Cygwin/rsync Hang Problem Testing Results
People of cygwin & rsync, I recently attempted to get cygwin and rsync working to solve a backup/mirroring need in my computer life. Well, as you might guess, I ran into a little but of trouble. Strangely enough, rsync seemed to be regularly hanging when I attempted to do a "get" (sycronize a remote to a local dir). Well, considering I want to automate this, that was not going

Missing mails after folder renaming
Dear List, I seem to have created myself a problem to which I can't find an answer. I am using Dovecot (0.99.13-4.FC2 on Fedora Core 2) with Mozilla Thunderbird on Windows XP and Linux as IMAP client software. I renamed a folder to a name that included spaces (it fitted the pupose better), then later realised that I would have to change my procmail rules to suit. As I wasn't sure what

perform t.test by rows and columns in data frame
Dear R Help, I have been struggling with this problem without making much headway. I am attempting to avoid using a loop, and would appreciate any suggestions you may have. I am not well versed in R and apologize in advance if I have missed something obvious. I have a data set with multiple sites along a river where metal concentrations were measured. Three sites are located upstream of a mine

Mastercam in wine
I run mastercam X2 MR2 at work and I would like to be able to switch our boxes over to Linux. The biggest problem I have is not being able to use our programming software. Has anyone done Mastercam X2 Mr2 for Wine? I'm new at using Wine and Linux ( I installed Ubuntu), if it hasn't been done, where or who could I ask for help if at all possible? I would really appreciate any input on this.

Browse List propagation under Samba
I am using Samba version 3.0.10-1.fc2. It is configured as an NT domain controller and has been working well. I needed to add a routed (over VPN) connection to the system but cannot get the routed clients to access the browse list. The clients are all Windows XP professional. The remote client is not a domain member. All clients work when directly connected to the Samba server (broadcast),

rsync via ssh tunnel
Hi there, I want to put these two commands in just one command: ssh -i ~/.ssh/id_dsa -C -l sascha -L 873:rsync-server:873 bridge-server rsync -auz rsync://user@localhost/share /local-path How can I do this. With Option --rsh (-e) rsync wants to execute the command on the remote machine and not on localhost as I want it... rsync -au --rsh="ssh -C -l sascha -i ~/.ssh/id_dsa -L

Can't add new domain members to Samba PDC
Dear Samba List, I have been running a Samba PDC (Win 2000 & XP Clients) for about 1 year without problems. Now I find I cannot add new PCs to the domain, existing accounts are working fine. It seems to be a rights issue, but I am not sure quite how to analyse it. All attempts to add a computer account result in "unknown user or wrong password" (translated from German, may not be

MS Excel/NT/Samba timestamp - serious problem, bug?
A rather distressing timestamp issue (to multiple users here). Anyone seen similar behavior or have a suggestion/solution? Problem: Opening and closing an excel file (no changes/keystrokes to file) on the Samba server causes the file to be saved with time stamp of closing. (There is no autosave set on Excel - also see other info below) MS Excel 97 SR-2 NT 4.0 SP5 Solaris 2.6 or 2.7 (2

Samba 2.0.6, MKS' touch.exe, and file/dir time stamps
Hello all, we are experiencing problems with samba 2.0.6 and the MKS touch command. during our builds, we touch files and directories so that our make dependencies work correctly. Unfortunately, it seems that MKS' touch.exe doesn't actually change the time stamp of a file or directory. The command returns without an error, but the timestamp does not change. The same problem exists

"Date Created" missing on files transferred from an ext3 file system to an NTFS file system
I'm using rsync 2.6.9 to transfer tiff files from a linux RHEL 5 server to an NFSv3 directory exported by a NAS running Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 sp2. The NAS is running Microsoft Services for NFS. The rsync command I'm using is: rsync -auz --remove-source-files /m2/archives /nfs-destination The problem I'm having is that ~50% of the files that are moved are missing a

hardlinks not working with inode number > 2^31
I've been using 3.0.0pre8 to move a Debian archive from one filesystem to another. This archive contains a daily snapshot of the Debian ftp site, with common files hardlinked to save space. I noticed that it was using far more space than necessary. Upon investigation it seems that all the source files that have inode numbers greater than 2^31 aren't being hardlinked together at the

Dovecot/Pigeonhole Issue (UTC modtime instead of localtime)
Hi List, We are using the following setup: Dovecot-2.2.18 Pigeonhole-0.4.8 (for Dovecot-2.2) After the mail is finally delivered via a fileinto by the Sieve filter it gets an updated timestamp (modification time). The server has localtime setup correctly IMO (UTC +0200), but still the delivered mail is setup as being two hours old. I think I found out that the function

rsync-2.6.2: NFS clients confused after an rsync
We use rsync to update an nfs server. After an update, we noticed that a large number of clients didn't see the updated data. It took me a while to be able to reliably reproduce this problem, but it happens on old and new versions of rysnc. It also happens across all the platforms we use here (sun/linux/netapp). This shows the problem: [Note my home directory is NFS mounted]

One tiny Windows Unicode patch
I have been doing some heavy testing with the new FLAC version, and I found that CreateFile function in grabbag had been left out of UTF-8 treatment at some point. This causes re-encoding an existing flac to the same name to break the file if it contains non-ascii characters. Attached patch fixes this. -------------- next part -------------- diff --git a/include/share/win_utf8_io.h
