XCP Debian 7 - Routed mode
Hi everyone,
I just got a brand new server by Hetzner.de. The thing is, when you
have additional IP, to use routed mode (precisely a subnet of IP,
story of exposed MAC in their data center etc.) Bridged mode is NOT
possible for getting connectivity in VM''s.
Traditionally, I''m more confident with "standard" Xen setup, so it''s
easy to switch from bridged to

How to manage one line in a file by puppet
Hi,
I want to write a puppet module for xen on Debian. This module will need
to manage one line in the file /etc/default/grub, namely the line
starting with "GRUB_CMDLINE_XEN=". Currently I want to leave the rest of
the file untouched.
Which would be the best way to do this?
I see two options:
a) Do some `sed` magic on the file in a `exec` call. Downside: puppet
won''t notice

Step 2.
Now things go smoothly until I get

Accessing individual partitions of a HVM guest
Hi,
I need to do some p2v migration of a very old SuSE server.
Unfortunately, the kernel of that machine doesn''t support running as xen
domU, so I need to put the machine into a HVM domU.
When I set up the domU with
disk = [''phy:/dev/vg_guest/worker1_disk,sda1,w'']
then the domU doesn''t boot because it says that no OS was found on the HDD.
Of course I

install other OS to unprivileged domain
Dear all,
I have set up one unprivileged Domain-1 with help of FedoraQuickStart and
some help from you.
Now I want to install some other OS to Domain-2.
How can I install a different OS (say Redhat 7.3) onto a unprivileged
domain?
Do I have to copy all files from an existed installation to an image file?
Thanks,
Koala

Debootstrapping a rootfs for Xen on FastModels A15
Hi,
I''ve tried several different approaches to debootstrap a working
rootfs for with a Cortex A15 model ( FastModels ) and Xen but still
face some issues.
Some information on my setup.
For a Dom0 kernel I''m using the latest version from
git://github.com/torvalds/linux.git, I attached my config as it might
be of some use for others. I''m using the latest Xen unstable

XCP: Custom templates
Hello,
Is it possible to create a custom template for XCP? Or edit an existing
one? I know that I could create a VM and then exported as a template,
but I would prefer to create a template like "Debian Lenny 5.0" that
install debian from the network but with 64bits instead of the 32bits
used by the template.

PV Lenny 32 bits into 64 bits dom0 - Grub / kernel problem
Hello,
I can''t solve my problem. I want a 32 bits Lenny domU into a 64 bits
Lenny dom0.
I plan to use pygrub for that (xen 3.2.1).
So, I tried to debootstrap a 32 bits domU into a 64 bits dom0.
debootstrap --arch=i386
--include=libc6-xen,firmware-bnx2,linux-image-2.6.26-1-xen-686,linux-modules-xen-686,linux-image-xen-686,grub

How to install an Ubuntu DomU on Ubuntu 10.04 Dom0
Hi,
I''m a newbie in VM/Xen. As a first step to do some study/experiment on VM, I
want to install Ubutnu (10.04) as DomU on top of Ubutu (10.04) Dom0.
I need some direction to stat with:
- how to install the DomU image
- how to configure the network address
I''d be greatly thankful to you for providing some useful link to this end.
Thank you in advance.

Is it possible to Xenify a stock Redhat/Fedora kernel.
I would have sworn that someone on the list had a way to Xenify a stock
RH kernel but I was not able to dig it up on the archives.
If this does not exist I am sure it would be a nice addition to Xen to
be able to patch and build some kernels that are compatable with some of
the popular distributions.
