Catalog compile times > 40s - Puppet 2.7.18
I am finding that the puppetlabs-apache module is somehow adding 30-60
seconds onto a host''s catalog compile time when the puppetmaster has no
other hosts contacting or generating catalogs. The Puppetmaster is setup
to use Puppet-2.7.18 - Apache & Passenger. RIght now only 2 hosts are even
configured to use this new PM, the PM itself and a Foreman host. With

Issues with environments not being respected
I''ve ran into a strange issue today while using my development environment I
was receiving some errors about modules that shouldn''t have been used. After
looking it looks like my agent (or master) isn''t respecting the environment
I specify and is actually using the main (master) environment. This used to
work and I haven''t had any changes beyond a upgrade ..

Lookup another node's hiera data - fqdn hierarchy
I''ve begun using Hiera in combination with Foreman, primarily storing data
that is best left in Array/Hash form. I''d like to be able to have a
module, in this case BackupPC, query all the Hiera data for each node where
the backup directories/databases are stored. Then use all that information
on the BackupPC server to generate proper configuration files for each

node parameters
I''ve been using foreman as an ENC and assigning node parameters for some time and it was clearly working but it apparently broke somewhere along the way and I can''t tell why.
Here''s part of the modules/sudoers/manifests/sudoers_hostgroup.pp

parameters in a string for ENC
I am hoping that someone could post a working example of how they use a ''define'' has in a parameter string because I have been working on this for days to no avail (and googling & checking documentation on puppet & foreman sites.
What I am trying to accomplish is to define things within foreman ENC and duplicate the functionality I can get from just using node

Storeconfigs and nagios and foreman
All-
Poking around in the bug database it looks like storeconfigs is being
actively worked on. I am using 2.7.6 on my master as well as all the
clients. I have clients boot , start puppet and get a signed cert via
auto signing. The nagios module (and currently the only thing puppet
does) complains a lot during compile time about not having
storeconfigs enabled, which is not the case in my

"Mounts without paths are not usable"
Good day to you.
I''ve updated my puppetmaster and clients to 0.25.x and also updated
file serving paths to include "/modules/". I also use foreman to
monitor puppetd reports, after update there are sporadically emerging
errors :
"Failed to retrieve current state of resource: Mounts without paths
are not usable Could not describe /modules/puppet-client/

Adding Foreman to an existing Puppet master
Greetings:
Sorry for cross-posting this question, but I haven''t gotten any love
over on the Google Forum for Foreman users<https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/foreman-users> (their
forum isn''t as active as this one). I only recently learned about The
Foreman and I''d like to deploy it on a 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS workstation
to provision/manage a bunch of

Hi,
I created a centOS6 EC2 instance last night and ran the foreman puppet module but it came back with a few years. Was hoping somebody could help me understand these errors.

No reports in foreman
Dear all
I am trying to set up reports in foreman, but foreman tells me to configure
it.
What am I doing wrong?
I have on the puppet master:
/var/lib/puppet/reports/foreman.rb
with $foreman_url=http://rh6-puppet-master
Do I need the port?
/etc/puppet/puppet.conf with in [main] reports = log, foreman
I restarted the service service puppetmaster restart

Puppet+Foreman: class into module couldn't apply on nodes
Hello,
I try config puppet with foreman frontend. Into puppetmasterd I create
modules "test" and create init.pp:
# Create "/tmp/testfile" if it doesn''t exist.
class test_class {
file { "/tmp/testfile":
ensure => present,
mode => 644,
owner => root,

rspec-puppet and puppet doc conflicts
I recently started trying to use rspec-puppet and puppetlabs-rspec-helper.
When I ran ''rspec-puppet-init'' in one o fmy modules, it created a series of
symlinks.
Now, when I run puppet doc (via a rake task supplied by The Foreman, but
also when I call it directly) I get the following error:

puppetca trouble (The certificate retrieved from the master does not match the agent's private key)
Hi @all,
i have a foreman-proxy server, build from scratch, works fine and i can
build unattended hosts.
I don''t want to configure all my foreman-proxys manually, so i build them
in puppet, and only setup the OS (SL) and basic puppet config manually.
I can run the puppet configuration sucsessfully, my config is exactly what
i want, but i am unable to build unattended hosts anymore,

puppet files denied by SELinux
Hey guys,
Quick update. I grepped through the output of getsebool -a to see that
related to puppet. And I found this setting: puppetagent_manage_all_files.
So I tried running this command: setsebool -P puppetagent_manage_all_files

And did a restorecon on my modules directory: restorecon -R -v

So there's good news and bad news to report! It seems that

hiera scope and hiera-foreman
Hey all,
I''ve been messing around with the hiera-foreman backend to see if it would
let me migrate to hiera and use foreman and an ENC.
https://github.com/torrancew/hiera-foreman
It works by querying each node''s yaml file from foreman. Currently this
code works when called from the hiera command line with the -m (mcollective
option). It uses the mcollective facts to pull
