Putty X11 problem
I use WinSCP to connect to remote server with wine. I use Putty as a terminal, but it seems, I cannot use X11 tunneling to run graphical applicatoins from this remote server, although X11 is enabled in Putty. Is there a solution for that?

X11 forwarding
I need to enable forward the xWindows through my SSH session, but I'm having
trouble. I'm using Putty and I've configured it to allow enable x11
forwarding through the ssh tunnel. I've also edited the
/etc/ssh/sshd_config and set X11Forwarding yes. After doing this, it's not
working. I'm sure there's quite a bit not doing. Could anybody offer any
guidance? This is

Tag forwarded X11 connection as remote
Dear all,
This thread began before I was on the list. I am wondering if it is
relevant for my question re: why/how older versions of openssh
recognized the X11forwarding "attribute" - and a better place to be posting.
Using Putty (and an "external Xserver program") as well as a another
"ssh client with built-in X11 service) and any version of openSSH prior

X11 forwarding over SSH - yet another loop-hole ?
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I recently noticed
something strange with X11 forwarding over SSH. I was running X11 on my Mac
(OS X Server 10.4.8) and had two separate SSH sessions open to two different
Linux boxes (I used the -Y flag). I started Firefox on the first box and
then subsequently started Firefox on the second box. But instead of starting

OT: configuring xming to know putty's not in a std. location
Is there some way to do this? I've got the current putty (actually,
putty-cac), pageant, and plink in my user's Downlods directory - neither
he nor I have admin authority on his laptop, and Desktop support's
teleworking today - but I can't seem to find a way to configure xming to
look there for putty.
Or is it start putty, *then* start xming?

X forwarding on OpenServer
Hi All,
I've been having issues getting X forwarding to work on OpenServer for OpenSSH versions 3.4p1 and 3.5p1. I have compiled OpenSSH on Redhat Linux 8.0, Solaris 8, and OpenServer 5.0.6, but the OpenServer box is the only one that exhibits the problem. I've detailed everything below.
I am using PuTTY for my ssh client under Windows. If I connect to the Linux or Solaris boxes, X

PuTTY: Forwarded connection refused by server: Administratively prohibited [open failed]
Hello,
In my installation, one of the resolvers specified in /etc/resolv.conf
on the sshd OpenSSH server side appears to be experiencing some issues,
and this results in the following issues on the client side with PuTTY:
* a SOCKS5-powered multi-tab web-browser has some web-pages timeout
(takes many seconds), whereas other web-pages stall during this time
* during the time where any

Using Pageant & Putty under Wine -
I am having an issue with Putty v.60 with Pageant v.60 under Wine-1.1.5.
The OS is Fedora 10 x86_64, and the Wine it the current RPM version for Fedora.
It is not that Pageant or Putty is not working; both do load. Putty does talk SSH2
properly.
The actual issue is that Keys that are loaded into Pageant v.60 are not available
to Putty v.60 for authentication; I suspect that this due to

sFTP (client) RPM for CentOS 5.3 (32 bit) and/or putty-tools
I installed gFTP but apparently it does not handle the sFTP protocol.
I also installed the FireFTP Add On for the Firefox browser, but when
I tried to connect to the server, it says that I need putty-tools. I
have the rpmforge and epel repositories configured but yum did not
find putty-tools. Is there an RPM for a client program for gFTP or
putty-tools? If so, in which repository? TIA!

Wine & Putty & telnet
Hello,
I am new to the list. In fact I have been using 'wine' just for a couple
of days. Well I use Linux for many, many years.
I have installed Wine ver. 0.9.7 on SuSE 9.3 (rpm) and SuSE 9.0
(compiled from source). Then I tried Putty 0.58.
It starts OK. I can get login prompt from any sshd. But I don't get a
login prompt when I try to connect to any telnet servers.

Help with GTK and putty
I'm trying to install the latest version of putty GUI ssh client on my C5
box, but get the error:
./configure: line 2353: syntax error near unexpected token '1.2.0,'
./configure: "AM_PATH_GTK(1.2.0, all_targets="all-cli all-gtk",

What am I missing? I thought I had GTK fully installed. Maybe I don't?
I tried a yum install

remote access
Hello!
I have such trouble: I like R, but often I don't have administrator
permissions to install R on some (not mine) computers.
Could you give me shell on any server with R installed in order to apply
R without installing it (simply with PuTTY).
Great thanks!
