puppetmaster fails to start using dist puppet.conf file
I''m having an issue with the default puppet.conf distributed with puppet 2.6.4 (FreeBSD port). I''ve reproduced the problem with a completely fresh install on a completely fresh OS in a VM. Under these conditions, running puppetmaster with no config is fine, but simply moving the puppet.conf-dist file to puppet.conf causes the following errors on console: Performing sanity

puppetmaster 0.25.x factdir error
Hello... I started testing puppet 0.25.x on my puppetmaster (RH 5.4 x64_64). I first tried 0.25.1 from EPEL testing, then 0.25.2rc1. I am using apache/mongrel with 10 ports. My puppetmaster configs are in /srv/puppet not /var/puppet. When starting puppetmaster I get the following errors: Port: 18140Could not prepare for execution: Got 1 failure(s) while initializing: change from directory

saving copy of template on puppetmaster
I am using puppet to manage files on the nodes with the ERB templates. Plain old standard. What I need to do is to get a copy of the generated (parsed) template file on the puppet master server. What I want to achieve is that I want to see the current version of the file as it is on the client, but on the server... I was going through the documentation but I didn''t find anything

UID and GID mapping throw DC and Member DC
Correct me if I'm wrong? You say that by RSAT and NIS I add a uid and gid for each user in the DC. As mentioned here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Using_RFC2307_on_a_Samba_DC#Check_if_RFC2307_is_used_by_your_Domain_Controllers If I do this, users are added to the passwd file on the domain controller or saved to the db sam? Im go to try this tomorrow. That big problem is not

UID and GID mapping throw DC and Member DC
What do you mean with different winbinds? I can destroy the member server, its on testing. It is for the version of windbind? I can get this from DC. But I can not do the same with DC. Thunderbird Archive to slower storage - sort of alternate storage
Hi people, When a user archives a message from Thunderbird it moves to an IMAP folder "Archives", everyone knows that. I use dovecot 1:1.2.9-1ubuntu6.5 on Ubuntu 10.04 and want to move that folder (and respective IMAP sub-folders) to a slower storage, link it to original location and my first idea for this is find -type d -name .Archives\* -print0 | \ while read -d $'\0'

puppetmaster through HTTP proxy
I have a test area network that is not routed to the production network because of IP address space re-use between the two networks. I would like the puppetmaster to serve both the production and test area networks. The puppetmaster is on the production network. I understand the puppet to puppetmaster connect to be HTTP using SSL. Can I somehow setup the puppet clients to use an HTTP

Monitoring the puppetmaster
I''m using 0.24 with Webrick (in the process of migrating to 0.25 / passenger). Occasionally, the puppetmasterd becomes unavailable, and we see error messages along the lines of: Could not call puppetmaster.getconfig: #<Errno::ECONNRESET: Connection reset by peer> I believe the puppetmasterd does not completely die, so it is still in the process list. I''m wondering what
