Bug? IE, getElementsByClassName and "length"
So, I have this form/datagrid thing. I want to have a button that clears the fields (not a reset, which would set them to the default state, I want them blank.) For various reasons, getByClassName seemed the best way to deal with this. Everything was fine on Moz/Firefox. Safari seems fine. But IE... Some detective work later, it seems that the problem is caused by *another* field on the page.

Serializing non-ascii characters
Hello, I''m new to the Prototype Framework. I''m trying to serialize a simple form with a few checkboxes. It seems like non-ascii characters, like Ö, are not encoded properly in some cases. Please take a look: http://troxy.net/serialize.htm Checking both boxes gives the following string: namn=%25C3%25B6rjan&namn=adam ..while it should look like this:

inheriting static/class methods with new prototype.js class creation
Hey all. I want something like this to work: var Foo = Class.create(); Foo.myStaticMethod = function(){alert("I''m a static method!")}; Foo.myStaticMethod(); // works var f = new Foo(); f.myStaticMethod(); // doesn''t work, but that''s good--I don''t want it to var Bar = Class.create(Foo); Bar.myStaticMethod(); // doesn''t work, undefined :(

If form changed ask if you really want to exit page...
First things first: Hi all! I''ve been sucked into prototype and script.aculo.us develpment thanks (because of?) the Symfony PHP framework... I''d like to implement a feature on some admin pages, but I can''t seem to find the right search term to google it; I want to ask the user to confirm exit of a page, if she has changed anything on the forms displayed on it. I have

non-bubbling mouseover/mouseout
First, I have only played with Prototype for about a month, so I don''t know it well. Second, I am more of a server-side programmer than a client-side programmer. In my page, I have a div that appears as a result of a link mouseover event. This div is nested within another div that houses everything (id = ''menuContainer''). I want the resulting div (which is a submenu)

obtaining table cell text data
I''m writing some code to subset a table based on the contents of particular columns. My event handler starts off like this: subsetChange: function(e) { var subset = $F(''subsetSelector''); var rows = $$(''.content-row''); rows.each(function(row) { var value = row.down(''.Platform_Category'').childNodes[0].data;

Prototype Safari onSubmit Issues
Hi folks. Another Prototype question. I have a simple ajax form which I want to return results on an onChange. Works in IE6 (Win) and FF, but Safari doesn''t seem to take the onChange too well. Upon the return key, it blanks out the form. Upon tabbing to the next field (actually the next form), I get the results. <form name="form1" id="form1"

Object Property Sorting - Hash?
I''m trying to sort an object by its property names. As I understand it, iterating over an object using for...in or using Hash.each() (or Hash.sortBy()) does not guarantee the order of the properties. Is there an easy and low-overhead way to guarantee order? Or would I need to have some type of collection object that uses arrays instead of the property-value configuration that Hash

How to avoid switching on input type?
Hi, I need some help improving this ugly code I wrote. I would like to shift forward a zoo object, matrix, ts, or list by "shift" items (default 1) and fill the holes with 0's. The code below works, but it looks ugly. I could write a function lag.zerofill() which calls the two functions below depending on the class() of the item passed in, but that feels very unlike R.
