DomU clock out of sync
Hey all, I was watching some logs on a domU today and i suddenly noticed that the timestamps were off by something on the order of 47 seconds. I was surprised because *I don''t* run independent wall clocks. I checked some other domUs and the "drift" was also very close to that of the first domU. I also checked another dom0, Here the domUs were "only" out of sync by

Xen 4.0 - No console prompt after booting domU but functional SSH
Hello xen-users ! I am coming for help concerning the just released 4.0 version. Install has worked rather well on my Debian Lenny. I have just had a few bugs for which I have found the answer looking around on this list. I have created a Debian Lenny domU which boots up just fine. The only problem is that I am unable to get a console prompt when using "xm console nameofdomU". I do see

2.6.37 dom0 under Xen 4.1 clocksource not working
When booting 2.6.37 (from kernel.org) under Xen 4.1, there are apparently issues with timer interrupts being delivered to the dom0. Repeatedly causing an interrupt (for example, the ACPI power button) will allow the system to boot, as does adding "clocksource=jiffies" to the kernel command line. This is only present under Xen, not when booting the same kernel on real hardware. When boot

Resolve "Time went backwards" problem by using jiffies as clocksource
Hi All, I''m new to Xen and... Happy New Year! After restarting dom-0, my dom-u prints this in console once every second, [55082.616234] __ratelimit: 1503 messages suppressed [55082.616234] clocksource/0: Time went backwards: ret=380ab26c53a I resolved this by following the instructions in "http://wiki.debian.org/Xen", which is basically changing clocksource to

with heavy VM IO, clocksource causes random dom0 reboots
On Debian Squeeze (2.6.32-5) running Xen 4.0, I have created 2 Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (Ubuntu 10.04) vms. The vms, in a stress test, pass a large file between them via nfs file sharing. A previous entry in this forum helped to establish that some ethernet cards improve VM IO performance. However, our box installed with better intel nics is still rebooting under heavy VM IO loads. The kernel call

clocksource? jiffies?
Hi there, I''m trying to find out if theres anything wrong with using extra = "clocksource=jiffies" in domU configuration. It seems to fix some problems we''ve had with live migration. Thanks. -- Please remember that an email is just like a postcard; it is not confidential nor private nor secure and can be read by many other people than the intended recipient.

clocksource/0: Time went backwards
Dear fellow Xen''ers! I''m having a problem with my new Xen-enabled colocation server.. I hope ( at least ;) ) one of you guys know how to fix this problem.. For a certain amount of time ( 1-2 days ) the domU runs fine.. until the console starts spitting out messages like these: [80182.004456] clocksource/0: Time went backwards: delta=-6917292717540055641 shadow=80182004054805

Xen 4.0.x 3,000 second time skew problem
Hi, I have two installs of Xen 4.0.1 on Debian squeeze dom0s that occasionally skew the time by 3000 seconds. It is always 3000 seconds and it always affects all guests. Depending on the kernels in the guests they will say: tp0 kernel: [9339489.266542] Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = -2999660317697 ns) or perhaps the kernel doesn''t notice but ntpd does: ls0 ntpd[15009]:

VMware Server clock woes (running too fast)
I'm running VMware Server 1.0.6 on a CentOS 5.2 host and am having some clock difficulties. Host OS is x86_64 running on 1.9 GHz AMD Sempron, nVidia chipset. Guest OS's are 32-bit FreeBSD (clock works fine after disabling ACPI, setting the clock source to the PIT, and running the guest tools), WinXP (unknown clock status), and i686 CentOS 5.2 (here is the problem). I've tried pretty

How to boot Ubuntu 9.04(Jaunty) or Debian Lenny (vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-686-bigmem) as domU under Lenny''s vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-xen-686 as dom0. PVM''s initrd issue
Hello, I guess it possible distro specific issue but is it resolvable? I have one node(testing purpose) ganeti 2.0.1 cluster installed over Debian5 Lenny. Almost everything from distro repositories. Only ganeti 2.0.1 and ganeti-debootstrap are from sources. I have it successful run with vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-xen-686 and initrd.img-2.6.26-2-xen-686 from repositories. Both Dom0 and DomU are use the

Fast clock under VMWare
Hi everyone, I have been struggling with having the clock of Linux VM's (including CentOS 4.6 and 5.1) running very fast under VMWare, no matter what I have tried. My platform: - AMD Turion X2 TL-60 - AMD 690 chipset with integrated Radeon x1250 (probably doesn't concern in this case) - Windows Vista Ultimate x64, all Windows Update patches loaded (no SP1 yet) - 4GB RAM - VMWare

xen-4.1: PV domain hanging at startup, jiffies stopped
Hey, I''m experiencing strange problem: non-deterministic PV domain hang, only on some machines (with fast SSD drive). I''ve tried xen-4.1.0 and xen-4.1.1 with many kernels different kernels: VM: - 2.6.38.3 xenlinux based on SUSE package - vanilla 3.0.3 - vanilla 3.1 rc2 dom0: - 2.6.38.3 xenlinux based on SUSE package - vanilla 3.1 rc2 Result always the same: sometimes VM

"Boot loader did not return any data" to make HVM to PV
Hello I''m trying to convert a HVM to PV dom0. The domU is a 10SP2 SLED ( Kernel 2.6.16.60-0.21 i386) and is a SLES11SP2 dom0 (Kernel 3.0.13-0.27-xen 64bit). The truth is that every tutorial I see it differently and I do not know where this error. When I start the domU, pvgrub shows the options but when I select the kenel-xen, returns the error "Boot loader did not return any

Weird Network issue
Hi all: I am pretty new to xen, but ,thanks to you, I am learning fast :) I have a Dell Poweredge 2950 server running Debian Lenny as Dom0 named Asgard I have configured three DomU (Loki, Hermod and Thor) with DHCP support. All the machines (Dom0 and DomU''s) ask for an IP address to a DHCP server in the Office LAN. The DHCP server is configured to bind certain IP addresses to the Dom0
