[Semi-OT] Advice on large webmail setup
Hi all,
As the resident Linux guru, I've just been tasked with costing a webmail setup
for about 600 000 users. They each have 10MiB (small, I know) mailboxes. The
current setup has about 40 million web page accesses per month.
Has anyone here any experience with this kind of thing? If so, any pointers as
to software and hardware used, and any other advice would be appreciated.
TIA

We are a public k-12 school and are looking to migrate to a groupware
style system for out staff to collaborate better. Currently we are using
Squirrelmail/postfix for email. Does anyone have any
recommendations/opinions. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Dovecot strong or not for a big Webmail architecture
Hello,
Do you think Dovecot could handle millions of active users in a big architecture ?
This cluster could be for example (each server is a bi quad Xeon 2.66 Ghz) :
- 40 Dovecot servers
- 4 LVS
- 20 Apache+PHP
- 2 Openldap
- 20 Postfix + ClamAV + SpamAssassin
- 1 NFS Netapps
For millions of user it could be multiple different clusters of 40 Dovecot servers with 1 Netapp for each cluster.

Mail Server Install
Hi Friends,
I am planning to upgrade my mail server from CentOS4.5 to CentOS5. By this, I also planned to replace my postfix mail server with Scalix although the community edition limit me to just 25 premium user, I think it is suffice for us with the remaining user as standard user (with approx. <> 100 users total). Is there a catch on using Scalix based on your experience. I see that

web based mail packages for CentOS
Hello Everyone,
I was using OpenGroupware but just hosed my system. Since I'm starting
from scratch I would like to know what everyone's using for web based
mail. I currently implemented cyrus-imapd and postfix which I used
before. I was going to give dovecot a try but it wouldn't start even
though it was supposed to be easier.
I would like to move my postfix to a chroot but have

Problem accessing my webmail
Hi,
I just finished replacing my mail server with the new one from CentOS 4.6 to CentOS 5.1. The mail are running smoothly with user able to send/receive mail from Outlook using IMAP or POP3 and Webmail locally. My problem is that when I am outside my network like in home, I cannot able to access the Webmail. In my prior mail server, it is ok. Is there anybody here have clues for me to look for?

Disabling IPv4
I want to seriously work with IPv6 and not have stray IPv4 functions
messing with me.
So in /etc/sysconfig/network, I commented out NETWORKING=yes. I have
NETWORKING_IPV6=yes.
In /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts I altered ifcfg-eth0, setting
BOOTPROTO=none. That was enough for eth0 to only have IPv6 working on
it (have IPV6INIT=yes and IPV6_AUTOCONF=yes).
But lo had IPv4. So I commented

Zimbra help?
Hi All,
Is anyone versed in Zimbra? I have most things working except some MTA issue. I tried posting on the Zimbra forums after reading the docs, but my post was labeled as SPAM and the moderators have not replied to my private message to get my post reviewed. Who uses this type of method for getting help anyway? Aren't the days of Bulletin Board BBS's gone?
Anyway...

Calendar server
I recently switched to using Thunderbird for my email and installed the
Lightning calendar add-on. Now all I need is a remote calendar server.
I just need a simple server to support a few personal calendars and a
shared calendar. Any recommendations for a CentOS / Apache based
calendar server?

Zimbra benchmarking
Now that I have a working kvm setup, I thought I'd finally try how
Zimbra works. This is mainly some microbenchmarking, so it may not have
much to do with actual performance in real life.
Setup:
- 1GB memory given to kvm (from host's 2GB)
- Intel Core 2 6600 (kvm uses only one CPU)
- CentOS 5
- 15GB qcow2 image on XFS filesystem
- Zimbra 5.0 RC2 RHEL5 x86_64
- Dovecot latest hg,

What to backup?
Hi All,
I am now working on a plan of what to backup from various servers that I have running
I run Apache, so httpd.conf and /var/www/html
I run Zimbra currently, so /opt/zimbra/store, /opt/zimbra/my.cnf and /opt/zimbra/db/
I run MySQL, so /etc/my.cnf and /var/lib/mysql
Can I simply write a bash script to tar.gz these areas, scp them and put it in a cron job?
Is there anything special that
