TypeError : transport.responseText has no properties
Hello all,
I''m using prototype in conjunction with Extjs to build out an Ajax-
driven app. I''m noticing that occasionally there will be Ajax
Requests that will occasionally not complete. After some
investigation, I found that when I made a call to String#evalJSON, it
would throw a TypeError with the following message :
transport.responseText has no properties.

Having trouble using data returned by Ajax.request
Hello everyone, I''m new here.
I''ve been working with prototype and plotr for about a month now, off
and on, and I have pretty much hit the wall on using the data returned
by Ajax.Request.
I''m using some php code to return a string:
{''foo'': [[0,0.0865334429075127], [1,0.0828179861705063],
[2,0.0828173042602942], [3,0.0841707718624196]]}

Ajax.Request -post
Hello SpinDoctors,
I am fairly new to prototype js framework. I love it.
Have various Ajax -get calls... which work wonderful...
Suddenly, realised that in one case I have to use ''post'' to overcome
the limitation on URL length...
Have changed the parameters to suit to ''post'' request, but nothing
happens... need your help...

Weird data from evalJSON
I am trying to have prototype perform a request and return to me a
javascript object representing the json string returned by the
request. I want to iterate over the contents to print each object in
the json string. The value of transport.reponseText in onSuccess is
what I would expect. But once I try to perform evalJSON() on this
text it gives me a bunch of extra function()s when i try to

Where to report typos/bugs in the Prototype API online docs?
I was wondering where to report typos/bugs for the Prototype online
API docs (http://prototypejs.org/api)? Seems a bit overkill to submit
typos to the Rail Trac - but perhaps that''s the correct place?
Additionally, the website indicates that this documentation is written
in Markdown. Is the documentation from which the online API is
generated in SVN? I saw a documentation branch

getElementsByClassName
I know this is deprecated in 1.6, but my question is how do I properly
use the native browser implementation? Do I need to change my code?
I''m having a difficult time finding examples on this. Why is this
deprecated instead of incorporated into prototype? Or did I answer my
own question...
Also, I want to utilize the new document.querySelector. Has some one

string.prototype.isNumeric
Hey all,
Just had a need for this, wondering if it is a candidate for inclusion as it
is only a single line and I can''t seem to spot any other way of acheiving
the same functionality in less code.
String.prototype.isNumeric = function() { return (this.match(/^\d+$/) !=
null); }
I used it in the context of:
Event.observe(el,''keypress'',function (e) { if

output link_remote_to in helper
Hi all,
I have a complex link_remote_to link I need to generate often. I want
to DRY up my view and create a helper that generates this
link_remote_to for me.
Is there a way my helper can output the link_remote_to javascript?
Thanks
STijn

Suggestion: use `select` values if `pluck` called with no args
I suggest that if you don''t pass any args to ActiveRecord#pluck, it would
use the select values. This follows along well with the way other
AR::Calculations work. As an extra benefit we would be able to pluck
virtual columns.

getDimensions() fails for elements with ancestors with display: none
Prototype v1.6.0.2
If any of an element''s ancestors are hidden, Element.getDimensions()
returns misleading values. In order to address this in my own project,
I made the following modification:
getDimensions: function(element) {
element = $(element);
var display = element.getStyle(''display'');
+ var hiddenAncestor = element.ancestors().any(function(e)

routing
Hi all,
My site uses subdomains to define an item. Eg http://itemname.mysite.com
I fetch the itemname and render the appropriate site from that
itemname. The subdomain is used everywhere (eg http://itemname.mysite.com/events,
http://itemname.mysite.com/products/show/11, ...)
I now want to give the user the possibilty to use a ''real'' domain like
www.itemname.com that should

Styling an Anchor Tag With Prototype

anchor tag? I am doing it this way:

link.setStyle({ color: ''#''+$F(''cp4_Hex'') });
});

inheriting static/class methods with new prototype.js class creation
Hey all.
I want something like this to work:
var Foo = Class.create();
Foo.myStaticMethod = function(){alert("I''m a static method!")};
Foo.myStaticMethod(); // works
var f = new Foo();
f.myStaticMethod(); // doesn''t work, but that''s good--I don''t want it
to
var Bar = Class.create(Foo);
Bar.myStaticMethod(); // doesn''t work, undefined :(
