poor mans puppet, can puppet work with a offline puppetmaster?
Could I use my local laptop as a puppet master, and only start up the puppetmaster when I have a change I want to send over to the nodes? Say I only have 1 server, and I don''t want or even need a puppetmaster running all the time. Is this or something close to this type of setup possible? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet

Howto install domU CentOS 5 directly on partition
Hi. I am new to CentOS (Debian user) and I am looking for way how to install CentOS 5 on domU in the way that I have it directly on dom0 LVM partition. If I install it with virtual-manager then the installation program takes that partition as a disk and then creates new partitions on it. I don''t want it that way because I cannot then mount it from dom0. Is there some way how to

Ie instead of: file { "main_cvd": path => "/var/lib/clamav/main.cvd",

HA firewall with tinc
I have 2 firewall in HA with keepalived. Can I use active the same tinc configuration on 2 firewalls ? using tun Interface with same ip on all 2 nodes is a problem ? tun device advertise itself on the network having an IP/MAC pairs (ARP) or the IP is only used by the system internally for routing so using the same configuration is right ? so one firewall be active, the other is passive. Running puppet as non-root => getting rid of all those ownership warnings
I''m using puppet to manage configs on machines where I don''t have root access. Whenever I use a File resource where the source is a puppet:// resource, I get tons of warnings when I run puppet that look like: Cannot manage ownership unless running as root True enough, I''m not running as root, but I also didn''t specifically mention a "owner"

interactive rotatable 3d scatterplot
I would like to create a 3d scatterplot that is interactive in the sense that I can spin it on its axes to better visualize some PCA results I have. What are the options in R? I've looked at RGL and perhaps it will suffice but it wasn't apparent from the documentation I found. Any demo scripts available for a package that will work? Mark -- Mark W. Some ''in service'' questions
Hi, Just a quick query about some things that crop up when I run ''puppetd --test''. Every time I run this command I always see the following output, which I think is strange as the ''man'' package has been installed previously and the firewall service is definitely running. Has anybody got any suggestions as to why puppet thinks it needs to install the man
