Opieaccess file, is this normal?
Hi, I'm trying to setup one-time passwords on freebsd5.2.1 >From what I've read so far, if the user is present in opiekeys, the opieaccess file determines if the user (coming from a specific host or network) is allowed to use his unix password from this specific network. As my opieaccess file is empty and the default rule (as mentionned in the man file) is deny, I should not be

smb.conf template homedir
For local login to our samba server, we are using posix information stored in an openldap directory. - I can log in via shell with no problems. We are authenticating samba against AD2003. I can attach to the samba server from both windows and macintosh - just not access my home directory. Currently, "template homedir = /home/%U" - which results in a path of /home/<username> I

wbinfo -a works but wbinfo -i doesn't
We're in the process of upgrading from 3.2.14 to 3.5.4 on RHEL5.2 in an effort to eliminate frequent complete system pauses when winbindd pulls info from the AD2003 servers. The 3.2.14 packages were removed, 3.5.4 installed, and the previous smb.conf file reinstated. wbinfo -i works, as do -g -u -t -a -K and -m. However wbinfo -i doesn't. It returns "Could not get info for user"

ms-rpc dynamic port range
Hi everyone, According to the samba wiki page [1], samba ms-rpc dynamic port range is 1024-5000, which looks mostly coherent with a quick tcpdump analysis. However it seems like there are also some connection in the upper range or MS-RPC 49152-65535. It seems that the lower range would be for AD2003 according to kb832017, and that the upper range would be for AD2008 and up [2]. So my

My Documents Folder Redirection to Samba Share
Does anyone know how to setup the smb.conf file for the my document folder redirection in windows. If I point it to a root share, with a Microsoft file server, it will automatically create a folder for each user with a my documents folder under that. How can I get that to happen with a samba share. Using Debian Etch and Samba 3.0.24 and fairly new to samba. The default smb.conf makes mention

Samba problem
Dear Samba, I have installed Samba 3.022 version on my FreeBSD 6.1 Release version. Samba installation purpose is to integrate squid authentication process with AD2003 system. Everything works fine, by mean users authenticates and get acces to internet. But if I wanna to implement group access level for users I get trouble with winbindd, so it does not want to work. The trouble is in invalid

strange Samba3 / sudo / ldapsearch problem
Hi, I recently triied to set up a special PDF creation service for a customer. The Samba3 server is a AD2003 member server. Since the created PDF files need to be sent via e-mail to the creators, I need to issue an LDAP query against the AD, like ldapsearch -h 10.243.50.22 -Y GSSAPI -b "ou=user,ou=... ..." \ -LLL '(cn=lastname firstname*)' mail As long as I run this command

Migrating domain from Samba 3 to Windows 2003
At the risk of being called a turncoat and traitor in Sambaland, I ask, "how do I migrate from a Samba 3 domain to a Windows 2003 Active Directory domain?" A customer has determined that they wish to use the groupware features of Microsoft Exchange. They already have the licenses they need, so there's no point in convincing them that Samba will be cheaper or that some

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is harmfull
Hi. Consider the following situation: Solaris 8, /usr/local has gcc 2.95, my home has gcc 3.4.3, my gcc is first on PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH is unset (everything is perfect since I always use -R). In fact, programs compiled with my gcc do not work if LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set to something which has /usr/local/lib before home/lib, because it overrides stored path (-R) and I got libgcc_s.so.1

Samba 3 and Mac OS X Jaguar to authenticate AD2003 users
Hi all My network is splitted in two parts: windows and macintosh, but all the usernames/password are on a win2003 server (with active directory, of course). I'd jusk like to allow authentication on both platforms with a single username, stored in AD. I read somewhere that OS X Server 10.3 has Samba 3 as a default package installed, but I can't unfortunately upgrade the OS, so I need some

ad2003 schema while forest/domain at 2008R2 level
Hi everyone, I came across this issue today while upgrading a samba4 AD. The forest/domain level is 2008R2, however the schema partition is actually missing the msDS-isRODC attribute (and probably a few others). It makes the ADUC console to failed on that entry below. Here is the samba log message (which is quite explicit :-) Sep 28 16:55:36 srvads samba[27900]: [2016/09/28 16:55:36.819666,

Samba 3.0.7 domain membership with AD2003
hi guys, I have problems with authentification in a 2003 domain membership configuration of samba 3.0.7. I'm a newbie in linux systems, then I will give you my configuration process of the program. The samba server is installed on a Redhat 9.0 without any base install of samba, without kerberos and with the open LDAP RPM installed. I follow this procedure to build binarie from sources
