prototype/script.aculo.us ecosystem
Recently errtheblog (http://errtheblog.com/) put up a nice post about
jQuery. Putting aside all the assertions about cleaner code and fewer
lines of code than with Prototype, the one thing that struck me from
his (and others'') writing and from direct inspection is this: jQuery
seems to have a more of an ecosystem surrounding it. That is, more
plugins, widgets, locked-and-loaded

iGoogle-style Widgets with Script.aculo.us?
I''d like to create an iGoogle-style page with a library of draggable
layout widgets. Is such a thing using script.aculo.us already
available? (Would hate to re-invent it.) Also, has anyone had success
with nested draggables? For example, rearranging <div>s within an
already draggable <div>?

Popup/Tooltip Dialog windows using AJAX?
Hello,
Can anybody point me to a sample of popup/tooltip using Prototype?
I saw examples for windows and also for tool tip but what I want is a little bit different.
I want the same fuctionality which exists at yahoo mail login.
https://login.yahoo.com/ -> on the right corner you have a Prevent Password Theft image. On mouse over you see a tooltip.
Now the good think in this solution is that

Google/Netflix Like Tooltips
I need to have a toolip-like object which has dynamic content in it. I
plan on using scriptaculous with an ajax call to retrieve the content,
but I would like to make the popup/tooltip/balloon text look as nice as
possible. Does anyone have any examples or anything useful to create a
popup like the ones that Google and Netflix have? I''d like to have one

Tooltips.js
Hi,
there already had been a Tooltips implementation [1] but i wasn''t to
happy with that one, not only because they didn''t support simple
mouse-hover tooltips (just as they appear when you are using title
attributes)
But writting this lib was also a good way to get into script.aculo.us
and prototype.js. (and i can''t say how impressed i am)
So here it is:

Custom tooltip component?
I am looking to develop a custom tool tip component for a list of links.
...Which is kind of not that big a deal.
But, and this seems to be the tricky part, I also want to be able to
set/specify the interval threshold after which to display the tool tip. (and
by nature of "tool tip", don''t display if the mouse moves out during that
interval. etc)
Any suggestions?

Tooltips
Anyone know of a tooltip extension which uses script.aculo or prototype?
e.g., hover a mouse on an object and pop-up a "help" dialogue?
Sam

My Tooltips contribution
All --
I've been working on a simple tooltip widget and thought I'd release
it into the wild. It builds on the features found in Prototype 1.5.0
RC0 and Scriptaculous 1.6.1.
Very basically, it walks down a list of links and if they have id,
href and title attributes, displays a tooltip on mouseover. Styled
with a few lines of CSS and background images.
You can demo it here:

Tooltip.js problems
I''m starting to play with the tooltip.js library from
http://tooltip.crtx.org/index.php?page=HomePage. The libarary seems to
work pretty well except that when I use a tooltip on a web page that has a
form and submit buttons, the submit buttons stop functioning and won''t
respond to click events anylonger. So far I''ve only been able to
reproduce this under Safari.

About prototype.js and xml dom
Hello,
I''m looking for a cross-browsers library based on prototype.js that
wraps XML dom.
I tried to extend XML dom elements by using Object.extend and
Element.extend without success.
It works fine with firefox (Object.extend) but don''t work with IE
(msxml).
I suppose that IE objects are not ''prototype based'' objects.
Is there a way to go around this issue like

Height problem after interrupting SlideDown/SlideUp effects
Hi,
i have a problem with the the SlideDown and SlideUp effects. Since a similiar
problem is also visible on the script.aculo.us homepage, i''m going to explain
it this way.
- Go to http://script.aculo.us/
- On the main site below "visual effects", click "Advanced options", the sub
panel will scroll down.
- Hit the close button, and while the panel is still

jRails plugin: jQuery on Rails
Hey All,
I just built a new plugin that replaces most of the default
functionality for Prototype/scriptaculous with jQuery. I still have
some work to do completing the rest of the visual effects and writing
some plugins for autocomplete and in-place editing but this release is
pretty solid.
It includes support for basic AJAX calls (form_to_remote,
link_to_remote), RJS, observers (observe_form,

Inplaceeditor and a tooltip on mouserollover?
on mouseover when using inplaceeditor it highlights in yellow. Great.
However, I want to also show a tooltip inside this div on mouseover.
Specifically, when a user is over editable text, besides the yellow
background, I want to display next to it a "delete" link. One of the things
I''ve tried is this:

ajax toolip (context help)
Does anybody have a solution for creating ajax (and local) tooltips using
scriptaculous? I have a solution that uses another script library as well
but would like to keep the footprint of the web pages down. Any advice
would be greatly appreciated.

how di i stop a running effect?
Hi,
i need some help with Effect.Appear/Effect.Fade
i would like fade in and out an element on hovering an element(->
tooltip behavior), but when i''m using Effect.Appear/Effect.Fade both
effects will continue to play and overlap each other, resulting in
unpredictable behavior.

Ortho - a library for JavaScript Graphics and Text
I''ve written a JavaScript library called Ortho (http://www.craic.com/
ortho) on top of Prototype for creating ''diagram-style'' graphics in
JavaScript. You can create histograms, graphs, timeline plots, ''maps''
of genomic data, annotated images, tree diagrams, etc.
Unlike Canvas, it seamlessly integrates text with graphics and the
output looks the same
