MAP_ANON replacement?
Here I would like to suggest a replacement for MAP_ANON on systems which do not have it, such as Solaris < 8. In "man mmap" of Solaris 8: When MAP_ANON is set in flags, and fd is set to -1, mmap() provides a direct path to return anonymous pages to the caller. This operation is equivalent to passing mmap() an open file descriptor on /dev/zero with

Failure of gvinum after panic
Hi all, I have some problems with my gvinum setup after the system panic'ed. Afterwards the system fails finding the plexes to the subdisks (or at least that is what I can understand after having searched the gvinum source code for the error string in the DMESG log..) The machine is an IBM Netfinity 5000 and the internal HW self tests does not find any errors in the hw. Luckily my root is

mount problems during install
Hi there! I'm a very confident wine user and totally pleasured except this issue: When trying to install a program requiring more then one cd (in this case Soldier of Fortune 2) the installer asks me to change the cd, but as linux requires to unmount cds before they can be ejected and unmounting is not possible even by -forcing it because of the program on the cd being in use. Is there any

Using Samba with 2 ethernet interfaces
I've search the archives & found several requests for help with configuring Samba for 2 ethernet interfaces, but can't seem to find any answers posted. So, I'll try asking!
