the principle of the vm snapshot based on qemu-dm
Hi everyone,
I'm not clear about the principle of the vm snapshot based on qemu-dm, so the following below maybe a joke. Sorry for that...
register_savevm() included in ioemu-qemu-xen/hw/*.c covers various kinds of hardware in order to save the state of current running vm. In this way, the file saved by the cmd of 'xm save domain snapshot.save' is of large size and the

回复: [help] Who's the author of libxc? I don't know howto start with it
Thanks.
I have already previewed the xenctrl.h.
The following is what I understand: libxc is compiled to a file name after 'xc**' endding with '.so', xend communicates with domain0 through xc and domain0 communicates with hypervisor through privcmd.
What's the privcmd?

XE VM install
Hi -
I''m trying to use the instructions here http://xen.pablolibo.com/doku.php to create a new VM but it''s not clear where the .cfg file should go and what to do next. I was thinking xe needs to install the vm from the /mnt/so_xen mount but i''m not sure. Are the steps on the site reasonable? Is there a way to install a vm from USB instead?
I don''t have an

Virsh Failing to Snapshot VMWare VM with Multiple Disks
I am trying to use virsh's snapshot-create command on a VMWare vm that has multiple disks in its device list, but the command is failing with the error:
"Could not create snapshot: FileNotFound - file [pool] filename.vmx".
However, this command works if my vm only has one disk in its device list.
I am using libvirt 0.9.10, and the storage pool is nfs mounted between the machine that

[PATCH] Fix qemu-dm segfault when multiple HVM domains ---Was: qemu-dm segfault with multiple HVM domains?
Hi, John
Can you try the attached patch ?
This issue can be reproduced on SMP platform, while the domain 0
is UP. The reason is, after finishing a dma request, the dma thread will
trigger the interrupt and then clear the call back function. When guest
get the interrupt , it will try to check the call back function, if it
is set, then it will trigger a dma request again. So if the checking for

ERROR: Toolstack not specifed and nothing detected, bailing out!
I have just installed Xen by following http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_Beginners_Guide
All in all pretty good, however it mentions using the xl toolset but when I first installed only the xm toolset would work. This was great for creating linux based domains but it gave me an error about hvm when I tried creating a Windows domain.
I then apt-get install xen-tools-common and edited /etc/default/xen

''qemu-dm'' process just died
One of my W2K3R2 domains just stopped working, and the ''qemu-dm'' process
is in the ''defunct'' state, which means it has seg faulted or
something...
Of course this happens after it has been running perfectly for a week
and we think all of these problems are behind us!
There wasn''t time to attach the debugger to the process unfortunately...

qemu-dm memory leak?
Hi,
Me and another sysadmin has independently been researching a problem where DomU randomly locks (Can’t reach it via xl console, no ping / SSH connection, shown as stuck in running-state in xentop) on two of our separate machines (installed completely independently):
Dom0:
Debian 7.0 with Xen version: 4.1.4 and xen-utils 4.1.4-3+deb7u1
Debian 7.1 with Xen version: 4.1
DomU:

I''m not sure what qemu-dm does or how to debug its high CPU usage.
Any one mind giving me a clue?

virtual bios in hvmloader and qemu-dm
Hi, when user create the virtual machine, then:
which code execute firstly, hvmloaer or qemu-dm?
And virtual bios code are both in hvmloader and qemu-dm, which bios will be
used to initialize the virutal device in qemu-dm? I think it must be one of
them.

how to compile qemu-dm with VNC support
Hi all,
thanks to Mats I managed to compile a custom
Linux kernel (2.6.16.29) and Xen 3.0.3.
I then did
"apt-get bcc" (to be able to build "hvmloader")
cd /usr/src/xen...src/tools/
make install
Then I could launch Windows XP but I wouldn''t
see the SDL window... because qemu-dm has a
compile time dependency on SDL devel.
"apt-get libsdl1.2-dev"

Bug report on xen-utils-4.1: qemu-dm crashes with exit status 1
Hi,

I can still install it in my VM and this page shows a xen-utils-4.1 in
sid: http://packages.debian.org/sid/xen-utils-4.1. I'm not sure what
you mean when you say it's not in unstable.
> Could you please explain why "exit 1" is a crash?
"exit 1" is obviously not a crash. However, qemu-dm
