OT: Firefox lockdown policies for CentOS7 desktops
Hi all,
I am doing some tests with my CentOS7 desktop. I have configured a policy to lockdown Chrome/Chromium browsers and it works perfectly. And I am trying to the same for Firefox browsers but Firefox's docs are really "hard" to understand.
I have the following stopper points:
a/ what is the "real" system wide's config file: firefox.js, sysprefs.js or

Request for a Lockdown option
Dear OpenSSH developers,
Thanks a lot for your work on OpenSSH. We use it a lot and it is very helpful for our daily work. Would it be possible to have a lockdown option as a workaround in case of a remotely exploitable problem in ssh. This may help react to compromised keys/passwords, configuration issues, software bugs or other problems for example when Debian broke ssh .
My Idea would be

desktop lockdown on win2k / xp
Hi guys,
I'm just about to shoot on my foot so I wanted to check if there is
something else to blow my full leg actually ;-))
I have setup a working Samba 3 PDC controller with user authentication and
roaming profiles. I want to lock down [*] the desktop on client machines
(win xp) as I did with poledit (NTConfig.POL) on Win9x/WinNT4 machines.
[*] Lock downs suck as : disabling msn

Lockdown: Understanding "nil_lockdown_values"...?
Hi All,
I''m having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around
"nil_lockdown_values" in the Lockdown plugin. I''m unfamiliar with how
exactly this works. I''m assuming it is a helper method of sorts, but
I see no definition. Does Rails simply have the ability to nil_
[somerandomliborclass]_values? Would someone mind unconfusing me?
Also, where would I find

wine and security - lockdown suggestions
I only run one piece of software under wine but this app is still a great risk.
The intentions and opportunity of software developers not using open source should not be underestimated.
when i run
env WINEPREFIX="/ubuntu/PC1/.wine" wine C:\\windows\\system32\\taskmgr.exe
I am reminded again of all the security problems with windows.
I was thinking that it ought to be easier to

A simplistic parental-control setup
I am looking at the simplest (implementation-wise) solution to the following
problem (on CentOS 6.2):
I have a list of web addresses (like http://www.example.com, https://1.2.3.4/,
etc.) that should be "forbidden" to access from a particular host. On access
attempt, the browser should be redirected to a local web page (file on the hard
disk) with the explanation that those addresses

I don't see my messages
Hi all,
Recently I've suffered a problem with my SMTP service provider. It seems
the SMTP server allows open relay, so my account is lockdown by CentOS
list policy.
Because of that I desubscribe my last account and re-subscribe in CentOS
list with the present gmail account.
I can send any messages in the list, but the curious problem is I don't
see my own messages
????

suid bit files + securing FreeBSD
Hello everybody,
I'm a newbie in this list, so I don't know if it's the appropriate place
for my question. Anyway, I'd be happy to find out the solution.
Please, has anyone simple answer for:
I'm looking for an exact list of files, which:
1. MUST have...
2. HAVE FROM BSD INSTALLATION...
3. DO NOT NEED...
4. NEVER MAY...
...the suid-bit set.
Of course, it's no problem to

[RFC PATCH] gr: did you try turning it off and on again.
Fixes secure boot on my gp107. No idea why. Otherwise the GPU enters
complete lockdown after starting the gpccs and fecs with the LS images
loaded.

Speex 1.1.10 on ARM926EJ-Sid(wb) rev 3 (v5l)
Hi all,
I'm trying to use libspeex 1.1.10 on an ARM926EJ-Sid(wb) rev 3
(v5l). I executed
the speexenc and speexdec test files and they can encode and decode.
But I'm getting 95% of cpu utilization on the codification and 44% on
the decodification.
I saw in the post:
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/2005-June/003485.html
that this version of speex works fine on ARM

SIP/2.0 489 Bad Event in reply to a PUBLISH
Hi, in these dark days of COVID-19 lockdown I'm using linphone to
connect to my office asterisk system for working from home.
It's going pretty well but the presence/BLF functions don't appear to work.
In the linphone logs and asterisk debug I find that asterisk is
rejecting linphone's PUBLISH message:

Disabling user switching in CentOS 6
Installing CentOS 6 on a lab full of workstations, and I want to disable
fast user switching. With CentOS 5, I simply made sure that the
"user_switch_enabled" entry in
/etc/gconf/schemas/gnome-screensaver.schemas was set to false. However,
that doesn't work with CentOS 6.
I've found various proposed solutions to this issue, such as
gconftool-2 --direct --config-source

How to prevent users from deleting directories
Hello All,
I am new to Samba and having to learn it fast as I have taken over for someone who left staff. I have been asked if we can prevent users from removing directories and sub directories under a Samba share while still allowing them to read and write files to these directories. For instance we have a share defined as follows:

Hosting a Ruby App From Home - Approach?
Hi,
Any advice/comments on the potential for hosting some personal Ruby
applications from home? (i.e. for learning, sharing with friends etc)
Would the basic concept be:
* Need to buy a static IP address from you ISP
* By a domain name and point it to the static IP address
* Run Apache as the front end web server
- Q: What basic lockdown/security steps should one take?
* Perform a PORT
