amazon web services and CentOS
hi, Over the last few months, based on the fact that people were asking me about it, I was in turn asking Amazon what they are doing to make CentOS available on their EC2 platform. After much conversation to / from their end, they are in a situation where they have offered me some access and credits to make the whole CentOS on AWS happen. This is the sort of thing right up the VirtSIG

Version numbering vis a vis CentOS and RHEL

This is the thing that bothers me most - that folks dont have a good grasp on what / why the numbering is working like this. We are still a small team, and all efforts are flat out on getting the iso media and images done,

new list proposal
One thing that we are often blamed for is trying to stifle conversations and to discourage people from commenting / contributing / encouraging conversations. And that cant be further from the truth, really. We are all pro-community ( and when I say we, I mean everyone - including the contributors, developers, admins, users, abusers and hey upstream too ). However, one thing that does get in

What's Next
OK, AMD has announced it's new line of server and desktop processors. What level of CentOS has been tested on them? OK then, when will CentOS be tested on them? Or do we wait for Red Hat? -- Eugene Poole Woodstock, Georgia

Experiences with RAM and CPU Demand of Rails Applications?
Hello. given the fact that there are numerous different hosting offers with different parameters and technologies, I would like to ask if there are some heuristics or rules of thumb existing to determine the demand of an own rails application? Input parameters would be something like: page impressions/day, average site size (in KB), average complexity of the rails logic of a site example 1 -

Gnumeric
Hi, I am trying to install Gnumeric in CentOS 4 and I can't. It complains about quite a few dependencies failing. It suggested installing some postgresql librairies, openldap librairies... CentOS 7 AMI Building
Yes... we currently use Packer to achieve a repeatable build process, from scratch. We'd like to replicate that and be able to build from scratch without spinning up an EC2 instance, in an automated way. I don't know how to phrase this, so apologies if it comes across wrong, I have immense respect for you personally and for CentOS... but, is it really that difficult to post the kickstarts

pre-built images

And if so, what would be the roles people would want images done for, and what might be suiteable package sets to include for those roles. -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq
