, but it was before I started working on it, and the guys that
were maintaining it before are no longer working on it.

[C6] Some typical apps missing?
Hi everyone! :-)
I just installed CentOS 6 on one of my desktop machines, and yum now
tells me that some of my favorite apps are not present in any of the
repositories I configured. To name a few: ktorrent, kile, krusader,
pavucontrol, mplayerplug-in (or is it now gecko-mediaplayer), xine,
xmms, and so on... All these apps were readily available for C5, and I
used them happily.
I am mostly

CentOS5 consistent media check failures 2 - 6.
Folks,
As much as I hate to, I feel I need to post my long story and ask help.
Shortly after the release announcement, I kicked off rtorrent and
downloaded the CD and DVD images. Since my cable provider does my
"throttling", I disabled throttling and shared for several days,
"returning" several GBs at no objectionable loss I could discern.
While that was going on, I used

yum cannot find bittorent rpm at dag
I am trying to get the x86_64 isos of CentOS-5.2. I wish to use
bittorrent. The last time that I did this I required the bittorent
package from Dag's repository. I have configured
/etc/yum.repos.d/DagWieers.repo thus:

OT: Bittorrent clients
Hi all,
Just switched my home computer from Windows 7 to CentOS 6.6 and I'm having a slight bit of trouble with the bittorrent-clients.
* Transmission is fine but lacks "a bit" in features.
* Vuze is my preferred bt-client but gives me horrendous gfx-artifacts, like not showing the torrent name (it's white text on a white background or some such...).
* Deluge is better, and

ulimit -n ignored/ Max files reached
I am having a problem with running utorrent on wine. After running for a little while I eventually get:
Error: Too many files open.
I have set ulimit -n unlimited which gives me:
Code:
root@???: 02:43 AM :~# ulimit -n
1048576
root@???: 02:43 AM :~#
Also its got plenty of file descriptors so it doesn't seem like wine is truly using up to that amount:
Code:
root@???: 02:43 AM

How to fight with encrypted p2p
Hi
I believe that whole question is in topic.
Is there any way to recognize ( and then shape ) p2p traffic which is encrypted?
Modern p2p clients have this ability moreover some of them have this enabled by default.
Now I''m using ipp2p for iptables but as I know this doesn''t recognize encrypted traffic.
Thanks in advance.
Pozdrawiam

Upgrade from Centos 4.4 to Centos 5
Hi,
Is there a yum way to upgrade from CentOS 4.4 to CentOS 5?
Or I just need to download the installation CDs and upgrade using
them, as I did many times with Fedora.
best regards,

How to: initialize, setValidity, copy-constructor
Hello list,
I'm having troubles setting up a basic calss hierarchy with S4.
Here is a simplified schema of what I'd like to do:
- Two classes: A and B that extends A
- Ensure that the slots added by B are consistent with the slots of A
- Let A initialize itself (I'm not supposed to know the internal cooking
of A)
- By default set the slots of B based on the slots that A initialized

push_with_attributes not inserting default values
I have a join table A_B with columns[a_id, b_id, c_data default 1,
d_data default 1].
If I do:
@aobj.bobjs.push_with_attributes(@bobj,{:c_data => 0})
I find that the row inserted, has d_data set to 0 and not the default
value specified in the database, which is 1. So I am having to
explicitly set it using :
@aobj.bobjs.push_with_attributes(@bobj,{:c_data => 0, :d_data => 1}).
Is this

Combatting DDoS attack
Hi,
I''ve been working the past 8 hrs combatting DDoS attacks on websites and dedicated servers I host for clients.
They''re hitting one specific IP address, but coming from thousands of external IP addresses.
I use:
shorewall-4.0.10-3.noarch
How can I tackle this? I''ve blocked many subnets in the blacklist file but it''s made very little difference.
