SAM program and R mirror - which port to open?
To whom this may concern,
I am having issues installing a program called "SAM" (Statistical Analysis of Microarrays) which is an excel add in and requires the use of R. Due to the firewall at my hospital, R cannot connect to a mirror and therefore cannot install necessary files for the complete installation of SAM. The IT department has asked me which "port" needs to be opened

I''m trying to setup a Model to use this library, but can''t seem to wrap my

My Model (Foo) looks like:

internet proxy settings (win)
I cannot access internet through R.
My IT-guys told me that I should set the proxy and the port and then
everything will be fine. Where can I set them?
I use R 2.6.2 under Windows 2000 and these settings are those of the
Internet Explorer (no password).
I read http://cran.at.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/rw-FAQ.html#The-Internet-download-functions-fail_002e

Having problems with the autocomplete on my linux box and firefox.
When I use form tags it breaks, without form tags everything works fine.
Exact copy of the example provided, but I added form tags.. The initial
search and select works but then the box sort of "locks up" and I can''t

R not responding (must force quit) when saving graphic to PDF (bug?)
Dear colleagues,
I wish to report a problem I encounter when trying to save a graphic to
file. When I produce a graphic and try to save it R becomes unresponsive
and I must force quit, and then restart R. The problem occurs when I try to
overwrite an existing graphic: for example when I made changes to the
graphic and want to save the graphic using the original file name. It only
happens when I

What happened to --desktop geom?
Hey,
I'd like to apologize in advance if this is an old issue that everyone
already dealt with in some new mechanism...
But I compiled today's CVS for the first time in a few months, and when i
tried to fire up programs/games with --desktop geom 640x480 (or any other
dimensions) I get an "unknown option --desktop" error and the "usage" list
pops up. I read the man

Error in compactPDF/find_gs_cmd or documentation?
I am using tools::compactPDF for reducing the size of some pdf-files
with GhostScript. I had some trouble in the beginning as the
documentation seems not to match the usage of the function. For
GhostScript, one has to set the argument gs_cmd, which has the following
description:
gs_cmd - Character string giving the path to the GhostScript executable,
if that is to be used. On Windows this is

R not responding (must force quit) when saving graphic to PDF (bug?)
Dear Wolfgang,
Thanks for your response.
No, I haven't tried doing the complete reinstallation as you suggest. If I
recall correctly, this has happened on previous occasions but like I said
in my email it's not all that disruptive to my workflow. It's more like a
'first world problem'.
I was encouraged to submit the query because I had correspondence with
someone involved

Ports
I realise this isn't exactly an R query, but does anyone know what
ports I need to open in order to get the install package function
working? It's blocked by our University firewall.
I have been asked for the following info and I don't know where to
find it or how to get it. I guess my computer knows this info - it
knows where it's trying to connect to - but I don't

FUD or foolishness? Windows XP Home and Samba
