Permission problems after an NT4 -> Samba LDAP PDC migration
Hello,
I replaced an NT4 server by a Samba 3.0.14a ldap server following the
instructions in 'Samba by example'.
Everything works fine except for some files on a W2003 SP2 server:
- when the W2003 server uses the Linux PDC, from a WinXP client, some files are
not writable, and ACLs can be listed but not changed.
- when the NT4 server is up, the same files on the W2003 server can be

Samba can't find file, NT can
We're having a problem with an application called Grade Machine
running on Windows 98 workstations. The problem occurs when
trying to save when overwriting the currently open class file.
It works on NT 3.51, it works on the local drive, it works
on Samba when short directory names are used, it doesn't
work under Samba 2.0.10 or 2.2.2 when saving to a file in
a folder such as "My

ACK's overhead
Good day time!
We've noticed the following issue with Samba 3.0.1 on Linux. When SMB client
asks for the first time on FID for a locking or read request on an opened
file, it causes an ACK to be sent from client side. Windows server also
requests ACK BUT much more rarely.
Sending ACK causes additional overhead when working in heavy locking and
unlocking environment. Windows server

Please help me decipher a two-packet NetBT conversation...
My clients are Windows XP SP1 and SP2, members of a Samba-PDC NT domain
(tested 3.0.7 and 3.0.10, same result). Attached is ethereal output
of a two packet client-server exchange that takes place when an offline
files sync is done. SP1 quickly does this exchange twice - first
broadcast, then unicast (as attached) and goes on its way. SP2 tries,
pauses many seconds, tries again, finally

OS/2 client crash on "Find Close2"
Hello,
I have just migrated an old OS/2 file server to a Linux box with Samba
3.0.23a. Now the OS/2 clients crash from time to time. I found a way to
reproduce/force the crash using PMMail and did some experiments.
The popuplog.os2 on the clients (Warp4 and eComStation) always names a
sys3175 in pmshell.exe / doscall1.dll.
Using Ethereal and comparing the network traffic between a) a client

Configuring a Kodak EZ200 Webcam in CentOS 4.3
Hi. I hate to ask because I'm not sure if this is one of those
questions that don't "deserve an answer" but here goes: My friend gave
me a Kodak EZ-200 Webcam (USB) recently and I'm trying to configure it
for use under CentOS 4.3. I did a little research on the web and found
that the Kodak EZ200 is supported using gphoto2

Kodak image scroll slagging
Hi,
I have installed Wine 1.1.17 in Ubuntu 8.10.
I have installed in Celeron 1100 MHz (256 ram).
When I try to scroll the image in Kodak image control in Vb application, it takes time to move, like slagging effect.
Do I have to do any display driver related problem. As in same pc in WXp
it does not take time to scroll.
Thanks

access denied with samba share
Hello Samba group,
Problem:
I cannot get samba share to grant access to my /shared
share. I created it, gave the linux user permissions
and tested them, my Windows XP Pro sees the share, I
can map a drive to it, but I cannot change to it:
Access denied is the error I get. I'm logged into
Windows XP as the same user ID and password as on the
Linux system.
I had a problem when accessing the

connect to it - wait about 2 minutes and then get 'network is busy' message.
I suspect that my problems may lie somewhere in the multiple domains /
subnetting areas, but I can't see where.
Any comments will be welcome. TIA

Asterisk project converts to Subversion version control system
The Asterisk development team is pleased to announce that we have
migrated our project repositories and development processes over to the
Subversion version control system!
Effective immediately, the primary source code distribution point for
Asterisk, Zaptel and other related projects (other than release tarballs
of course) will be http://svn.digium.com.
The actual SVN repositories are

[LLVMdev] Optimal settings for parsing and reparsing the translation unit in libclang
Nope, I parse the first time, and then reparse everytime something changes
in my text buffer (because I syntax color based on what libclang gives me).
And it worked fine (and fast)
with clang_defaultEditingTranslationUnitOptions for
clang_parseTranslationUnit and clang_defaultReparseOptions for
clang_reparseTranslationUnit. Until I saw that clang_codeCompleteAt doesnt
work with anything else than

String to list and visa versa
Hi,
I need to collapse a list into a string and then reparse it back into the
list. Normally when I need to do this I simply use write.csv and
read.csv, but I need to do this in memory within R rather than writing out
to file. Are there any bespoke commands that any knows of that does
something like this or any tips for doing this that anyone can suggest? I
basically don't care

0.99.9-test6
Just two fixes:
- dovecot-uidlist file is now assumed to be changed if it's modify time
is changed. before we relied on inode changing which isn't fully
reliable.
- mbox dotlocks sometimes incorrectly thought someone else had
overridden them
Known problems that I should fix:
- mbox: we don't necessarily notice message flag changes by external
programs (or another dovecot without

Logon Script is not executed: STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Last week we finally upgraded our servers from Samba 3 to Samba 4 and so far everything runs smoothly. For now we run 4.15.13 with an old NT-style domain while we are preparing to migrate to Samba AD-style domain.
Since the upgrade we have the issue that the logon scripts are not executed for domain users. It works a 100% for domain admins and 0% for non admin users and we have no idea why.
