Linux Kernel Timer Frequency and Asterisk
Ok here is a real geek question,
I building my own linux kernel for my asterisk system and came across
the kernel setting for the timer frequency. I have one of 3 hardcode
choices 100Hz, 250 Hz and 1000Hz. From what I understand the default
Freq was changed from 100Hz in kernel 2.4 to 1000Hz (1KHz) in kernel
2.6. Timing is a BIG issue in asterisk with all the TDM and zap channel
stuff.

Adduser help
at
http://wiki.openpbx.org/tiki-index.php?page=Easy+route+to+building+OpenPBX.org
there is the following adduser command:
adduser --no-create-home --ingroup openpbx --disabled-password
--disabled-login openpbx
This does NOT seem to be the right format for Centos. So far, using
man, I have come up with;
adduser -M -g openpbx
What else do I need?

Zaptel under FC6
Hi, all
I am building a new server. Have installed FC 6 and put in TDM400 card.
Checked out latest asteriusk code, run make install in zaptel directory.
So far all is fine.
Now I am trying to install the drivers.
# modprobe zaptel
FATAL: Module zaptel not found.
Fair enough, no zaptel driver is found on the system.
Is there are any known problems with FC6? I did not have much trouble

T38 fax solution with Asterisk possible?
Hi,
I am looking for a very low cost way of receiving and sending T38 fax
reliably. Is there any possible solution using Asterisk as the PSTN SIP
gateay and Digium E1/T1 card? Is there other open source package that can
help to accomplish this purpose?

Mark

Connecting GSM Phone to Asterisk Box
Hi All,
I have a telephony project for which I need
to build a prototype to demo for management.
The prototype must work on a GSM phone network.
In the demo system, a call from GSM phone comes
into the demo box. The demo box runs CallWeaver.
Callweaver picks up the GSM call, answers it and
plays a sould file, then dials out to a second GSM
phone somewhere and connects them so they talk.

T.38 faxing with spandsp and Grandstream HT.486
Hello !
I 'm trying T.38 faxig with spandsp using rxfax/txfax as fax terminal.
As another endpoint I 'm using Grandstream HT 486 ATA and a fax machine.
Has anybody success with the HT486 as T.38 terminal ?
ATA as originator: I managed only onetimes a successfull T.38 fax
session. The other times the HT486 did not initiate a re-invite with
T.38 parameters. Or shall the Terminator

T.38 Faxing and Asterisk
I understand that Asterisk 1.4 should support T.38 pass-through, but I
need Asterisk (or something on the Asterisk box) to act as a T.38
endpoint. Judging from the unclaimed $12,000USD bounty, it doesn't
appear that Asterisk itself can do this.

Does anyone have any experience with this, or are able to point to an
example of this working?

Distributed FAX - How to best complement asterisk ?
Hi list,
I'm evaluating a private telephony scenario of about 20
locations - 300 phones, 50 FAX machines.
Initial overview points to the installation of asterisk at three
locations connected to the PSTN via ISDN PRI.
All other locations, small by themselves, would get SIP
phones managed by asterisk, since there is good IP
connectivity between all sites.
Now on to the

call center running Asterisk - sound quality - critical!
Hi,
I am using Asterisk for a call center on a Dual Xeon machine..
I currently have
109 active channels
53 active calls
Every body is complaining about quality and cpu is around 80% idle.
Is there any tuning I can do???
Besides that, Asterisk normally goes down once or twice per day...
Thank you

1.1.1-1 gotcha with Fedora Rawhide package
I just installed the Rawhide package on my CentOS 5 system. The one item
that bit me is that the config file defaults to using interface "[::]" so
it only listens on IPv6. (This is from a patch in the package that changes
the upstream default of "*", so it only affects those using the Fedora
package.)
For those wanting to track the issue, here's the Bugzilla:

Disallow folder delete
Is there a straightforward way to disallow the deletion of all IMAP
mailboxes?
I have a user who's deleted an important IMAP mailbox and I'm now
recovering a recent copy from the backup. But I'd rather just blanket
disallow all folder deletions.
The user is using Thunderbird and this has happened more than once so I
suspect Tbird is willing to let a folder get deleted too easily.

Slightly OT: OpenPBX.org and Freeswitch
This is slightly OT in that it isn't specifically *-related, but I was
wondering what the members of the * user community felt about these two
subjects. I've been perusing the OpenPBX.org mail list and the current hot
topic is the fact that their project has come to a grinding halt. They are
concerned that they don't have enough people working on their project. They
feel that * has
