duplicate 'row.names' are not allowed
I am getting an error when trying to import tab delimited .txt file saved from Excel. I have read what is posted on the forums but still am confused. I saved my Excel file (DataTestforR.xlsx) as a tab delimited txt file (DataTestR.txt) on my Desktop. In the RGUI, I tried to import the txt file and got an error > myfile<-"C:\\Users\\jpapa\\Desktop\\DataTestR.txt" >

Windows 7 installation issues
I installed R version 2.15.0 under C:/ on a PC running Windows 7.  When I load library("tools") to test the installation and then run the command testInstalledPackages("base"), I get the following error: Error in setwd(outDir): cannot change working directory. I have set up the R shortcut to run it as administrator. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

package ‘contingency.tables’ is not available (for R version 2.15.2)
I am trying to create contingency tables (to evaluate prior to performing Pearson's Chi-Squared test for independence). I would like to see column and row totals as well as expected and observed values and cell counts. I tried to use the package "contingency. tables" but get the following warning: package ‘contingency.tables’ is not available (for R versions 2.15.2) Is there

R-admin typo
Hi, Section 3.2 of the R-admin manual https://cran.ma.imperial.ac.uk/doc/manuals/r-release/R-admin.html#Testing-a-Windows-Installation could be improved. The particular sentence is The Rtools are not needed to run these tests. but more comprehensive analysis of errors will be given if diff is in the path (and errorsAreFatal = FALSE is then not needed below). Thanks Colin [[alternative HTML

cutreeDynamic error
I am having difficulty getting the dynamic tree cut package to work. Given the data table "myddtable" LengthPlaceColorAge5HRed224ABlue205WGreen243GRed222GBlue236WGreen255ARed194H Blue23 I created a similarity matrix using DAISY and Gower metric and specified Place and Color columns as characters (since they are categorical variables) > dd.daisy<-daisy(myddtable, metric =

Building 2.9.0 on Solaris 10 U6 x86
I've run into a number of problems. I'm not sure where they belong, so I thought I'd send it here in hope someone will send them where they do belong. It mostly seems to be either errors in the autoconf input or system header weirdness. There was one genuine compiler bug when compiling saveload.c which google resolved (add "-xunroll=1" ). -liconv is missing from LIBS in

R CMD check --outdir=path gives unknown option '--outdir'
For 'R CMD check', it appears that option '--outdir' is not recognized and generates warning "unknown option '--outdir'". R CMD check --help says: Usage: R CMD check [options] pkgs [...] Options: [...] -o, --outdir=DIR directory used for logfiles, R output, etc. (default is 'pkg.Rcheck' in current directory,

R CMD check: unknown option ‘--outdir==RCHECK’
Dear R devel I am experiencing a problem using R CMD check. I tried to specify the argument outdir, but get every time the error message: Warning: unknown option ‘--outdir==RCHECK’ This happens both on R 2.15.2 Linux, as well as R 3.0.1 Windows, with latest Rtools. Is it just that I am not passing the argument the right way, or is there an issue with R CMD check? I tried to write the argument

R CMD check: unknown option ?--outdir==RCHECK?
Hi, I believe this is kind of a long standing bug though. In R-3.0.1, but this also happened in previous versions, the long version '--outdir' is not recognised: For `R CMD check --outdir=mydir pkg_0.1.tar.gz` we get: Warning: unknown option ‘--outdir=mydir’ But with `R CMD check -o mydir pkg_0.1.tar.gz` we get: * using log directory ‘/home/renaud/Documents/projects/mydir/pkg.Rcheck’

testInstalledBasic question
Hi, I'm currently in the process of writing an R-installation SOP for my company. As part of that process I'm using the recommendations from the 'R Installation and Administration' document, section 3.2, "Testing an installation". This is done on an XP machine, using the latest binary of 2.11.0. The binary is downloaded and then installed from the installer. I then

Files not found on UNIX.
Anyone have any input on this one. I'm running Samba version 1.9.18p10 on an HP9000 HP_UX 10.20. An NT 4.0 server writes files to a UNIX directory and periodically a shell script runs to process any new files found. Occasionally a file isn't found for several hours after it has been created, then mysteriously appears in the UNIX directory. So far this hasn't been a major

Distributing custom driver config in TDB files
Hi, Is there a way to populate customized settings of the drivers (printing related TDB files) from one Print Server to another? Here is the background: I am working on centralized driver distribution. Besides pushing all the drivers from a central location to the edges, the administrator should also be allowed to customize the drivers settings and the distribution should send those

Problem with nlme package
Hello, I have installed the nlme package, but every time I try to use the function "summary.lme," I get a message that the function cannot be found. I've tried to install the package several times and have re-started R several times, but to no avail. I have also loaded the lme4 package, in case that makes a difference. I'm using R on a brand new Mac. Thank you!

Failing lm-tests due to extra 0 in scientific notation?
Hello. I've compiled R on Windows many times, and this is the first time I've seen this error. While running make check-all (and using testInstalledBasic("both")), the lm-tests routines fail, and, as far as I can tell, the diff is failing because in one file, answers are coming back like this "3.11e-004" while in the save file they are "3.11e-04". Every value

Algebraic operation on the missing values
Hi all, I have a large set of descriptors, which are stored as the vectors, each one containing about 450 elements. Now I have to perform some algebraical operations on this set to eliminate the redundant ones. The problem is, that not all vales in the vectors are known. Are there any norm defined how should I process such vectors? Simple example: having two vectors: a b 3 4 2
