program xxx is not vulnerable.
Sometimes linux-security gets a message stating that program xxx might
be vulnerable to an yyy-attack (*). Sometimes people follow up stating
that they couldn''t find an exploit.
If I ask the test-squad to test some know-to-work exploit, I get about
a 50/50 response. Half couldn''t get the published exploit to work.
I''ve learned to interpret "nope it doesn''t

Building new graphic device drivers with g++
Dear Group,
I'm trying to build a set of new graphic device drivers. I use the
devNull example a a beginning point:
$ R CMD SHLIB devNull.c
gcc -shared -L/usr/local/lib -o devNull.so devNull.o
(everything works OK)
$ R CMD SHLIB devNull.cpp

The difficulties start when trying to compile manually. I compile the

Post-login scripting with virtual users
I am running Dovecot 2.0.13 on Fedora 15. I have migrated from a
bincimap installation using checklocalpwd. All email is in folders
owned by a unprivileged user, popuser. The email users are entirely
virtual and have no relationship to actual linux users.
My userdb calls return the UID and GID of popuser and all goes well
retrieving the mail via POP3 and IMAP.
I am trying to implement a

smtp_address_cmp does not ignore case of localpart
Hi,
in src/lib-smtp/smtp-address.c line 759 the localpart is compared with
null_strcmp, which does not ignore the case. While this is the correct
behavior (according to the RFC) it causes problems in real life.
In my case the vacation notices are not sent, if someone writes to
First.Last at ruhr-uni-bochum.de because :addresses contains (only)
first.last at ruhr-uni-bochum.de.

segfault in AIX
I'm trying to build R 2.4.0 on an IBM P5-570 that's running
AIX 5.3. I'm using xlc 7.0, xlc++ 7.0 and xlf 9.1 in 32 bit
mode (OBJECT_MODE is 32 in the build environment).
The source is the patched version of 2.4.0, downloaded yesterday.
Configure options were --prefix, --srcdir, --x-includes, --x-libraries,
and --without-readline. Compiler flags were -O2.
The make step fails with

routing ssh to secondary uplink
Hello,
I''m following this HOWTO
http://linux-ip.net/html/adv-multi-internet.html to route outgoing SSH
from a secondary ISP. I can see using tcpdump, jnettop, iftop that when
one of the computers located in my internal network is trying to SSH to
a box online using SSH, packets are routed via the secondary internet
ethernet card. However, packets don''t seem to know how to get back.

[PATCH] ssh: set proctitle for mux master
Preserving the command line from the invoking ssh command doesn't
make much sense, so use setproctitle() to hide the arguments.

Avoiding console prints by Libvirt Qemu python APIs
Hi,
I am trying to check if a domain exists by using the libvirt python API
*"lookupbyname()*". If the domain does not exist, it prints an error
message on the console saying "*Domain not found*".
I need the errors or logs only in syslog. I have tried redirecting stderr
and stdout. But, it doesn't have any effect. I have also tried playing
around with the libvirt logging

ssh -f and -O ControlPersist=yes, ControlMaster=yes leaves stderr open
Hi
I'm trying to wrap ssh in an application using glib. For now, I'm launching the
ssh client in master mode and want it to detach, keeping the control socket around.
I figured I could do that using the -f flag and the usual Control* options to
force ssh to daemonize (ideally without executing any command), but it turns out
that glib doesn't recognize the daemonized process as

OpenSSH 3.1: ssh-rand-helper
Dear openssh-developers,
the new external program ssh-rand-helper appeared in
OpenSSH 3.1. While the SFTP_SERVER is defined using
a _PATH_SFTP_SERVER pointing to SFTP_SERVER in Makefile.in
and defining a default-path in pathnames.h the ssh-rand-helper
is simply SSH_RAND_HELPER and defined with a fixed path
in Makefile.in and not having a default in pathnames.h.
I propose a handling analogous to

[Fwd: Re: Problem with domain membership]
Well, this is what I did: I removed secrets.tdb, joined the domain again

Is there a chance to sniff details of the credentials the member-server
uses to connect to the PDC?
