Couldn't obtain random bytes
I am trying to generate a ssh_known_hosts2 file, 2.9.9p2, using: ssh-keyscan -f list_of_hosts -t rsa > ssh_known_hosts.rsa and ssh-keyscan -f list_of_hosts -t dsa > ssh_known_hosts.dsa but both commands fail almost immidiately with: Couldn't obtain random bytes (error 604389476) What could that mean? Servers that I am aware of that I query is: OpenSSH_2.5.1p2 OpenSSH_2.5.2p2

Winproj and permissions
Hello, I have discovered a slight problem with MS-Project4 on a WinDD server, where users are not able to update the *.MPP file. We have all data files stored on a UNIX box, using samba-2.05a, on an RS6000 running AIX 4.2.1, so all *.MPP files are stored there, with the proper UNIX user's userid and permissions. The problem is that userB can not update and save changes in a file that userA

Logging levels
I recently upgraded from Samba v3.6.25 to v4.3.3. After the upgrade, I realized I should change my smb.conf because the syslog parameters are deprecated. My old parameters were: log level = 1 syslog = 6 syslog only = yes Also, I built Samba with --with-syslog-facility=LOG_LOCAL7. I'm having trouble replicating the same configuration with v4.3.3. The syslog

A bug in the R Mersenne Twister (RNG) code?
I don't see evidence of a bug. There have been several versions of the MT; we may be using a different version than you are. Ours is the 1999/10/28 version; the web page you cite uses one from 2002. Perhaps the newer version fixes some problems, and then it would be worth considering a change. But changing the default RNG definitely introduces problems in reproducibility, so it's

A bug in the R Mersenne Twister (RNG) code?
I wonder how useful a (set of?) "time machine" functions which look up /infer things like this based on a date would be. Could ease the pain of changes generally, though not remove it completely. ~G On Wed, Aug 31, 2016 at 5:45 PM, Paul Gilbert <pgilbert902 at gmail.com> wrote: > > > On 08/30/2016 06:29 PM, Duncan Murdoch wrote: > >> I don't see evidence of

SECURITY QUESTION & SANITY CHECK
SECURITY QUESTION & SANITY CHECK: If only my SIP ports and a small range of RTP ports are facing the public internet, what is the method by which an evildoer would be able to do fraudulent long distance on my nickel? Would it REALLY be as simple as guessing the credentials for ANY of my local sip endpoints? Like most people, my local endpoint credentials would be easy to guess: Username

A bug in the R Mersenne Twister (RNG) code?
Whomever, I recently sent the "bug report" below toR-core at r-project.org and have just been asked to instead submit it to you. Although I am basically not an R user, I have installed version 3.3.1 and am also the author of a statistics program written in Visual Basic that contains a component which correctly implements the Mersenne Twister (MT) algorithm. I believe that it is

[1.2]-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:SoC - Remapping keys? Hi, I am running Wine 1.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 32bit Linux. I wish to remap the movement keys in: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, but when I try, it always maps "Pause" ? Any help would be appreciated! Running game through Valve's Steam client. Game seems to work fine otherwise... Jesse

Game Locking Up Due to Sound?
I'm relatively new to Linux. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04. I've installed Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl. The game runs fine but with absolutely no sound. I configure the sound using ALSA in the drivers portion of the audio tab and the test works fine. I have removed pulse audio as I have read this conflicts with WINE. It seems if I try to use an audio driver the game then locks up and all

Guest can't access IPC$ - Samba 1.9.18p7, Linux 2.0.32
I'm not sure what broke my samba server, but I *used* to be able to distribute patches for software to my guests from my Samba server. Some time in between, I've upgraded Linux from 2.0.30 to 2.0.32, and I've upgraded the Samba RPM from whatever to 1.9.18p7. Now, I can't even browse the share list without logging on. Any idea what gives? Does anyone have this configuration working

Problems with conversation functions PAM + OpenSSH
Hello sorry, for bothering you with this problem, but I ca't find solutions. I write small PAM module, and I've got the problem with conversation function with OpenSSH 3.5p1. When the message style is PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_ON, or PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_OFF everything is allright. But when I use PAM_TEXT_INFO, or PAM_ERROR_MSG, ssh prints nothing on the client side. Does anyone know the reason of
