Having trouble using data returned by Ajax.request
Hello everyone, I''m new here.
I''ve been working with prototype and plotr for about a month now, off
and on, and I have pretty much hit the wall on using the data returned
by Ajax.Request.
I''m using some php code to return a string:
{''foo'': [[0,0.0865334429075127], [1,0.0828179861705063],
[2,0.0828173042602942], [3,0.0841707718624196]]}

Does String.evalScripts() work on well-formed script tags?
Does String.evalScripts() work when the opening SCRIPT tag of a SCRIPT
block contains common attributes? I''ve tried and it does not appear
to be working. Here''s an example:

//
<!--
alert(''look! it works!'');

TypeError : transport.responseText has no properties
Hello all,
I''m using prototype in conjunction with Extjs to build out an Ajax-
driven app. I''m noticing that occasionally there will be Ajax
Requests that will occasionally not complete. After some
investigation, I found that when I made a call to String#evalJSON, it
would throw a TypeError with the following message :
transport.responseText has no properties.

I am using the firebug plugin to debug my javascript code, and I get
the following message while debugging. Anyone familiar with this

See my code below:

Ajax.Updater -- Cancel DOM write?
Is it possible to cancel the DOM write to the element passed to
Ajax.Updater? I didn''t see anything in the documentation, and I''d like
to use this instead of Ajax.Request. There are situations where the
results that are returned will not be what is expected, and I have no
control over this. For this reason, I''d like to be able to cancel
writing to the DOM.
Thanks in

PeriodicalUpdater onComplete broken?
Using the PeriodicalUpdater, I''m finding the onComplete is not firing.
I thought I''d get some feedback here before filing a bug report.

The above are examples of this for prototype 1.6.0 & 1.6.0.1.

getElementsByClassName
I know this is deprecated in 1.6, but my question is how do I properly
use the native browser implementation? Do I need to change my code?
I''m having a difficult time finding examples on this. Why is this
deprecated instead of incorporated into prototype? Or did I answer my
own question...
Also, I want to utilize the new document.querySelector. Has some one
implemented this inside

comparing ajax.updater div in js
This is really bugging me no matter what I''m trying.
In javascript, I''m using the ajax.updater, and it (obviously) writes
back out to a div. I want to then compare what was echoed out into
this div (which came from the php file I listed in ajax.updater) with
a string.
test should equal "SomeString" because that is what is being echoed

Ajax.Request evalJSON document.write hangs
I''m not the best when it comes to javascript so this is probably a
simple mistake. I''m using the following code to read an external json
file and print out its values. The problem is when I try to write the
value to the browser it causes the browser to load like it hasn''t
finished the javascript code. Its writing the value to the screen so I
think its hanging after that

Ruby On Rails Salary in the UK? how much?
Hi,
What do you think is a reasonable salary for a ROR programmer in
Manchester, UK?
If you''re working with ROR and in the UK i''d be interested in knowing
your salary :-)
Your opinions would be very valuable to me

Element.addMethods functions swallowing exceptions (IE6 + 7)
IE6 and IE7 are not correctly handling the ''throw'' command for
functions attached to Element via Element.addMethods. Firefox and
Safari are fine.
See the example below.
For IE6: functions called with no attributes (ie: funcName())
correctly handle thrown errors. Funcions called with attributes (ie:
funcName("foo")) will respond to the throw command and pass execution

1.6 cheatsheet
Hey has anyone seen a 1.6 cheatsheet around?
Johnathan Snook did a nice 1.5 one but I''ve been working with 1.6 for a
while and while I can use prototypejs.org, cheatsheets are handy for jogging
memories..
I checked his blog, nothing there for 1.6.
