Resizing est4 filesystem while mounted
Greetings -
I had a logical volume that was running out of space on a virtual machine.
I successfully expanded the LV using lvextend, and lvdisplay shows that it
has been expanded. Then I went to expand the filesystem to fill the new
space (# resize2fs -p /dev/vde1) and I get the results that the filesystem
is already xx blocks long, nothing to do. If I do a # df -h, I can see that

iproute2 custom tables and rules the CentOS way...
Hi all;
I have a custom iproute2 table and a few rules to go along with it
(CentOS 5) -- I have added the table to /etc/iproute2/rt_tables.
if-up and friends doesn't seem to handle this real gracefully. How are
those of you out there doing something similar managing this
customization?
I don't really want to muck with /etc/init.d/network or the if-up
scripts to avoid breaking upgrades.

ext3 filesystems larger than 8TB
Greetings.
I am trying to create a 10TB (approx) ext3 filesystem. I am able to
successfully create the partition using parted, but when I try to use
mkfs.ext3, I get an error stating there is an 8TB limit for ext3
filesystems.
I looked at the specs for 5 on the "upstream" vendor's website, and they
indicate that there is a 16TB limit on ext3.
Has anyone been able to create

Native ZFS on Linux
I have a question that has been puzzling me for some time ... what is
the reason RedHat chose to go with btrfs rather than working with the
ZFS-on-Linux folks (now OpenZFS)? Is it a licensing issue, political, etc?
Although btrfs is making progress, ZFS is far more mature, has a few
more stable features (especially Raid-z3) and has worked flawlessly for
me on CentOS-6 and Scientific Linux-6.

Wiki EditGroup request.
Hi all, I'd like to get added to the EditGroup for wiki.centos.org and
perhaps projects.centos.org.
I'm interested in adding content periodically throughout wiki.centos;
most likely in the HOWTO areas, but am happy to do reorganization and
cleanup as-needed.
On the projects side I'd like to create a project for the i586 on
CentOS 5 section.
Thanks,
Ray

[RFC] LLVM Coroutines
Hi Sanjoy:

Quick answer: folding %val to 10 is OK, but, I would prefer it to be 'undef'
or even catch it in the verifier as it is a programmer/frontend error.
Details are in the second half of my reply. I would like to start
with the thought experiment you suggested, as it might

Yes, user-mode stack switching API are somewhat similar to setjmp. Here are
links to a doc page and implementation, just in case you are curious:

pbx -> fiber -> network media converter -> wifi -> network media converter -> fiber -> pbx ???
Please forgive the (almost?) OT post. (and the fact that I need a clue-bat)
We've got a situation at one of our sites where a construction crew is
likely to dig up our conduit which houses some data fiber and one pair
of fiber used to tie a Definity 3gsi at a small office building to the
rest of the phone system (school district). We're using a pair of

xServes are dead ;-( / SAN Question
Hi !
As some of you might know, Apple has discontinued it's xServes server as of
january 31st 2011.
We have a server rack with 12 xserves ranging from dual G5's to dual
quand-core xeon lastest generation, 3 xserve-raid and one activeraid 16 TB
disk enclosure. We also use xSan to access a shared file system among the
servers. Services are run from this shared filesystem, spreaded

Possibility for networkless installation (for long distance shared storage)
As we have fiber channel, and we have fiber connections, sometimes direct
p-to-p, where we could run it into our fiber channel switch, and share a
disk array over hundreds of feet, to hundreds of miles, but where servers
wouldn't be able to talk via fast enough network connection, does (or will)
ocfs2 support a mode where there is no network connection needed, and all

Broadcom NetXtreme bcm5720 in the 9.1 beta
Team
I have a Dell PowerEdge R720xd, with the Broadcom NetXtreme bcm5720. I
found the following thread:
http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=31769
I find I am unable to use the NIC's (there are 4 on the server). When we
put a cable into it we get a "watchdog timeout -- resetting" error, and
the machine will pause for 5 or so seconds. IP may or may not come up
randomly.

Syslinux Digest, Vol 116, Issue 20
Hi!
We use Windows tftp-servers (so I dont think switching now would be an alternative). But I can try to suggest it.
More specific, vendor id of the mac address, is what I want to be able to "choose" (if match) which bootmenu to display.
Like all broadcom NICs we have would boot the undionly.kpxe "menu!! (I am having some trouble with broadcom (PCI fiber) and iPXE :)

Quantile regression questions
I am relatively new to R, but am intrigued by its flexibility. I am interested in quantile regression and quantile estimation as regards to cotton fiber length distributions. The length distribution affects spinning and weaving properties, so it is desirable to select for certain distribution types. The AFIS fiber testing machinery outputs a vector for each sample of type c(12, 235, 355, . . .

ocfs performance
Hi,
I'm new to the list, so forgive me if I'm asking several naive questions
that have been answered a dozen times before.
I have RHAS with kernel version 2.4.9-e.10smp, running
ocfs-support-1.0-2, ocfs-tools-1.0-2, ocfs-2.4.9-e.10-smp-1.0-2. I have
Oracle 9iR2 RAC up and running on an IBM fiber channel architecture. I
find it to be extremely slow compared to other stand alone

bge drivers does not work for 3COM 3C996-SX / 3C996B-T
I'm experiencing similar problems with a 3C996-T under 4.8-REL.
In particular, connecting a 4.8-REL machine to a 5.1-REL machine leads
to some interesting situations: I can do simple pings across the link,
but ssh fails, and heavy pings crash the 4.8 machine. Similarly
changing the interface configuration with ifconfig tends to crash the
4.8 machine (mtu, link0, up/down, etc). The

D-Link DGE-550SX support
I found some ancillary information that seems to indicate that there is a
driver that will allow a D-Link DGE-550SX Gigabit fiber NIC to work under
FreeBSD 4.x. Can anyone confirm or refute this, or provide additional
information? If the NIC is not supported, is there a recommendation for a
gigabit fiber NIC that works well under 4.8?
Thanks,

Re: Oracle RAC in libvirt+KVM environment
Hi all,
I found a article about Hyper-V virtual Fiber Channel, I think this
will make Failover Cluster work if KVM has the same feature.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831413.aspx
Hyper-V uses NPIV for virtual Fiber Channel, I have read some article
about KVM NPIV, but how can I config it with libvirt? Any body can
show me some example?

How to make a network interface come up automatically on link up?
I have a recently installed Mellanox VPI interface in my server. This is
an InfiniBand interface, which, through the use of adapters, can also do
10GbE over fiber. I have one of the adapter's two ports configured for
10GbE in this way, with a point to point link to a Mac workstation with
a Myricom 10GbE card.
I've configured this interface on the Linux box (eth2) using
