newhidups with APC Smart-UPS - workaround!
Hi.
I had a problem recently with %subj, and I've solved it.
Sent a letter with solution to maintainers, but it seems like I've lost it somewhere.
May be just simply forgot to write it.. But anyway.
I've noticed that I'm not the only one who had it. So I post the workaround.
The problem is similar to the one mentioned in letter with alike subject at Oct. 5.

futex hang workaround by rebooting first (?)
The previously noted upgrade-to-4.4 recipe:
yum update yum sqlite python-sqlite ; yum update
worked more consistently than running "yum upgrade," but it too fell victim
to the futex hang.
In my limited testing, a reboot of the machine before starting the upgrade
gave me a 100% success rate.
Given two identical machines, one that had been used for a few days and
one that was freshly

Low battery unexpected shutdown
Hello. Battery, battery, battery. I am only thinking at worn batteries. I
recently had the same symptoms with an hp/eaton g3 1500va. One of the 3
batteries was reading a healthy 12.8v, but when put under load it would
quickly drain. I would measure each battery and test them under load, like
with a car headlight bulb switched on both fillaments.

upssched. Again.
Hi everyone,
Here I am with my second attempt to persuade upssched to do things; for some
reasons it just won't! Or if it runs, it never runs the script.
OK, the story first: 2.0.3 (conveniently comes as RPMs by default on FC6)
running on FC6; APC Smart-UPS 750 via serial connection all working fine.
Here are the main files:

refreshing a page continuously
I am using periodically call remote on a page to do an action similar to
top on unix. I would like this periodically call remote to act on
milliseconds and not seconds. Is there a way for it to go faster than 1
second frequency or is that the fastest?
Also, is there a better way of doing this than sending ajax calls every
second because it does seem kind of messy.
Thanks

acessing hard drive continuously
My hard drive on a Dell Latitude keeps being accessed every 5 seconds for a
couple tenths of a second. Is there a way yo shut this off. I suspect it
might be related to journaling? Thanks in advance.

How to continuously gather statistics?
Hello,
I recently upgraded to the latest version of Dovecot, and want to use the
newly introduced logging / event system. I want to fetch the statistics
every couple of seconds, and push those to our logging platform. Metrics
such as: number of IMAP commands, average time they took, etc.
However the metrics as reported by Dovecot continously increment. So I see
two solutions:

"Continuously colored" colorkey
Hi,
I use the levelplot function of the lattice library with the option
col.regions=gray(200:400/400) in order to get a "color-grid" of 201
different gray colors (actually if you look at the vector, some
consecutive colors are the same). In order to make the colors in the
colorkey as "smooth/continuous" as possible I use the maximal number
which is possible for the

Using ices or shout with continuously growing files?
Hi people,
I'm using an external mp3pro encoder that creates a contuously growing file
from a live input. However, ices and shout read the file size, and stop when
that value is reached, then they start playing the file over again. What I
want is that it keeps playing the file, as it should be able to keep playing
until eternity :) I've copied the output of shout beneath. Is there

How to Playback a file continuously during conversation?
hello all,
I would like to create an application where a file is played repeatedly
in the background while two parties are having a conversation. Does
anyone know of a way to achieve this?
I have been looking into the ManagerAPI to redirect the call to a meetme
room. Then I try to introduce a third party that will just play the file
continuously, but with no luck. Is there a different/simpler

3.0.28 continuously dumping core
Hello all
Compiled 3.0.28 from source and get continuous core dumps. The machine
running as PDC continous to work though.
Core dumps are reproduceable and happen when, for example, I am trying
to connect to a share that does not exist as well as when I install a
new printer driver using the Microsoft wizard thing.
We are running two other machines with 3.0.28 without any core dumps at all.

Using ices or shout with continuously growing files?
I also tried such things:

Could not find a valid playlist file.

In this case I try to KEEP READING the mp3 file (which becomes continuously
larger), and pipe it to ices (how should I do this?). But ices isn't nice to
me and keeps asking for a

CyberPower usbhid-ups continuously disconnects/reconnect
I have had a similar problem to many other people for the last few
months with my Cyberpower UPS. It was working properly after reboot
about one in five times; the rest of the time it would endlessly
disconnect and reconnect, according to syslog messages.
The latest I was able to find towards a solution is

Low battery unexpected shutdown
Hi, recently I observed that during a power outage, my NUT setup doesn't
shutdown properly. Indeed it never reaches the LowBattery state to notify
and initiate shutdown on clients. Reviewing my setup and logs I think I'm
facing multiple problems and I'm unable to point to real root cause.
First, let me focus on my scenario and current setup:
