Ok, I installed Ruby/LDAP to try and get Puppet''s ldapnodes support working and despite doing this I am still getting errors from puppetmasterd "notice: Could not set up LDAP Connection: Missing ruby/ldap libraries" followed by "info: Skipping ldap source; no ldap connection".
I traced down this particular message to: lib/puppet/parser/interpreter.rb and it appears

puppet and LDAP users
I am trying to get puppet to manage my LDAP users but I don''t appear
to be having much success. What I have in puppet.conf is this

ldapuser=cn=admin,dc=myorg,dc=org

cfrun equivalent
Is there an equivalent to cfrun in puppet. On the cfengine master you
can do the command cfrun <hostname> which allows you to tell the
cfengine client to run. This is useful for immediately pushing
changes out immediately (or telling the client to pull).

rspec-puppet not working
I''m trying to get rspec-puppet working and have run into a problem. I have
a VM running ubuntu lucid, have installed rubygems 1.3.5 from the apt
package and have install rspec-puppet (and other required gems), and rake,
using gem install.
I''ve run rspec-puppet-init in the module I want to test, and have created a
very basic spec file for one of the classes in my module.

Upgraded puppet-server from EPEL 24.8 to 25.1 - now seeing "puppetmasterd[xxxx]: Too many connections"
I have updated the 1100 clients that prior to the update used to
connect to the master just fine. Now after about 30 minutes of
running, puppetmasterd starts to complain "puppetmasterd[6875]: Too
many connections", and from that point forward will stop compiling
catalogs. Puppetmaster is configured using the Mongrel Apache
configuration as described here:

Puppet ldapnodes issue
I am attempting to move our test puppet installation from looking for node information in a manifest to LDAP. I followed the instructions at: https://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/LdapNodes and was able to get the puppet schema loaded into our LDAP.
I can now query LDAP and modify/load data without any issues using the OpenLDAP tools.
