CentOS 7, memory hungry (2.5GB) without user and heavy services running
Hello,
The last weekend, the VM with CentOS 7
(kernel-3.10.0-327.28.2.el7.x86_64) was running with 2.5GB of used memory,
but without users connected, and heavy services running. Three minutes
after reboot, the o.s. is running with 114MB used. ?Why the 62% of memory
is used if the o.s. does not have an intensive load?

ShieldsUp scan
Hi,
I''m a home user who doesn''t understand the workings of the Shorewall
firewall (or the linux OS on which I''ve just installed it) very well.
Having just installed Shorewall 1.4.6c with a default "home user"
configuration I gave it a run against the online ShieldsUp scan.
Main surprise was that the ICMP echo was enabled. I''ve since gone into

What will cause the vmw_vsock_vmci_transport.ko module to be loaded
after you remove MODULE_ALIAS_NETPROTO(PF_VSOCK)? Perhaps
drivers/misc/vmw_vmci/vmci_guest.c:vmci_guest_probe_device() could

User accounts being blocked
Dear James,
Thanks for the input.
Even increasing from 5 to 10, the amount of times to miss the password and lock the account (after changing, I wheeled a gpupdate / force), if you miss 3 times the account is locked.
I changed smb.conf log level to 9.
I tried to unlock the account using the samba-tool command line, but without success, because I can only unlock using the RSAT.
I get these

I made some tests with OS/2 (really!) and Samba 4 (tested with 4.1.17)

Shorewall and CUPS printing interference
I''m having a problem with the Shorewall firewall and CUPS printing
interfering with each other. My Linux firewall machine is acting as both
a CUPS server and client for all of my tests.

CUPS was working fine to print to my Epson C84 (network connected via a

Inconsistent results between caret+kernlab versions
I'm using caret to assess classifier performance (and it's great!). However, I've found that my results differ between R2.* and R3.* - reported accuracies are reduced dramatically. I suspect that a code change to kernlab ksvm may be responsible (see version 5.16-24 here: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/caret/news.html). I get very different results between caret_5.15-61 +
