samba-tool dbcheck produces wrong instancetype errors
Hi All, I have joined a samba4 instance to en existing W2k8 AD domain as an additional domain controller. When I do samba-tool dbcheck I get (example) : ERROR: wrong instanceType 4 on CN=INVIEW-DC2,OU=Domain Controllers,DC=inview,DC=local, should be 0 Not changing instanceType from 4 to 0 on CN=INVIEW-DC2,OU=Domain Controllers,DC=inview,DC=local This happens for 644 out of 655 of the

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Hello, We have a Windows 2008 DC (inview-dc1 and a samba 4.4.16 (inview-dc2) server as a backup DC. The system for the most-part works OK, but occasionally the Samba DC goes wildly out of sync (with respect to group membership), normally after a change to a large group. I have noted previously before the out-of-sync event occurs, this command always fails thus : root at inview-dc2:~#

Thanks Garming. We currently use a standalone bind DNS server. Will the later version of samba work without the integrated DNS backend? Problems removing a SBS 2008 server from a Samba AD DC.
Hi, I have a samba 4.7.9 DC that I am trying to remove a windows SBS dc from. In doing this I have run across several problems. For whatever reason when I try to dcpromo the windows DC it fails because it says it cannot contact the samba4 DC. I have checked replication as per https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Verifying_the_Directory_Replication_Statuses All of the tests pass. Since we are going

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Hi, Many of these syncing problems were solved in Samba 4.7 (and probably a few more in 4.8). There were a number of unresolved locking issues that we uncovered as well as some inconsistencies with Windows replication. I would try join a DC with one of the latest Samba versions and see if your problems persist. Cheers, Garming On 21/06/18 21:35, Chris Lewis via samba wrote: > Hello, >

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
What does the WERR_BAD_NET_RESP means? I'm currently upgrading our DCs to 4.8.3 and I've noticed that the off-site DC has a sync problem of the CN=Configuration NC. The FSMO DC is still in the 4.5.5, but all other DCs, including the off-site are already on 4.8.3. Trying to sync the off-site DC with one of the updated DCs does not work either. The WERR_BAD_NET_RESP message already

Samba 4 "Services for UNIX"? [SOLVED]
To get the automount schema to work with the git checkout of samba 4 I had to modify the automount schema files and separate the attributes from the classes. I also discovered that it's required to have the ntSecurityDescriptor , instanceType, and objectCategory attributes. Without these it will crash whenever you try to browse... I did alot of stopping samba, tarring of /usr/local/samba and
