E5606 with no HVM; Assertion 'i == 1' failed at p2m-ept.c:524
Hi Xen developers and enthousiasts,
Recently I have been having a lot of problems with HVM hosts on a dual
Xeon E5606 box. Problem is that HVM hosts don''t work on it at all and
crash the server.
Today I got the logging to work over an IPMI console so then I compiled
a fresh xen-unstable. Apart from the message I posted in the subject
the call trace reads as follows:

Sharing entropy across VMs
Short question: is it possible to share entropy across all VMs and how
can this be done?
I found http://vanheusden.com/entropybroker/ which seems to offer a way,
but I cannot get it to work, syslog tells me "stack smashing detected".
So if there are ways people are currently using I''d be interested to
hear them. Currently I find that even generating a gpg key on a PV VM

BSOD with GPLPV windows drivers
Hello.
I have encountered a problem with GPLPV drivers for windows.
It is similar (if not the same) as
http://old-list-archives.xen.org/archives/html/xen-users/2011-02/msg00709.html
Host is running 14 virtual machines with Windows XP. When I''m trying to
start 15-th windows VM it crashes with code 0x0000007b.
Booting to safe mode or with /nogplpv works ok.
15-th VM works fine if

Strange Problem with Windows GPLPV Drivers
I have a strange problem with these drivers.
I have a host that has 31 VM''s running on it, all windows. They are running
the same template, which has the latest GPLPV drivers installed. The problem
occurred today when I went to add the 32nd VM, again from the same template.
Now when the VM boots up I get a BSOD.
I tried a different template to confirm that it was not template

unistalling gplpv from win7x64 gives BSOD
I have installed the 210 gplpv (debug), when I try to update them with
current gplpv I get a BSOD even so when I try to uninstall them.
Now I have made a bootentry that specifies NOGPLPV, what gives me a
bootable system after such a crash, I found (uninstalling the leftover
driver packages after getting bsod during uninstall of the main package)
that uninstalling the net driver leads to bsod. Now

GPLPV xennet bsod when vcpu>15
Hello,
I installed the signed drivers from
http://wiki.univention.de/index.php?title=Installing-signed-GPLPV-drivers and
I ran into a BSOD on a Windows 2008 Server R2 Enterprise domU with a
large number of vcpu''s. The BSOD is related to xennet.sys.
After some trials I found that it runs fine up to 15 cores. From 16 or
more, the BSOD kicks in when booting the domU.

BSOD w/ gplpv drivers and Windows 2008 R2 64-bit
Hey,
I''ve been trying to get the gplpv drivers working with Windows 2008 R2
64-bit on both a stock CentOS 5.8 install and CentOS 5.8 w/ Xen 4.1.2
from the gitco repos.
I''m getting a BSOD shortly after boot up and it can be seen at
http://techmonkeys.org/xen/ -- along with the qemu log.
Has anyone had success with these drivers and Windows 2008 R2 64-bit? If
so, what am I

Windows GPLPV xenvbd.sys BSOD
Hi,
During the install of the univention.de-signed GPLPV drivers
(gplpv_Vista2008x64_signed_0.11.0.308.msi) on my Windows 7 guest, I get a BSOD
"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" in xenvbd.sys. Afterwards, Windows won''t start.
I''m now trying to do a System Restore. I will try not installing the VBD driver
afterwards and see if the others do work.

GPLPV BSOD following block-attach
James,
I''m writing with respect to an issue I''ve observed on a long-running,
stable VM with the GPL-PV drivers installed.
Running : 0.11 latest, x86 XP SP3
I used "xm block-attach" to add two disks and (without actually
configuring/accessing them) I had an automatic reboot due to windows
updates. At the same time as the block-attach the domU config was

Tickless dom0
Hello everyone,
I''ve always wondered - would dom0 be better off with a tickless kernel
or not? In other words, can someone explain which choice to make with
regards to CONFIG_NO_HZ?

Windows 2008 R2 64 bit BSoD
Hello.
I''m trying to get the lastest GPLPV binary (rev 238) working on an
Ubuntu Server host with Xen 4, but I''ve got some problems. The guest
is a 64 bit Windows 2008 R2.
After enabling test mode and rebooting, installing and rebooting again
(with /NOGPLPV) I can see all the Xen devices, but two (out of three)

anyone getting corruption under GPLPV after a bug check?
I''ve just committed a fix to hg that fixes a problem in the bug check
code, which mostly explains why crash dumps weren''t always being written
out, and I have a suspicion that without the fix there is a chance of
filesystem corruption when a crash dump occurs.
Can anyone using GPLPV comment on whether they might have seen this?
Basically, everything works fine under GPLPV (no

HVM bsod CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT on i7-3930K
Hello,
BSOD 0x00000101 CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT randomly appears on all HVM Windows
2008R2 (with signed GPLPV drivers) with vcpu''s>=2 after upgrading CPU to
hexacore i7-3930K. xen and qemu-dm logs have no suspicious entries after
bsod.
Before upgrade CPU was i7-2600 and all HVM''s works fine.
Such problem persist on all motherboards with i7-3930K,and disappear after

Xen 4.2.1. Intel Integrated VGA passthrough. BSOD in Windows guests.
Hello,
I configured xen with enabled passthrough primary VGA card (Intel Integrated
graphic controller HD 3000) and audio controller (Intel HD audio) to hvm
guest.
I also installed GPLPV drivers to improve performance.
And it works for Windows XP (x86) and Windows 7 (x86_64).
But I get a BSOD, when I try to load a disk or network subsystem or start
Windows 7 performance test.

trouble with xennet gplpv in win7x64 xen(xvm)3.4
I have some real problems with the xennet, when disable and try to
enable the nic I get a BSoD due to ndis.sys
Further more the system still fails to get an IP using dhcp.
The box is after a lot of cleanup, now on the 217 GPLPV.
I could provide additional details on demand next week.
(I''m unsure to get the machine earlier in my reach due to an on site
power outage)

Kernel crash with acpi_processor, cpu_idle and intel_idle =y
Hi everyone,
When I set CONFIG_ACPI_PROCESSOR, CONFIG_CPU_IDLE and CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE
to y then I cannot boot Xen; there is a crash. If I turn
CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE off then the boot goes well and, after dom0 has
booted, xenpm works and gives some sane output, see below. I have
tested this with kernels 3.2 to 3.4.6.
Is it impossible to use INTEL_IDLE with Xen? If this is a known issue
then maybe
