rJava fails compilation on R-2.9.1 but not R-2.7.1 on Debian Lenny
I have been futzing around for days tying to get rJava to install on my freshly build Debian Lenny installation. I have R-2.9.1 installed from source in my R_HOME directory and R-2.7.1 installed via apt-get install r-recommended. I was tried many different things, but by accident started up R-2.7.1 as root and viola, successful install. I immediately exited out of R-2.7.1 and started R-2.9.1 as

Problem installing rJava under FreeBSD
Hi there I am setting up a FreeBSD server for my research department at university, and one of my teachers needs specifically R modules like tm, RWeka, rJava and the like. I have installed FreeBSD 8.0/i386 and applied the relevant security patches as well as the native FreeBSD JDK 1.6 with its latest patchset. I have installed R 2.11 and enabled Java support on it. Now, when trying to install

100% CPU when running (cran2deb) JGR on Debian
Dear all, I installed the amd64 cran2deb [1] JGR binaries on a fresh Debian testing, and JGR is missbehaving. When JGR starts up, one core of the CPU goes to 100% and stays there, even though I am keeping it idle and not performing any operation. I tried JGR with both sun-java6-jdk and openjdk-6-jdk, debian-liv:/home/liviu# update-alternatives --config java There are 4 choices for the alternative

Using JRI and Java 1.6 on MAC OS X
Dear R-Help, I am trying to get JRI (the rJava interface allowing Java to connect to R) to work. I was able to run it a week ago when I was doing some testing using Java 1.5. However, I am developing a GUI application using some of the new Java 1.6 features and I just can't get JRI to work with this setup. Here is what I get: Cannot find JRI native library! Please make sure that the JRI

eclipse and R
Hello, I am trying to install Eclipse and R on an amd64 machine running Suse linux 9.3. I have compiled R 2.8.0 with --enable-R-shlib and it seems that compilation was successfull. After starting R, I installed the latest rJava package, from the output: checking whether JRI is requested... yes cp src/libjri.so libjri.so It seems JRI support has been compiled successfully. However, when I try

r-cran-rjava dependencies on debian jesse, library(rJava) fails when default-jre is missing
Hi, Dirk Eddelbuettel advised me to write here. Here is my original letter to him: I would like to enquire about package r-cran-rjava on Debian jesse. It seems that if default-jre package is not installed, but openjdk-7-jre is installed, then library(rJava) in R fails. I?ve been bitten by this today and I wonder whether this an issue of mine, or is this a possible bug. My server admin used

wine and build difference between R.2.4.0 and R 2.4.1 windows binaries?
Does anybody (most probably the core team) know if there is any difference in how the official 2.4.0 and 2.4.1 binaries are built? Problem is, 2.4.0 loads with the wine (I tried a few recent versions, and also used 2.3.x under wine from time to time), but 2.4.1 won't. Thanks. Hin-Tak Leung

So nearly there, but can't install rJava
Thanks Dirk and Enrico, First clarification: I'm in this mess because I'm trying to run R 3.5.2 within Debian stable (9/"sretch") using the stretch-cran35 repository. That uses and provides r-api-35 but many of the packages depend upon r-api-3. As Johannes said a day or so back, the way around this is to use install.packages() in R to get the packages you want. That leads you

r-cran-rjava (ubuntu 13.04 ?) -- missing dependencies?
I am really no java lover, but for some reason had interested to look at an R package that depends on rJava... and when I tried, I was *again* (it is my usual experience for more than 10 years) unable to get rJava installed, as indeed, also 'R CMD javareconf' ended in an error that jni.h was not found. I see the issue here,

Esteemed useRs and Devs, Attempts to update package:rJava to the latest version have failed. See my code and output below. Notably, as suggested here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3311940/r-rjava-package-install-failing $ sudo apt-get install r-cran-rjava ran successfully without error or warning, but my rJava package is not updated, and remains un-updatable... JGR/Deducer Installation
Hi, Sorry if this is to wrong mailing list. In that case, please point me to correct mailing list. Please also excuse rather long mail - I am not sure what piece of information would be useful for anybody who could help me. Couple of days back I had put a query about box-plots using GUI. I got some excellent suggestions. One of them was to use JGR/Deducer. It worked quite well for my needs.
