tcp 22 > tcp 22
Hi,
I spotted today following line at my FreeBSD 4.6.2-RELEASE IPFIREWALL log:
Jul 1 13:34:35 fbsd /kernel: ipfw: 1400 Accept TCP xxxxxx:22 yyyyy:22 in via
ed1
where xxxxxx is the attacker's IP and yyyyy is my box.
But in sshd log, there are no traces left behind by this connection.
Normally, there is "Did not receive identification string from xxx" etc, when
somebody tries to

ActionController::UnknownHttpMethod: ***, accepted HTTP methods are get, head, put, post, delete, and options
I''m occasionally getting exception notices with this error message:
ActionController::UnknownHttpMethod: ***, accepted HTTP methods are
get, head, put, post, delete, and options
Anyone ever seen this or know what could be causing it?
Thanks,

Failure of gvinum after panic
Hi all,
I have some problems with my gvinum setup after the system panic'ed.
Afterwards the system fails finding the plexes to the subdisks (or at
least that is what I can understand after having searched the gvinum
source code for the error string in the DMESG log..)
The machine is an IBM Netfinity 5000 and the internal HW self tests
does not find any errors in the hw.
Luckily my root is

help on ADSL shaping
Hi
I have read the howto on qdisc''s a few times but I cant figure out how to
use the shaping capabilities to serve my needs. In the village whera I
live we have created a wireless local network consisting of 10 houses. One
of these houses has an ADSL connection and services this connection to the
other houses. To gain access to the network a member must have an
accesspoint in client mode,

mount problems during install
Hi there!
I'm a very confident wine user and totally pleasured except this issue:
When trying to install a program requiring more then one cd (in this
case Soldier of Fortune 2) the installer asks me to change the cd, but
as linux requires to unmount cds before they can be ejected and
unmounting is not possible even by -forcing it because of the program on
the cd being in use.
Is there any

OpenSSH heads-up
OK, an official OpenSSH advisory was released, see here:
<URL: http://www.mindrot.org/pipermail/openssh-unix-announce/2003-September/000063.html >
The fix is currently in FreeBSD -CURRENT and -STABLE. It will be
applied to the security branches as well today. Attached are patches:
buffer46.patch -- For FreeBSD 4.6-RELEASE and later
buffer45.patch -- For FreeBSD 4.5-RELEASE and

Kerberized applications in FreeBSD 5.x
In FreeBSD 5.x only telnet/telnetd works 'out of box' with kerberos.
Why ftp/ftpd, ssh/sshd and cvs do not support kerberos ?
Thanks!

OpenSSH: multiple vulnerabilities in the new PAM code
This affects only 3.7p1 and 3.7.1p1. The advice to leave
PAM disabled is far from heartening, nor is the semi-lame
blaming the PAM spec for implementation bugs.
I happen to like OPIE for remote access.

Constantly have to restart samba
Hmmm. This does sound odd...
A couple of things I can think of off the top of my head would be:
- Make sure you are using the "interfaces" option in the [global] section of
your smb.conf file.
This will force Samba to broadcast share info on the given interface. By
default, Samba latches onto the first interface it finds (on my machine,
this is usually my modem connection to the

ftp.freebsd.org out of date? (WRT security advisories)
It seems (at least for me) the patches on ftp.freebsd.org are out of
date for the 03:12 security advisory (openssh). ftp2.freebsd.org has
them fine.
I'm wondering if this is a mirror issue or perhaps round-robin DNS problem?
What compounds the issue is that right now the old openssh 3.7 patches
are there (on ftp.freebsd.org), but not the 3.7.1 patches (which can be
