[PATCH] xen/pvhvm: If xen_platform_pci=0 is set don''t blow up.
The user has the option of disabling the platform driver:
00:02.0 Unassigned class [ff80]: XenSource, Inc. Xen Platform Device (rev 01)
which is used to unplug the emulated drivers (IDE, Realtek 8169, etc)
and allow the PV drivers to take over. If the user wishes
to disable that they can set:
xen_platform_pci=0
(in the guest config file)
or
xen_emul_unplug=never
(on the Linux command

LSI SAS2008 Option Rom Failure
Hi-
I am trying to pass an LSI SAS2008-based HBA (IBM M1015) through to an
HVM Solaris VM, using Xen 4.2 unstable and the qemu-traditional device
model. On boot I see the following error:
MPT BIOS Fault 09h encountered at adapter PCI(00h,05h,00h)
A list search yielded
(http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.xen.devel/128172),
however there was no solution for an HVM VM. I''ve

Xen 4.1.2 PVHVM guest with Linux 3.1.0 network problem, empty MAC address (all zeroes)
Hello,
While testing Fedora 16 Xen PVHVM guests I noticed the following problem:
When starting F16 PVHVM guest I can see the vifX.0 and tapX.0 interfaces appear on dom0,
but after the guest kernel (Linux 3.1.0) starts and loads PVHVM drivers the
vif/tap interfaces disappear from dom0..
so the bridge in dom0 doesn''t have any vifs/taps connected to it anymore.
Has anyone seen that

pvhvm on debian
hello,
I know this not quite a xen problem but im sure a fair number of people are
using debian for their dom0 and maybe have some insight into this.
I have a large number of dom0''s running squeeze and for a long time i was
hoping for pvhvm to make into the official debian xen packages and recently
during some periodic updates I noticed pvhvm working after a kernel package
update.

[PATCH v2] Handle xen_platform_pci=0 case
Hi,
Here is a little patch that attempt to fix the issue regarding
xen_platform_pci=0 not been handled.
There is one patch left from the previous version. The patch that was adding
qemu_machine_override have been removed as it is unnecessary. If someone wants
to change the -machine, it can always add it to device_model_args_hvm, as QEMU
appear to use the last one.

Perhaps in general looking at the libxl and xend .. and .. qemu-xen and qemu-xen-traditonal compatibility shoud be added too.
Perhaps i''m a bit blunt ..

[PATCH] remove the xen dracut module
The Xen module is unnecessary and it has been for a while.
Most Xen systems will not be using the module, even now, because
xen-detect is not installed by default on most Xen systems, and
dracut uses xen-detect to decide whether to include the module.
It also has some problems:
1) it does not try loading xen_platform_pci;
2) it loads modules unnecessarily; modules.alias is where all Xen

booting from HVM (?pv?)
Hi,
I''m the Mageia XEN packager and during QA, we stumbled into a problem.
in fact, we wanted to test Mageia 3 installation on a HVM.
so, we had a sparse image and a iso file:
[ ''file:/opt/testhvm.img,sda,w'', ''file:/opt/mageialive.iso,hdb:cdrom,r'' ]
the live booted, and was able to install to disk, but it never seemed to boot

ubuntu13.04 host and ubuntu13.04 guest how to config the pvscsi
Hi, everyone!
We google a lot, but can''t find how to config the pvscsi on our ubuntu13.04 PV on HVM.There are some links
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Paravirtualized_SCSI
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_Configuration_File_Options
And we use the config option above
Configure PVSCSI devices
vscsi = [ ''/dev/sdc, 0:0:0:0'' ]
I pass sdc to the hvm, but in our pvhvm (ubuntu13.04)

Xen 4.x / Linux 3.x (dom0 and HVM domU) and NIC handling
Moving to public discussion...
This was found with Xen hypervisor version supporting device unplugging and the
domU kernel having net-/blkfront and pci platform built-in (or as module).
The block device is defined as hda and the NIC type=ioemu (so theoretically
guests without pv support would work, too).
Since both drivers are present, the kernel tries to unplug the emulated devices

(updated) test report for xen-unstable tree with upstream QEMU
Hi All,
We did some testing for Xen-unstable tree with upstream QEMU.
We covered basic guest booting up, power management, VT-d, SR-IOV features.
We found 4 new bugs which only exist in upstream QEMU not in qemu-xen.
We followed the below wiki page to use upstream QEMU.

Phoronix Xen vs KVM vs Virtualbox benchmark with Ubuntu 11.10
Hello,
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=ubuntu_1110_xenkvm&num=1
Ubuntu 11.10 with Xen 4.1.1 and Linux 3.0.
Xen seems to be doing very poorly on that benchmark.
If someone has time to repeat that benchmark it would be good..
Comparing the results to those from Stefano from XenSummit 2011 NA there has be something wrong..
the results at XenSummit were pretty much the

I have a problem with PVHVM guests when save/restore
Hello users,
I have a problem when I save/restore a PVHVM guest.
I installed xen-4.1.2 on my server. And I run a PVHVM guest on LVM.
And my PVHVM guest is ubuntu-12.04.2-desktop.
Actually when I save a machine, it acts fine.
(Of course, when I saved it, There were some processes like movie player)
But, When I restore it, It seems more slow.
Additionally, machine finally die after a while.

Primary VGA Passthrough Status
Hi All-
Is it possible yet to pass through a ATI or Nvidia GPU as the primary VGA
card to a Win 7/8 VM, and have it fully functional there (DXVA etc),
without crashing the guest or the host during operation or when resetting
the guest?
For hardware I have an E3 v2 Xeon, Tyan S5512 board, and an ATI 7750.
Thanks!
David

LVM Checksum error when using persistent grants (#linux-next + stable/for-jens-3.8)
Hey Roger,
I am seeing this weird behavior when using #linux-next + stable/for-jens-3.8 tree.
Basically I can do ''pvscan'' on xvd* disk and quite often I get checksum errors:
# pvscan /dev/xvdf
