New Stack
Hi Experts, I am newbie in R. Could you please share your idea to create a stack with no value or zero value? Nrow=1,Ncol=1, Ncell=1, I aim to work with looping, I want to make a first layer with zero values to add other layers further. Thanks. Advice on long for loop
I'd appreciate advice on the following: I've written an R function that uses 3 vectors (temperature, precipitation and potential evapotranspiration) for a given site, calculates a water budget (which implies few (<4) iterations), and, from thresults of this water budget, calculates a number of bioclimatic indices. Now I want to calculate these indices for a large number of sites

new version of package water: Actual Evapotranspiration with Energy Balance Models
Dear R users, I'm glad to announce the new version of water package (0.5). As this is my first message to the list, I want to add that this package provides tools to estimate actual evapotranspiration from surface energy balance models. Right now you can run the well-know METRIC model using it. This model allows to estimate the energy balance using landsat (7 or 5) images and a weather

increase a value by each group?
Hi everybody. I'm looking for the way to increase the depth value in 0.01 for each index group. Blocking and Nested ANOVA Design. Am I using the aov() function correctly?
Dear list members, I am new member and fairly new into R world! I hope what I have is not beyond the purpose of this list. I did first search for similar experimental designs without success. I want to perform an ANOVA analysis using the aov() function. I am not 100% sure that I have it right. If anyone can help me, that will be greatly appreciated. My design is not balanced for any of the

poly.transform in R
Dear all, I am trying to transform polynomial coefficients from orthogonal form to the standard power basis. There's poly.transform in S-plus. Does anybody know how to do that in R ? I've found question about that in the archives of R-help but no real answer. Example : I'm doing polynomial regression of percentage of one insect in a community on altitude, precipitations,

slow computation of functions over large datasets
Hello there, I’m computing the total value of an order from the price of the order items using a “for” loop and the “ifelse” function. I do this on a large dataframe (close to 1m lines). The computation of this function is painfully slow: in 1min only about 90 rows are calculated. The computation time taken for a given number of rows increases with the size of the dataset, see the example with

PROC MIXED RANDOM equivalence in R nlme
Dear Dennis, Your question assumes that people know both SAS PROC MIXED and R nlme. Only a limited number of people do. Add the mathematical formulation of the model. That will increase the number of people that can help you. Adding the number of levels in each categorical variable and the number of observation per group is useful too. Best regards, ir. PROC MIXED RANDOM equivalence in R nlme
I am trying to reproduce some old SAS PROC MIXED code using R and nlme. The data consists of emission readings from vehicles and fuel properties. All variables are real numbers except "study" and "vehicle", which are character. Unfortunately, since the data are confidential, I'm unable to provide an example. The original SAS v6.12 code is provided below:
