[PATCH] x86/vtsc: update vcpu_time after hvm_set_guest_time
When using a vtsc, hvm_set_guest_time changes hvm_vcpu.stime_offset, which is used in the vcpu time structure to calculate the tsc_timestamp, so after updating stime_offset we need to propagate the change to vcpu_time in order for the guest to get the right time if using the PV clock. This was not done correctly, since in context_switch update_vcpu_system_time was called before vmx_do_resume,

[PATCH] x86/hvm: fix corrupt ACPI PM-Timer during live migration
The value of ACPI PM-Timer may be broken on save unless the timer mode is delay_for_missed_ticks. With other timer modes, vcpu->arch.hvm_vcpu.guest_time is always zero and the adjustment from its value is wrong. This patch fixes the saved value of ACPI PM-Timer: - don''t adjust the PM-Timer if vcpu->arch.hvm_vcpu.guest_time is zero. - consolidate calculations of PM-Timer to one

[PATCH 2/3] Implement tsc adjust feature
Implement tsc adjust feature IA32_TSC_ADJUST MSR is maintained separately for each logical processor. A logical processor maintains and uses the IA32_TSC_ADJUST MSR as follows: 1). On RESET, the value of the IA32_TSC_ADJUST MSR is 0; 2). If an execution of WRMSR to the IA32_TIME_STAMP_COUNTER MSR adds (or subtracts) value X from the TSC, the logical processor also adds (or subtracts) value X

[PATCH][Retry 1] 1/4: cpufreq/PowerNow! in Xen: Xen timer changes
Enable cpufreq support in Xen for AMD Operton processors by: 1) Allowing the PowerNow! driver in dom0 to write to the PowerNow! MSRs. 2) Adding the cpufreq notifier chain to time-xen.c in dom0. On a frequency change, a platform hypercall is performed to scale the frequency multiplier in the hypervisor. 3) Adding a platform hypercall to the hypervisor the scale the frequency multiplier and reset

Guest time and TSCs since changeset 17716
Changeset 17716 provides monotonically increasing guest time for HVM domains, by using the per-domain pl_time structure. hvm_get_guest_time and hvm_set_guest_time were changed to use this. Previously, the guest time was stored directly in the TSC offset fields of the vmx/smv control structures. Since pt_freeze_time and pt_thaw_time use hvm_get/set_guest_time, they now no longer freeze TSC

[RFC][PATCH 3/3] timekeeping: Fix potential lost pv notification of time change
In 780427f0e11 (Indicate that clock was set in the pvclock gtod notifier), logic was added to pass a CLOCK_WAS_SET notification to the pvclock notifier chain. While that patch added a action flag returned from accumulate_nsecs_to_secs(), it only uses the returned value in one location, and not in the logarithmic accumulation. This means if a leap second triggered during the logarithmic

xen-4.1: PV domain hanging at startup, jiffies stopped
Hey, I''m experiencing strange problem: non-deterministic PV domain hang, only on some machines (with fast SSD drive). I''ve tried xen-4.1.0 and xen-4.1.1 with many kernels different kernels: VM: - 2.6.38.3 xenlinux based on SUSE package - vanilla 3.0.3 - vanilla 3.1 rc2 dom0: - 2.6.38.3 xenlinux based on SUSE package - vanilla 3.1 rc2 Result always the same: sometimes VM

[PATCH v3 0/4] nested vmx: enable VMCS shadowing feature
Changes from v2 to v3: - Use pfn_to_paddr() to get the address from frame number instead of doing shift directly. - Remove some unnecessary initialization code and add "static" to vmentry_fields and gpdptr_fields. - Enable the VMREAD/VMWRITE bitmap only if nested hvm is enabled. - Use clear_page() to set all 0 to the page instead of memset(). - Use domheap to allocate the

when timer go back in dom0 save and restore or migrate, PV domain hung
Hi, I find PV domin hung, When we take those steps 1, save PV domain 2, change system time of PV domain back 3, restore a PV domain or 1, migrate a PV domain from Machine A to Machine B 2, the system time of Machine B is slower than Machine A. the problem is wc_sec will be change when system-time chanaged in dom0 or restore in a

Crash with Samba 2.0.6
Hi! Short time ago our Samba-Server crashed during normal use with low load. (Ping was working, but no login was possible (didn't ask for password on the terminal)). Perhaps it is a bug, or perhaps it is a problem with my machine and you can help me. I am running: SuSE Linux 6.4 Samba Version 2.0.6 (smbd) Kernel: 2.2.14 (original SuSE-Kernel) Some Logfiles: /var/log/warn ... Aug 16

[PATCH 0 of 9] (v2) arm: SMP boot
This patch series implements SMP boot for arch/arm, as far as getting all CPUs up and running the idle loop. Changes from v1: - moved barriers out of loop in udelay() - dropped broken GIC change in favour of explanatory comment - made the increment of ready_cpus atomic (I couldn''t move the increment to before signalling the next CPU because the PT switch has to happen between

[PATCH V2] mem_event: Add support for MEM_EVENT_REASON_MSR
Add the new MEM_EVENT_REASON_MSR event type. Works similarly to the other register events, except event.gla always contains the MSR type (in addition to event.gfn, which holds the value). [PATCH] hvm: reset TSC to 0 after domain resume from S3
Host S3 implicitly resets the host TSC to 0, but the tsc offset for hvm domains is not recalculated when they resume, causing it to go into negative values. In Linux guest using tsc clocksource, this results in a hang after wrap back to positive values since the tsc clocksource implementation expects it reset. [PATCH 2/4] time: add a notifier chain for when the system time is stepped
From: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@citrix.com> The high resolution timer code gets notified of step changes to the system time with clock_was_set() or clock_was_set_delayed() calls. If other parts of the kernel require similar notification there is no clear place to hook into. Add a clock_was_set atomic notifier chain (clock_was_set_notifier_list) and call this in place of clock_was_set().
