calculate spatial distance
Hi,
I have a set of locations defined by longitude and latitude (in degrees),
and want to calculate the spatial (or geographic) distance among all
locations.
I did not find such a function in the spatial-related packages. (I *cannot*
use 'dist', as I have geographic, not cartesian coordinates).
thanks!

Rose diagrams in R?
I am looking for a function (or package) to plot histograms of directional
data such as wind direction. I believe these are called rose diagrams. Is
there an R script for this? If not, can it be constructed in a function
calling primitive graphic calls (lines, circles, boxes or polygons)?
The stars function is not quite right.

[LLVMdev] Compiling MiBench to MIPS
Hi,
I'm trying to compile the basicmath benchmark from the MiBench suite to the
MIPS target. However, when I call llc with the linked llvm bitcode, the
compilation gives an error apparently related to some unsupported feature.
The same error occurs when I select -march=arm, but it works for X86. In
details:
Commands I used to compile basicmath:
clang -static -O3 basicmath_small.c rad2deg.c

CircStats help
Hello,
I am quite new to R and although I have read some material
(apparently not enough) I'm getting very frustrated. I'm trying to do
some simple circular statistics in R (CircStats, primarily circ.mean)
and I'm confused about the results. What is a negative radian or
degree mean in R? I thought it would be a coterminal angle, but that
doesn't make sense with my data

[LLVMdev] Assembly Mips from bitecode llvm
Hi,
I'm trying to compile the benchmarks from Mibench suite with the
application of the all LLVM's tranformation passes.
Moreover, I'm trying to generate assembly code for Mips architecture for
extraction of energy and performance metrics.
For this, for example, initially I compile the sources and link them
generating a bitecode file. After, I apply each optimization using opt tool:

[PATCH] Transparent cube
Hi,
Recently i have worked on re-writing beryl's transparent cube, and
ported 3d plugin to compiz.
I'm attaching a patchset here that includes the transparent cube
patches (i'll post the 3d plugin when i fix some problems that didn't
happen in beryl).
Patching order: btf-ftb.patch, clip-planes.patch, plugin-events.patch,
cube-paint-order.patch, transparent-cube.patch.

Using tilt in ActionView?
Hey friends,
I was wondering what is the current opinion on using tilt in
ActionView? Right now, there''s a lot of code in AV::Template/
TemplateHandler etc. which is nicely implemented in tilt. I''m
currently refactoring the AV layer (private interest ;-) using tilt
and it makes the whole thing much more readable and easier to follow.
What do you guys think?
I know there was a

patch for textspecial and defaultfont in xfig
Hello,
The current xfig device lacks the functionality to set the
textspecial flag and use the defaultfont in xfig. This is necessary
when you want to export to xfig and use interpreted text (e.g., $
\frac{1}{e}$ gets interpreted by latex). The attached patch adds this
functionality.
Why would you like to do this?

par("uin") ?
I inherited a function written either for an older version of R or SPlus
to draw a brace, "{", in a graph. It uses par("uin") to determine the
scaling of the
quarter circles that make up segments of the brace, but that setting
doesn't
exist in current R.
I'm guessing that, in the function below, ux, uy can be defined from
par("usr") and

Moving-Tiles Bootstrap
I wish to perform moving tiles bootstrap resampling on some gridded data
meteorological data. I've many years experience with S-Plus, but it has
no way to perform a moving-tiles bootstrap. Within R I've learned how to
use quadratresample() with the spatstats package and would be happy to
simply use empirical percentiles if generating the replicates were fast,
but it isn't. So,

Wine compilation without fonts in CentOS 5.4
I'm new to Linux and am using CentOS 5.4 (RHEL) as distribution. I'm trying to compile the latest version of wine 1.1.43 to install the Full Tilt Poker. I compile, but with some errors in the shell. I install the Full Tilt Poker, but when I play, the fonts do not appear. Screens appear without something in writing. In Ubuntu the fonts appear normally, but with an install .deb. Could anyone

Wine and mouse wheel tilts
I'm not happy with the way that Wine interpretes mouse wheel tilts (remaps them to scrolls)
I want to change this to keyboard input. I want to do this because I use the wheel tilt to change target in World of Warcraft when I play in Windows, and I want to carry this over to Linux.
I'm a bit of a n00b, but does anyone have any idea how I'd go about doing this? I know how to apply
