Sweave, Texshop, and sync with included Rnw file
Hello everyone. I am in the process of writing a book in Latex with Texshop, on Mac. This book contains a lot of R code, hence the need to use Sweave. I was able to compile Rnw files, and to sync back and forth from the pdf to the source Rnw. My problem now is that the book is divided in Chapters, and every chapter is in its own Rnw file. I can compile them from the main one (book.Rnw) using the

Sweave and Textwrangler
Hi, I am trying to get TextWrangler to work with LaTeX and Sweave. Ideally I would call a script from TextWrangler that would run Sweave on a document, then LaTeX (using SyncTeX), and finally open the corresponding pdf in Skim. Of course I don't always need to run Sweave and would be looking for the option of LaTeX -> Open. I found this http://www.xs4all.nl/~msneep/latex/ but it

Splitting a DF into rows according to a column
Hi, I'm turning my wheels on this and keep coming around to the same wrong solution - please have a look and give a hand ... The premise is: a DF like so > loremIpsum <- "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Quisque leo ipsum, ultricies scelerisque volutpat non, volutpat et nulla. Curabitur consequat ullamcorper tellus id imperdiet. Duis semper malesuada

Setting locale to support UTF-8
In Sweave, if the locale is set to C, non-ASCII characters are not handled nicely even if I declare the encoding of the file to be "UTF-8". I'm trying to find a workaround for this, because I'm using Sweave from within TeXShop. TeXShop runs its typesetting engines in the C locale, and non-ascii characters are messed up. Is there a way to declare that I am in a

Running LaTeX dvi previewer on MacOS X
Several people have given great advice on how to successfully use X11 on Mac to so we can use the dvi previewer to view latex() output from Hmisc. Now after a version upgrade of X11 and X11sdk we are getting lots of crashes. I noticed a Mac dvi previewer with an executable stored as /Applications/TeX/TeXShop.app/Contents/MacOS/TeXShop Can we bypass X11 problems and point Hmisc to this

patchDVI update: SyncTex support
A while ago I wrote a package called patchDVI, that allowed "reverse-search" from the YAP .dvi previewer (or others) to jump directly to the .Rnw source of an Sweave document. Recently support for reverse search has been integrated into pdflatex (through SyncTex). There aren't many PDF previewers on Windows that support this (only an unreleased version of SumatraPDF, as far as

Rd.sty error
I had written a vignette and included a \usepackage{Rd} command to make it possible to include latex'ed Rd files in the vignette. However, when loading Rd.sty texShop produces the following error: l. 180 ...d}[1]{\ifmmode\bm{#1}\else\textbf{#1}\fi} This is on Max OS X 3.9 and R 2.0.1 Has anyone seen this before and/or is it problematic? I'm not sure whether the output suffers from this

Error using Rd2dvi on OSX
Hi, I run R 2.5.1 on Mac OS 10.4.10 and fail to build a package manual. Below is the transcript. The problem is a "pdflatex: command not found" error but I think that I have a fully working latex install (installed with iInstaller) as I use TeXShop with no problem. Could someone help? Script.aculo.us Effects with callbacks not working as it should.
Hello all! I''m having a problem which is driving me insane. It''s probably related to the fact that I''m new to javascript.... :) Here''s the thing, I have a couple of effects which are all being put in the queue. Some of these effects have callbacks; e.g. "afterFinish". But the calback is being made directly instead of after the effect is done. The

Depending on an R computation I would like to include an Sweave documents in the main Sweave document. How can I do it? How to call patchDVI::SweavePDF on an .Rnw which is not the master file?
Dear expeRts, I have a master file master.tex containing the preamble and which inputs (via \input{chapter01}, \input{chapter02}, ...) chapters. The chapters are .Rnw files. My goal is to use patchDVI::SweavePDF to compile the chapters (say, chapter.Rnw) individually (each chapter starts with sourcing Sweave preliminary settings). The first problem is the following. If I execute (in the shell)

Small typo in Sweave.Rnw
In the first paragraph of Sweave.Rnw (./src/library/utils/vignettes/Sweave.Rnw), it reads for literate programming \cite{fla:Knuth:1984}. but probably should be for literate programming \citep{fla:Knuth:1984}. ^ kind regards Enrico -- Enrico Schumann Lucerne, Switzerland http://enricoschumann.net

Rnw file generated strange symbols in pdf file
Hello, I found my Rnw file generated strange symbols in pdf file. For instance, on page 4 of the following file, http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/cts/vignettes/kf.pdf you can see Belcher et~al on line 2, and Figure~1 on line 5. The symbol ~ should not appear in the pdf file although the symbol was in the original Rnw file (something like Figure~\ref{...}, section~\ref{...}). On page 1,

Text editors for Sweave (rnw) files
Hi fellow R-users, Are there any text editors that recognize sweave (.rnw) files? I am running Windows Vista and in the past I used Tinn-R for R files but it (surprisingly) doesn't recognize rnw files and does not do any syntax highlighting for them. Thanks in advance, Greg __________________________________________________________________ Make your browsing faster, safer, and

embed Sweave driver in .Rnw file
Hello, Sweave lets you use alternative drivers through the driver argument, and several packages take advantage of that and define custom Sweave driver for various purposes. Most of them are listed on the Reproducible Research CTV: (http://cran.r-project.org/web/views/ReproducibleResearch.html) The next natural step is for package developpers to take advantage of this in their vignettes. Problem compiling Rnw file
Dear R list, I'm using R 2.15.2 with TeX Live 2009 and ESS 12.09 . I have a R project in the '/home/r/Documents/myproj/', which is my working directory (where I have the .Rnw file). Inside the document I have several "setwd()" to collect the datasets I use. After I compile from the terminal using "R CMD Sweave myproj.Rnw", I receive the error: Error in

Fwd: Converting R to Sweave (Rnw)
Hi I am thinking about using Sweave more frequently, especially for documenting code. But the syntax is slightly awkward for me (<<name>>= ... @), and I was thinking if there would be a way of importing the type of code extracted from an Rnw file back into an Rnw file? The advantage would be that the code could run in R without tangling. Obviously, sweave options could not be

including Sweave tangled code in '.Rnw' document
Hello List, I have been using Sweave for my homework this last quarter and have been very impressed at how much time and effort it saves me. I, however, have run up against a problem which I have not been able to solve using any of the Sweave/LaTeX tricks I know. I work through my homework one problem at a time, typesetting equations and writing R code, etc. and occasionally use
