time for "balance"
Hallo, linux-btrfs,
I''m working with btrfs for some days.
btrfs-progs-20101101, kernel 2.6.35.8 (both self compiled).
First step:
mkfs.btrfs /dev/sdd1
mount /dev/sdd1 /srv/MM
for a 2 TByte partition, worked well.
Copying about 1,5 TByte data to this partition worked well.
Second step:
btrfs device add /dev/sdc1 /srv/MM

switching "balance" into background
Hallo, linux-btrfs,
I can''t switch a running "btrfs filesystem balance ..." via
ctrl z
bg
into the background, with other jobs this way works.
The stopping command "ctrl z" doesn''t work.
(may be on other keyboards it''s "ctrl y")
What goes wrong?

Hallo,
I use "isohybrid <myimage>.iso" for creating an *.iso which can boot

Booting from CD works fine (since years). Booting from USB stick leads

Perhaps a

Windows 10 compatibility?
Helmut,
Thanks. Yes, the Windows 7 clients are able to connect, and we don't have any 8/8.1 clients.

Kernel 3.4.6: cifs problem
Hallo,
I've just tried kernel 3.4.6, self compiled, with the ".config" from
kernel 3.3.7.
Samba version 3.5.14 (slackware)
When I run a script with (among many other lines) the command
mount.cifs //$share/$src /path/to/$target \
-o noperm,sec=ntlmv2,$Loginparms
(which runs without any problem under kernel 3.3.7) then I get an error
message (some cifs problem), and the

Samba 3.6 security fixes
Thank you for the responses!
Hi Helmut, I actually prefer moving into a newer version that has all the
great new features, but due to policies inside our firm it will be a long
process. I find the idea of modifying the new version Samba to start up
like the old version. Very crafty! :)
Hi Volker, yes we do have a support contract with Red Hat and Oracle. The
version we are currently using is

LMPassword and NTPassword
Hallo,
I have to transfer samba passwords from an LDAP installation to a non-
LDAP installation, passwddb is smbpasswd.
LDAP shows "sambaLMPassword" and "sambaNTPassword"; smbpasswd needs 2
password entries.
Can I copy the above LDAP passwords? If yes: what is what?

Hallo,
"smbclient" doesn't work with the slackware packages samba-4.3.1 and
4.3.2, it has worked with 4.2.1 and older versions.
smbclient
answers with "segmentation fault", on two testing machines (where 4.2.1
has worked well).
The slackware packets are compiled with

reading "write list" from a file
Hallo,
for a school server I'd like the option
write list = "/path/to/class-8a-list"
for the share [class-8a]
Ok - I can work with
[class-8a]
...
include "/path/to/writelistdefinition.txt"
...
but that's more ugly.
