Upgraded puppet-server from EPEL 24.8 to 25.1 - now seeing "puppetmasterd[xxxx]: Too many connections"
I have updated the 1100 clients that prior to the update used to
connect to the master just fine. Now after about 30 minutes of
running, puppetmasterd starts to complain "puppetmasterd[6875]: Too
many connections", and from that point forward will stop compiling
catalogs. Puppetmaster is configured using the Mongrel Apache
configuration as described here:

PuppetDatabase - collection "yes", anything in db "no"
Hi there!
I´m trying to get my PuppetmasterDB running.
Problem is, though I´m not getting any errors from the puppetmaster
there is nothing stored in the database, not even tables are created. I
tried "puppetmasterd --dbmigrate", didn´t help either.
rails.log is kinda empty too..
Thing is: it kinda works anyway, there is just nothing stored in the DB

End of file and other errors: solution
For anyone that has experienced the odd End of file or Cannot describe
errors, we''ve found that switching to Mongrel has fixed this problem for
us. We''re currently running 5 instance of puppetmaster under mongrel (with
the apache proxy in front) and things are going great.

Long config retrieval on nodes
Hi all, hoping someone may have encountered a problem similar to this
before:
On my customer''s EC2 based infrastructure, we have implemented the
nodeless, truth driven module outlined by Jordan Sissel here
http://www.semicomplete.com/blog/geekery/puppet-nodeless-configuration.
It''s quite an effective model, especially in the realm of EC2... we still
have a puppetmaster

Anyone using storeconfigs with a DB other than sqlite?
Just wondering if anyone is using a backend database other than sqlite,
and if so, how easy/hard it was to configure.
I''m constantly receiving "SQLite3::BusyException: database is locked..."
which I presume is due to sqlite''s relatively coarse locking method.
Cheers,
James

puppetd daemon vs. cron
Hi,
I''m running multiple vservers and have some aspects managed via puppet. I
noticed that puppetd consumes from 20 to 60 mb RAM and the longer the process
runs, the more RAM it takes. It looks like 60MB is the top what I measured.
Having a couple of vservers (11 in my case) this can already take up to 500MB
just for puppet! I''m wondering if there''s any downside in

Facts not being updated when using storeconfigs
Hi,
I think I''m having a similar problem to the user who raised this bug:
http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/ticket/733
I''m running 0.23.2 with storeconfigs. I''ve got it working to the point
where my clients'' facts are being populated in the database[*] but
updates don''t seem to happen unless I restart puppetmasterd. For
example:

Foreman -- Reporting
Hello All,
I don''t seem to be able to get reports to display on the foreman
interface. I copied extras/puppet/foreman/files/foreman-report.rb to /
usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/reportsforeman.rb, instead of /usr/
lib/ruby/1.8/puppet/reports/foreman.rb. Config: Centos5.4, Apache/
Passenger, Puppet 0.25.4.
The reports are coming from the clients, because I can see them

Puppet with Mongrel
Hi, I have just successfully configured Puppet to run with Mongrel, and
would like to update the documentation with what I''ve learned. However,
since I''m not an expert with these things, I thought I''d share with the
list before updating the wiki. So here''s what I''d change:

Problem retreiving catalog
I updated some of my gems, and I think it may be the reason I am getting
the following error when the agents try to retrieve a catalog.
err: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER:

''Host::Managed''. This error is raised because the column ''type'' is reserved

multiple puppetmasters (w/ Passenger) behind load balancer
Hello Gang,
I''m working on scaling my puppet solution, and I''m deploying multiple
masters w/ passenger that are going sit behind a load balancer. If anyone
is using these type of setup, would you share how you deal with the SSL
certs? I''ve been following Bode''s Blog (http://bodepd.com/wordpress/?p=7),
and it''s not working to good for me.

puppetmasterd file handle problem
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi all,
I''m running the latest version of puppet (debian 0.22.4-2), and I''ve
gotten to a point with my configuration where puppetmasterd needs to be
restarted every few days due to what seem like file handles not getting
closed.
I either see this set of errors:

Storeconfigs
Hello,
Anyone have any luck getting storeconfigs + MySQL working? I was getting
some freaky uninformative errors:
err: Could not call: wrong number of arguments (1 for 0)
It''d be great if we could get a wiki page up, there appears to be a
pretty large consensus of people who are unable to get it running.
Regards,
AJ
