Two departments on two different locations
Hi there, like topic sais, I'd like to build a domain-system with two locations. Our users work one day here the other day in the other place. The two locations are connected via VPN (10MBit). To have one datastore in sync on both locations I was thinking about something like a distributed filesystem (e.g. ceph). Why? I hope to be able to setup the cluster between the two locations with a

Mandatory User Profile
Hi, first of all: my name is uli... i'm from bavaria/germany and i'm working with linux quite a long time (maybe 10 years). Now my "problem": my samba is setup with ldap-backend. my configuration with mandatory profiles is working quite good. i created a Default User - Profile in my netlogon-share (migrated from a windows-xp client). ntuser.dat has been renamed to ntuser.man.

samba4 with glusterfs
Hi Sambalist, maybe someone with some glusterfs experience can help me. I have a running samba4 installation here. Now i tried to get glusterfs configured so I can use glusterfs as an additional storagesystem. The setup of glusterfs worked pretty easy. I tried multiple configurations with up to 4 virtual machines (Virtual Box). The bricks are xfs-filesystems. Mounting glusterfs (mount -t

memory cleaning
Hi R Users, After some research I haven't find what I want. I'm manipulating a dataframe with 70k rows and 30 variables, and I run out of memory when exporting this in a *.txt file after some computing I have used : > memory.size()/1048576.0 [1] 103.7730 and I make my export : > write.table(cox,"d:/tablefinal2.txt",row.names=F,sep=';') >

Logging Configuration Options spread over 2 files
Hi List, I have just recently set up 2 mint systems with shorewall and have been using the script for a fair amount of time before that. What really ruined my day was the fact that the logging options for the chains'' Policies are in a different place than all the other logging options. I built my kernel with ulogd and spent hours looking for the config options of the policies. Now

Backup of virtualized Samba4 AD
Hi there, current situation: we have a Samba4 AD running on a VMware ESX-Cluster (ha/failover, ha-nfs-stores). I'm doing backups with ghetto VCB. Until now I only did "Snapshot-backups". But I know, that this way of backups is not the best way for domaincontrollers. I'm now planning to do backups by shutting down the VM, then doing backup and then starting machine again.

Still mandatory profiles, every user same profile
Hi there, again me, again similar question. First of all, what is it, what I'd like to have: 1.) Every user in my System should use the same profile. In dsa.msc I gave every user as profile-path \\samba4\profiles\stud 2.) The users should not be able to change anything in that profile (I think changing ntuser.dat to ntuser.man should do the job, proposed i got step one managed ;) )

RFC: Tuning ext3
All, I'm requesting comments from the expert readers of ext3-users on these notes for tuning ext3 for performance. Most helpful would be feedback pertinent to RHEL 5; as XFS isn't supported under Red Hat Enterprise Linux these items are an attempt to match XFS performance with ext3. These items were culled from a number of sources. Will they be effective for achieving the performance

Grub legacy on Centos 7
Hello Everyone, We have centos6 server. And we are planning to upgrade it to Centos7.And GRUB 2 needs a new bios grub partition. Creating a new partition is too much risky. I am wondering if it is possible to replace Grub2 with Grub legacy on Centos7 machine? Thanks!! Sachin

1.0 release
I'm dying to use the 1.0 capability to use more than one mysql user pasword database. However, I'm too chicken to use 1.0-test in a production environment. Does anyone know if there is a planned release date for 1.0? Or can anyone say how risky it is to use 1.0-test?

[LLVMdev] Creating Pointer Constants
Hello, I am writing a JIT compiler for a subset of the Matlab language and as a part of my implementation, I would like to be able to pass a constant pointer to a native function I'm calling. Right now, this is what I do: llvm::Constant* constInt = llvm::ConstantInt::get(llvm::Type::Int64Ty, (int64)thePointer); llvm::Value* constPtr = llvm::ConstantExpr::getIntToPtr(constInt,
