restricting rsync over ssh
Is it true that when running rsync via ssh (i.e. rsync -e ssh ...) the rsyncd.conf file is not applicable on the remote since rsync is launched via the ssh exec call once connected rather than from rsyncd as in a direct connect. If so, I am trying to find the best way to restrict rsync -e ssh on the remote machine. Prepending the authorized_keys entry with command='rsync ...' 1024...

Problem with domain controller & win98
Hi there, I set up my samba that it acts as a domain controller, when i start network neigborhood and click on the linux system and select netlogon ([NETLOGON] entry in smb.conf) i first had the problem with windows 98 that my password always was wrong. i fixed this with a registry setting (something with plaintext), now this part works. Re: sshd and PAM [summary]
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hi, I''ve got several replies, thank you for them. Let me summarize: o Many people say there is a PAMified version of ssh available at ftp://ftp.replay.com/pub/crypto/redhat/SRPMS (the source) ftp://ftp.replay.com/pub/crypto/redhat/i386 (Intel binaries) (there are analogous paths for the other architectures). Constructing bar charts with standard error bars
I am new to R. I want to graph group data using a "Traditional Bar Chart with Standard Error Bar", like the kind shown here: http://samiam.colorado.edu/~mcclella/ftep/twoGroups/twoGroupGraphs.html Is there a simple way to do this? So far, I have only figured out how to plot the bars using barplot. testdata <- scan(, list(group=0,xbar=0,se=0)) 400 0.36038 0.02154 200 0.35927

ipportfw - security
Hi Are there any known security holes or necessary precautions in using port forwarding with ipportfw? I'm planning on forwarding ports from an outer firewall/router (connected to the Internet) to a host in the DMZ, then on from the DMZ host to the inner firewall, and finally from the inner firewall to some host on the inside. Thanks, Jens jph@strengur.is From mail@mail.redhat.com Wed

RedHat broke termcap on the 4.2 libtermcap security upgrade
RedHat broke termcap on the 4.2 libtermcap security upgrade. Until RedHat gets a chance to fix it, fixed RPMS are here: http://linux.samiam.org/blackdragon - Sam (Who is just glad that RedHat continues to keep RedHat 4.2 current with security, even though it is an older distribution. In fact, their support is the best support I have seen for a legacy distro) "That which does not

variance?,...
hi I'm learning R and making some examples. One of them is that for given distribution I show density function, distribution function expected value and variance(?). I know EX <- function(xval, xprob) sum( (xval*xprob) ); where xval is vector of values and xprob vector of probabalities, but DX <- function(xval, xprob) EX((xval^2),xprob) - (EX(xval,xprob))^2; doesn't work as I

openssh (fwd)
Some people on the OpenSSH list have expressed an interest in Kerberos version 5 support. Below is a (non-US) URL recently posted for a patch to OpenSSH to work with Heimdal, the international K5 implementation. I haven't checked to see if the patch would work with MIT or MIT-derived K5 libraries. -- Mike Fisk, RADIANT Team, Network Engineering Group, Los Alamos National Lab See

problem with smbclient access to NT4.0 WS share
Thanks to all for a wonderful package. It's sharing fine from my Debian box but smbclient isn't working the other way round. Here's the detail: I have three machines together: an NT4 Workstation (sp3), a Win95 machine and a Debian (Hamm = latest stable release). The NT 4 machine has a shared drive I want to access from my Debian machine. I can access that share from the win95
